I don't think the Atarax 25mg is addictive. Ararax is prescription drug in SG, non-prescription in MY. I bought 25 tablets at 18++RM from Watson pharmacy in City Square, JB, a tablet a night is enough.

I had tried not to take any Atarax on some nights, and that's still ok.

You can google on how Atarax has help people with insomnia too.

So far I had spent 3 trips into JB to buy the tablets. 2 times [50 tablets each trip] from Watson and 1 time from Apex [for it was sold out in Watson]. Unfortunately the tablets that I gotten from Apex were not effective at all. Just to share my experience...

It's best that you seek your family doctor for advice. For me insomnia has taken a toll on me that I just have to dive into next best drug that may aid in my sleeping disorder. BTW I do go for regular jogging too.

thanks.. maybe I will ask my doc and give it a try.

Lorazepam (Ativan), from psychiatrist. i need it to cope with anxiety and some other issues.

kicked the "addiction" a few times before... recently more frustrated started taking more regularly over 2 weeks (0.5mg per day). these 2 days more pek cek take 1mg in total

kicking it off is a biatch......... at least a few days hard to rly get to sleep

To be honest ... there are many factors for consideration when it comes to addiction .. have you told your psychiatrist about it? maybe you should change your meds? Or maybe .. seeing a psychologist is better in your case?

Sad to see so many having severe insomnia.

If even 10mg fast release melatonin can't help you get to sleep, that's damn serious in my book. It really warrants either an entire overhaul of your living habits + work/career or a very in-depth full body check-up.

Ts .. can try Atarax 25 mg .. first .. if not Valium or stilnox.
Usually .. if insomnia is bad .. Atarax will usually not effective .. As for melantonin ... it is totally useless for alot of people with severe insomnia .
That said, ts .. all these is only temp solution ... not for long term.

What could be the long term solution? Mine has turned chronic.

Talk to a professional and take it from there ..there are people who are on long term medications which is not surprising. At the end of the day ... it is not a cheap ailment to have.

Won't shut down de, you body will microsleep. Dangerous is when you microsleep at the wrong time and get injured.

My mum microslet while waiting at the bus stop sitting down. Ended up nearly fracturing some bones.

So if it's due work stress - it really warrants changing career or even in extreme cases considering early retirement (less money, but at least you'll live). That's what happened to my mum.

I had very bad insomnia for more than 15 years too. I am a very light sleeper. In early years, i will have to wake up in early hours just to empty my bladder, and unable to fall to sleep thereafter. And i seldom have dreams, for i am a very light sleepers, and sleep at most 4 hours on each night. And i can lie on my bed worrying on the slightest matters. It affected my work and my health badly. I don't find melantonin helpful at all. Valium helps but they are prescription drugs even in Malaysia. I chance upon Atarax only late last year, when i ask the Watson pharamcist for advice on some drugs that can calm me the night. A tablet a night, it helps. If insomnia had affected you very badly, do check out Atarax. I had stopped taking valium for to get 5 tablets, i need to pay $60 for each specialist consultation, which i feel obscene....
Wah, I go BKK buy Atarax one box 60 pills 75 Baht nia

excluding medication of any type possible solutions.

heavy exercise in the afternoon.
milk and banana 1 hr before bedtime.
darken the whole room 1-2 hrs before bedtime, no TV, tablet and HP.
sometime is the warm temp, try to on the aircon at least before u sleep.
do some light reading with dim light.

but best is still exercise, but not late in the evening. yes and avoid heavy meal right before sleep.
