calmex Abalone

is calmex still the "locos" chilean variety? cuz when i was around san diego california, its been said that most of the calmex on the market now are from oceanfoods (californian company), and are just harvested across the border, thats why termed as "mexican".

anyone has opinions on cedmex? also supposed mexican origin imported by sun kee singapore?

yeah same. We dun eat much but for the sake of CNY we get them de lo. :o

quality abalone in the can wont shrink one。。
moi scare other brand might shrink。。
anyway calmex abalone will cost very much more this yr due to oil leak earlier off the coast of mexico。。

many brands dont seem to shrink :eek:

there's this huge 1/can australian brownlip.. can's the size of the normal canned peach tins.. going for about $76 or $80

all sorts of food also shrink.. chicken, pork, fish, lamb, beef will also shrink.

this year new contender from goh joo hin!! california mexico abalones~ premium size and quality.. approx $88 per can.. black can is yellow abalone.. red can is blue abalone. should be available at most cold storages

was also a sponsor at the launch of leslie tay's book. heard that the black can one is yummier than the red can.. but guess its a matter of preference

the packaging feel more atas ~
considering to buy for my in laws, but also looking at tam kah's canned abalone.. stuff that's going at $200/can and not big abalone.. like 10 pieces per can.. i wonder why is it so elite :eek:

but elite it may look. But the packaging looks modern.. Not very oriental like say New Moon.lol
