Hi...

New MacBook Pros were released hours ago...
If u c the price point, quite high...
Maxed out 15 inch is already $4000+

I need a new laptop for video editing purposes... Mainly using Premiere Pro. Will sometimes use FCPX for faster, simpler editing.

The 15 inch is 1.8kg while the 13 is 1.4kg.
The 15 inch spots an AMD GPU, up to 4GB GDDR5.

I heard the AMD GPU dun work well with Premiere Pro. Is that true?
So, for me, which mac should pick...?

That's not the max out model. That's only the 2nd better base model. If you try to max out the specs, it will be more than 5k.

The way I read is the $2788 is the new base model with 2 thunderbolt ports, but without the touch bar.

The new model without Touch Bar and 2 ThunderPort 3 is only available for 13" which starts at $2188.

He is referring to the 2015 15" MacBook which was starting at $2688. Now apple has increase it to $2788.

wonder if i should get the 2.9GHz Processor ,512 GB Storage and upgrade to 16GB Ram.

my mac mini (late 2012) 2.3GHz intel Core i7 with SSD is connected to living room TV due to no study room.

mainly surfing, video , editing of photos.

It seems like the new MBP is targetted more for working professionals or those who really needs it.

Still rmb the times that Macbooks was only for art/media/video students. Then it became a mainstream laptop and now Apple is differentiating it between Macbook and Macbook Pro

I considered the same option as you, but then the base 15" model with storage upgraded to 512gb is only a bit more... still thinking about it.

I would suggest you go for the 2015 MacBook Pro. It is more than capable enough to complete your task.

yup. Very surprised that apple is still selling 2015 MacBook pro and again increases the price. Maybe it is due to the drop in sgd against usd.
