qualcomm 4xx series should be cheaper than 6xx series.
I recall sd450 specs wise is very close to sd625.

I had suggested renaming to "Redmi 5 and its variants" as in the future, beyond the current 5plus model, there may be redmi 5A, 5X, 5S whatever.

I thought the regular, 'lite' & 'pro' is the different in clock speed..

MSM8953 >> SD625 Octa-core up to 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53
MSM8953lite >> SD625 Octa-core up to 1.8 GHz Cortex-A53
MSM8953pro >> SD625 Octa-core up to 2.2 GHz Cortex-A53

MSM8953lite is the down-clocked of Snapdragon 625, also known as Snapdragon 450.

MSM8953 is Snapdragon 625.

MSM8953pro is the higher-clocked of Snapdragon 625, also known as Snapdragon 626.

You're right, thanks for the clarification! Apart from the clock speed different and added support for full HD+18:9 screen resolution, sd450 is very similar to the sd625/626 series.

Can redmi 5 connect to 5G wifi? My redmi 4x can't, every month exceed data plan

Sent from Xiaomi REDMI 4X using GAGT

dun really get wat u want to said though, like 4x is still able to connect to wifi, but its just that its a 2.4ghz band (means no dual band with 5ghz)

as for 5ghz band on redmi 5 i think probably dun have. (even though the official technical specs are not out yet)

Redmi 5 Plus should have 5G WiFi, since it uses Snapdragon 625 but don't know will Xiaomi stripped the feature off to cut down budget :o

when u say 5G wifi, it is actually 5GHz wifi.
802.11 wifi has 2.4GHz and/or 5GHz.

Basically, 5GHz provides faster data rates at a shorter distance. 2.4GHz offers coverage for farther distances, but may perform at slower speeds.

In other words, whether u use 2.4GHz or 5GHz, it should not affect how much data you use every month. Exceeding data plan is a function of how you had been using the phone for data.

Would be better to get the Redmi 5A, since the repair cost would likely be the same price as a new Redmi 5A.
