Non alu case, after cut, paint chip off, cut area too little, result in more rough finishing. a lot of to touch up after that.

Hi energizer,

Just an enquiry...

DO you have foam paddings ?
Want to foam pad the side panel of my Phantom, try reduce sound levels.

Also I'm planning to get a H60 but want to use a push pull for it.
Any possible way I can mount an extra fan on the outside of the 120mm exhaust while still having the rad mounted on the hole from the inside ?

@ mr.voodoo, u need a another set of screw. h60 should use M3.5 size screw. fan is 25mm thickness, u need around 27-28mm. if screw too long, add rubber dampener in between or washer.

@tarui, its Lianli A71F black. Modded top for radiator.

Hi, if I planning to mod the side panel mounting fan plate of Corsair Obs 550D, by replacing it with a clear window, how much would it be?

i need to see the rear side of the panel. most likely can. $40 if i do not need to cut on the panel further.

$60-70 if u want the windows to open up larger ( include the acrylic ) .

Hi, I won't be enlarging the window, as I would like to side panel cover of the original 550D to be able to close back the "window" should I want to.

I do not have the side panel with me now so for the moment I will just use photos from other thread to preview first:

As you can see the original casing comes with the panel "cover"

If seen from the outside, the metal plate seem to be concave inward at the edges (while from the rear side the metal plate appear to be convex or protrude out.)

The screw holes for fans can be use to mount the acrylic as well, I dun really mind, but I prefer the acrylic to be mounted from "inside" rather than outside (becz of the side panel to cover as stated earlier)

P.S: All photo credits goes to Ravener.

Estimated dimension of the cut would be approximately 24x12 cm

Hope the info I provide can help :)

now i see the big picture.

in order to mount the windows, the entire mesh part ( the depressed in area ) has to be removed. the cut area will be flush with the panel. it is exactly like cutting a windows on a flat panel. the amount of work is the same.

acrylic is flat, so the acrylic must sit flat on the flat part of the panel.

$70 for the job + the acrylic. 1week.

attached is picture of the proposed cut area.

Actually my idea was more of a this kind.

Modcase.jpg

Red boundary is the area that is need to be cut off

The blue boundary is the size of the acrylic panel that is suppose to be place in.

Reason: So that there still remain an depression for the side panel cover to "seat" back or cover it back.

cutting straight line, x 4 lines is always easier & much faster than doing the curves :)

on average, i complete a normal mod in about 2hours. include, drawing, preparing the tools, touch up & cleaning up the area. then the tools.

for your suggested mod, i estimate an extra 30mins-45mins. u see, i not trying to smoke u & and being long winded, but i always explain to all customers coming to me for any modding services if the mods are less straight forward.

to cut a straight, only need steady hand & just go straight. can finish a line in about 15-30seconds. very fast right, but that's before filling down to smoothness later part & further touch up.

to cut a curve, small curve the size of 50cends coin, may need like 10-15 seconds. stop, turn the panel, continue another curve. stop, turn & continue & repeat & repeat till the entire cut is complete. then after that, need to file down to smooth finishing & further touch up. Much much more work bro !

for this time, i charge the same as the normal one. cheers.

when i saw the small curved cuts, i was already thinking how hard it is to do..

btw, i'm planning to have my front header i/o ports for the HAF932 sleeved.. still busy now but will drop by your shop soon.

took a sample pic from your site.

Ok thanks bro! Just give me more time to consider as I have a tight budget right now, but once I finalised the decision to go ahead with it, I will bring the side panel to your shop on the very day I purchase the Corsair 550D :)
