I also like Maxtor harddisk. Much faster and quite then some other brand. From the poll, many user still did not know how good Maxtor is.

Maxtor for me when i switched over to mac.

Been with seagate but dieded on me once after 2 months of usage. RMA was fast and easy.
Seagate sata sat on my G5, very slow read/write. sad to say.

Change to maxtor eversince, happy user of 4 maxtor hard disk

160gb, 3x 250 gb

2 were raided

like say a 80GB HDD is 74+GB even before formatting?

Maxtor = Seagate now!

HDD quality? Heard from someone who used to worked in Maxtor(SG) and Seagate(Malaysia).
Seem that they have common practise..
Reliable parts that build the HDD usually shipped to IBM or DELL or APPLE.
new suppliers or new parts that build the HDD usually shipped to places like SIM LIM.
Downgraded drives also shipped to places like SIM LIM.. so..

the two Gs refer to different things.

for os, 1G = 1024*1024*1024
for harddisk manufacturer: 1G = 1000*1000*1000
