Refer to post #3511. I has been discussed very recently, but I am sure it is not a recent problem.

SP4 owners here, do anyone of you here experiencing serious screen flicker issues whereby half of my screen is flickering making the text/images hardly readable. If would be good to share with me if you guys manage to fix it. I have read thru many articles and tried most of the fix but have no luck on it. Worse is my warranty is over and heard that Microsoft will charge a expensive replacement fees.

what were you doing at that point of time?

Sucks right. Every time it flickers, need to shut down let it cool for 10 mins.

Microsoft should have recall all those with such issue for replacement lor. So f up.

First and last time I'm gonna get the surface product.

tweak the CPU settings and set Max CPU to 99 percent. this prevents turbo from kicking in buy the surface stays so much cooler

can provide details how to do it? i'll try it and monitor if it works.

is it like this : https://forums.windowscentral.com/m...-no-more-throttle-fans-surface-pro-3-4-a.html

any reason for 99% rather than other %?
let me try to find the links again but yes it is similar need to regedit to allow the CPU settings to be shown in power Options.

The key thing I read is that the throttling to 99 percent prevents turbo from kicking in which heats up the processor and the surface.

U can feel free to set lower if u want to

does ur machine have flickering issue before the tweak? and does this helps? i read that the flickering screen issue is a result of the heat up so hopefully this could resolve the issue.

yes.. it is supposed to help for this based on other surface owners. that's why I mentioned in the first place.

so far it seems to help for mine too.

you can try if u want else it's alright

I got to try it regardless. Tried every other method but none works. This issue shouldn't happen in the first place. Damn Microsoft.

Even using excel(their own product) on their machine feels sluggish.

surface pro display flicker

seem like quite a number of users having the same problem . was at sim lim laptop repair shop , was told that this is a very common problem with surface pro 4 , changing the display will cost $300 plus , but the problem will SURFACE again in a few months time ... Damm sickening , considering this is a premium product. Best part is Microsoft support cant guarantee the problem wont come back even if you opt to exchange for a refurbished set for $800.
