Salas set for River?

There are conflicting reports coming out of South America regarding Marcelo Salas’ proposed move to River Plate.

A wide variety of sources claimed that the Argentine club had agreed a loan move for the out of favour Juventus player.

The Buenos Aires club would pay the Bianconeri around £350,000 for the Chilean’s services next term.

But River chief Jose Maria Aguilar seems to have poured cold water on suggestions that a deal has been done.

"It would be great for Salas to come back here but it is very difficult, very difficult indeed," he is quoted as saying.

Juventus are having a nightmare summer in trying to offload the expensive international.

The Italian club had set up moves to Paris SG, Monaco, Sporting Lisbon and Real Betis but the player rejected all of them.

Salas has put off his return to Italy by a week as he desperately tries to find a suitable destination for the new season.

Juve set to keep Mauro

Mauro Camoranesi’s agent is confident that his client will remain with Italian champions Juventus.

The player’s future was cast into doubt as he angered the club after turning up late for pre-season training.
"The situation still isn’t resolved but I don’t see too many problems," noted Pastorello. "In the next few days we will look to talk to the club."

Transfer chief Luciano Moggi was so furious about the Argentine’s no show that he threatened to sell the player.

"After hearing the statements from the past few days we’re looking to find out what the club’s true intentions are," added the agent.

Another potential problem is represented by Camoranesi’s desire for a new improved contract in Turin.

"We only want what we were promised and that is a contract extension," added Pastorello. "We’ll meet up soon to iron out the situation."

Reports over the last few days had suggested that Camoranesi could move to Lazio in a swap deal with Stefano Fiore.

Stories in England are also suggesting that the Bianconeri are interested in Arsenal winger Robert Pires.
