Hi! I'm going to Perth with my wife in the 1st week of May. I've come up with the following draft itinerary after reading through the different suggestions and itineraries.

What do you guys think? :s12:

Are there any fruits to pick during the first 2 weeks of May? Which orchard is better?

Btw, has anyone taken hot air balloon in Perth over the avon valley before? Is it worth the $350/pax?

1. Day 1 (Friday)
Arrive Perth at 1pm
Fremantle

2. Day 2 (Saturday) Fremantle to Albany
Stops at Williams, Kojonup, Mount Barker
Porongurup National Park (for Castle Rock / Granite Sky Walk)
Albany

3. Day 3 (Sunday) Albany to Walpole
Frenchman Bay (worth the trip?)
The Gap and Natural Bridge
Elephant Rocks
Denmark Animal Farm & Pentland Alpaca Stud
Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk (or maybe the next day morning?)

4. Day 4 (Monday) Walpole to Margaret River
Gloucester Tree
Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse
Hamelin Bay
Margaret River

5. Day 5 (Tuesday) Margaret River
Margaret River Chocolate Co
Canal Rocks
Sugarloaf Rocks
Voyager Estate Winery
Sunset at Surfers Point

6. Day 6 (Wednesday) Margaret River to Bunbury
Busselton Jetty

7. Day 7 (Thursday) Bunbury to Perth
Mandurah Dolphin Cruise
Little Creatures Brewery

8. Day 8 (Friday)
Lancelin Sand Dunes
Pinnacles
Kings Park

9. Day 9 (Saturday)
Caversham Wildlife Park
Swan Valley

Day 10 - early morning flight home

It's nice to take hot air balloon, but not at the price where you could effectively fly from SG to Perth again.

9. Day 9 (Saturday)
Caversham Wildlife Park
Swan Valley

After spending all that time in the MR region, the worst thing you can possibly do is to go to Swan Valley. :s13: May be give yourself a slightly easier day 8 and go to Kings Park on day 9 instead.

Anw it's my brother solo driving throughout the trip, but 1 thing to note is.. He haven't been driving (in sg) for more than 2yrs. So I'm kinda worried whether he can manage the traffic/car in Perth after so long. Although he did drove in nz with his friends last month, I'm still worried after seeing many accidents happened in aust

Haha. I was just afraid that there would be nothing much to do in the city itself, seeing how so many people have mentioned not to spend too mixh time in Perth City itself.

It's still better than going to Swan Valley after you've been to Margaret River. :s13:

I guess the concern is the long drive on day 8 - the pinnacles are quite far away so you want to maximise the time you have available on that day.

Ok, point taken! Is there anything else to do near pinnacles / Lancelin sand dunes?

Yanchep national park?

Thanks, will look up on that. For day 6, MR to Bunbury, anything else to do? Not really interested in caves.

Or should I do MR to Perth instead?

Btw, should I stay at Fremantle or West Perth? Saw some of you saying that Fremantle is not that safe at night..

No difference actually, because in Perth, you almost have to drive to anywhere.

IMO, you should just do MR to Perth.. spend some time at Elizabeth quay and Yagan square.

Ah ok. From the photos seems like mostly just grassland to see over the Avon valley. Just wondering whether you’ve taken hot air balloons elsewhere?

Yes its mostly grassland and a little cramp in the hot air balloon. Mine took off from Northam Airport (Windward Balloons), which was quite a drive (~2hrs) from where I was staying especially in the dark (you have to be there by 6 or 7am iirc). After the whole trip, you have to help keep the balloon and then breakfast with a glass of champagne.
