I just check x800 only 250usd with shipping, so quite interested, as long no regional lock, I'm good

Blu ray players most are still region specific.
However for us we fall under Region A same as US thus no big
issue.

http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/info.php

Some Blu ray movies are also region free thus you don't really
need a unlock all region player like DVD era.
Just look out for all region which usually can be seen on the cover.

Some the logo is either all region or region a b and c which means all.
Something like this:

Region%20Code%20Symbols.jpg

Do start hunting for the step down transformer while waiting for the player to arrive.

Get locally like at SLT, if you want since I am also intending to bring
in Sony X800 player.
If I happened to find a reliable and suitable step down transformer
I will share with you guys.

As mentioned, unlike DVD era.
You must buy Code 3 (Asia) player to play local DVD or
region unlock to play Code 1 (US)

Australia is Region B, that doesn't mean you have to source
for region B Blu ray.

http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/info.php

All UHD disk no region lock.

Depend on Movie studio as mention here,
http://www.ebay.co.uk/gds/Blu-Ray-Region-Code-Information-/10000000007380407/g.html

Warner
Paramount
Starz / Anchor Bay
Magnolia
Razor
Platinum Disc
Eagle Rock Ent
Concert Hot Spot
R&B Films
BCI
HBO
First Look Pictures

These studios Blu ray movies are region free but you can search
in Blu ray.com to double confirm.
Unlike DVD era, Blu ray you just have to look for Region Free/All region
Blu ray disc if you have a different region player.

No need to mod/source for blu ray player that is unlock.
Hope this helps.

Twice I have requested Sony SG on their facebook
as well as others to bring in the X800 since March this year.
Twice they have turn down such request proably due to SG market
trend they decide not to bring it in.

You can try ask Sony SG since I fail, if they don't give you a
proper answer better off just buy from Amazon US.

Are there any 4k UHD blu ray rentals out there?

Or all must buy only

Rida Video Center as mentioned in my earlier post.

You can either buy from Poh Kim rather expensive at $49.90
which comes with standard Blu ray.
Or can rent from Rida Video Centre Coronation Shopping Plaza.
For those taking MRT, nearest is Botanic Garden.

For Rida they do sell both 4K Ultra HD
as well as rental. Really a lot of 4K Utra HD from US while some
are local 4K.

Any title you need if they don't have, they can bring it in for you.
Do support original disc.

Has anyone done any comparative test in quality between Xbox one S and the so called Pro players like Oppo, Sony and Panasonic?

Any difference in quality? The Xbox is so cheap and easily available on Singapore compared to all the rest.

Just take note that Xbox doesn't have atmos/dts-x Bitstream.

I am told the oppo 203 is quite bad. Maybe the movie is jerky or the audio has problem. X box one S is not spectacular but it is cheap and stable.

I have the Sony X800 and it is super good. Lol!

Oppo - $980 CMI
Sony - US$240 rated 5 star in What hifi
Xbox one S - $300+. For the price quite steady

Any links to the negative reviews of the Oppo 203?

In March. Maybe probably too early. Just recently about 2 months ago. I went to sony Asia website and could see the product x800 is listed there as "available soon". If singapore could get a Z9D 100 inch TV. I don't understand why a x800 ultra bluray player being dropped by Sony sg.
