If you always make purchases in foreign currencies or when overseas, you may wish to charge your purchases to Maybank Horizon Card.

For overseas purchases or purchases in foreign currencies, you will earn 5X Treats' Points.

Currently Maybank allows you to use your Treats Points to convert to Cash to offset your bill (it works like rebates):
Platinum tr'eats Exclusive > Cards > Personal > Maybank2u.com Singapore

For every 12,500 points, you can redeem for S$50. Which means that so long you charge S$2,500 in foreign currency, you will get 12,500 points (S$1 equivalent will get you 5 points).

So that works out to 2% cash rebate (as 2% of S$2,500 will give you S$50).

Yes, it will include hotel and airfare. It will exclude cash advance or purchase of casino chips (as they label that as quasi-cash transaction) or the fees levied on account (e.g. annual fee).

amex is not widely accepted worldwide while visa is. In addition, amex has higher charges for foreign transaction.

That is 100% correct.
Also, some may notice their call center only work office hour. Unless you lost your call. Dont call them !

If we are comparing vouchers, then Maybank Horizon card will earn x5 Treat points (TPs) transactions in foreign currencies all year round.

For the same amount (S$2.4K transacted), one will have 12K TPs.
One could enjoy 50% off Treat Vouchers on your birthday month and redeem a $50 treat vouchers with 5K TPs under the Reward Infinite program.

The balance 7K TPs, one could use 6K TPs to redeem another $30 Treat Vouchers.

Some total, you will get $80 Treat vouchers with 1K TPs for your future redemptions. :D

And we had yet to factor in the 1.8% (OCBC) vs 1.5% (Maybank) foreign currency admin charges. :)

Maybank Horizon definately best for foreign curency spending.

Only prob is that you might meet the requirements and yet get rejected when applying for the card.

I got mine on the 3rd try!

RI is free for 1st year. Subsequent RI annual fee is $10.70.
As for Horizon credit card annual fee, i managed to get it waived for few years running.
So yes, it is worth it. However, like other miles ppl, i used TPs for FFP mileage which is more worthwhile in my opinion. :D

Rewards Infinite - 1st year auto inclusion or must enrol upon receiving the CC?
