Have to know what genre of music you listen to. Different headphones excel at different genres of music. For that budget maybe the ath m40x is a good choice for all genres of music.

Some models I can think of that are good headphones for the money and sounds really good.

$50 - superlux hd668b
$100- $120 - ath m40x, ath ad500x/ad700x
$150 - $200 - ath m50x, senheisser hd598, hd558
$200 - $500 - sennheisser hd600, senheisser hd650, ath ad1000x

Can audition m40x and m50x at challenger. Senheisser can audition at connect IT shop at most shopping mall. Ath adxxx series only stereo or jaben can audition.

Think you can go stereo or jaben to audition audio technica and Sennehiser easier so you can settle all in one place depending which location is more convenient for you.

Tested M50xx yesterday at PS.. must say it's really good for the price.. sound wise nothing to complain except for me sometimes sound a bit on the bright side.

almost pulled the plug on m50x but based on other reviews and gut-feel decided to opt for m40x instead as i do find the M50x has stronger emphasis on low and high.
