I'm trying to buy the 3s pro from Taobao. Seems to be about $100. But I'll have to get a 3 pin power supply.
Would it be better to buy off qoo10 $140 where the set is already in English and has apps preinstalled ?

all u need is a 2 pin adaptor from those a dollar shop.
and why pro? shouldn't u just get the 3S (US variant with android TV)

mi box international version from aliexpress - $99 including delivery.

I really prefer a proper plug as adapters don't fit very well.
For the US variant I suppose I can't get from Taobao (can't find the English one). Amazon or eBay?

Based on above info, you can go Google/search each model to know exact detailed specs.

(1) to (4) are old / outdated products.
IMHO, don't bother about outdated products anymore.

If you still see an online vendor selling (1) to (4), don't buy. Is this clear enough?

(5) to (9) are products that are currently (as at Feb 2017) -- still sold by Xiaomi.

DON'T buy (5) & (6) because these 2 models only comes w/ 1GB RAM + 4GB storage (too little storage).

Except for (7), ALL other Xiaomi TV box models DON'T come w/ Google Playstore.
Except for (7), ALL other Xiaomi TV box models ARE NOT meant to be sold & used outside China.

Is this clear enough?

If you want to buy Xiaomi (brand) Android TV box + needs Google Playstore, you ONLY choice is (7) MDZ-16-AB

Some people find it attractive to buy (7) because it comes w/ Google Chromecast Ultra built-in !!

If you need Google Chromecast + also want to buy an Android TV box...

So by buying (7), you pay for 1 item but actually get a 2-in-1 device.
(Android TV box + Chromecast Ultra combined in one product)

In addition, (7) also supports 4K HDR & also supports Netflix 4K.

I know, I know, people will always next ask, where to buy (7)?

Thank you very much for the post !! Should make it a sticky or something.

I have been trying to do my own homework thru Googling/TB/HWZ/Qoo10 but it seems alot of them use different names for the boxes or simply dont list the model numbers. E.g. 3S / 3S PRO / 3 Enhanced / 国际版....

Finally a place where i can make sense of things.

pricing this kinda thing, gotta take effort to dig..
take your time... turn the internet upside down, sure got cheaper one.

Anyway to bypass the Mangotv app update? Once app updated its region locked and the DNS method does not work.

AFAIK (As far as I know)...
- No DVB T2 tuner in Xiaomi TV boxes.

Most Android TV boxes (regardless of Xiaomi or other brands) don't come with DVB T2 tuner built-in.

IHMO, DVB T2 tuners are quite cheap.

Greygory has already given the advise before that for DVB T2 tuners, just go online (e.g. Taobao.com) and buy 1 -- usually cost only about S$25 - S$30.
