I thought might as well just start one now to discuss and share knowledge with one another.

Cheers! ;)

Embedded Security Chip

Hi, let me start....

Every thinkpad (at least T40 series) comes with a embedded security chip.

However, when we buy the laptop, the ESC is not installed.

You would need to go to IBM website, go to Support and Download to get the software.

After that, you would need to install them and voala, you get the best security software!

The files you need to download and install is

LPCSETUP, CSSMBUSDRIVERPKG, CSEC510US_003H and PWMGR120US_001D.

BT

I bought mine at around $5299, can't remember how much is the additional 512 MB ram.

The IBM Alpha Backpack cost me $186, direct from IBM.

I am now waiting for the IBM direct to get me the desktop keyboard with USB Hub.

I have tried the BT with my nokia 8910. It works well, I think. Cause my TP can talk to my hp, but I do not know what else to do with it.... :D

Overall, I am very very very please with this beast. It rocks! At best of all, I can play game on it!

Don't ever try to play games on MACs (very limited games, and very very expensive!), Portege 2000 (graphics card not really fantastic).

Hi, just got my T40 too... 72A, and wondering how do I set my CPU speed to be 1.5GHz all the time? Coz' I think sometimes it will slow down to only a few hundred MHz?

I've got an R40 from NUS which has Outlook probs.. haha dunno how to set the thing...

Otherwise very satisfied with it. WAH $5299 on a laptop!

Now only wish that they offer Thinkpads in colours other than black:D

I think you hit the Access IBM button and look for the Battery Maximiser Wizard... there should be something there to set the CPU speed to Maximum (depending on which power profile you choose)
