Dear Terumo,
Any drawbacks of having a different system in the house (R22 and R410)?

I understand that different piping may have to be used?

When will R22 gas be available until?

Thank you!

Same piping can be used for r22 & r410. Min gauge i recommend is G23 copper pipe.
R22 should be available till 2020.

hi terumo and all AC experts here,

Am a noob when coming to aircons and I'm having some issues here - hope you guys could help me out.
i'm renovating my place which is a resale.
will be changing the aircon units and compressors but am thinking of keeping the pipings due to them being concealed.
the questions:
- is it fine to keep the pipings? they are around 14 years old and the air from existing units is still cooling. (know i asked before but now with the wardrobes gone, i get to see the pipes and hoses and they looked very good)
- or should i change them?
- am thinking of mitsubishi but the aircon guy suggested daikin...is mitsubishi better in value?
- am thinking of getting inverters for bedrooms and non-inverters for living room but the aircon guy said no diff in terms of prices...is that true??
the reason of getting non-inverter for living room is becos we wouldnt be switching it on that often..maybe when there are guests.
Bedrooms are the ones used daily.
- aircon guy quoted 9000BTU for bedrooms and 12000BTU for living room...are these specs okie?

please advise and thanks! :)

I more or less confirm this Panasonic model liao. CU-3S27MKZ

About $2800 from Gaincity without bracket but 9k x 2, 12k x1 with upgraded tube and insulation but not the best one. Free removal of old air-con unit if give them the old one to salvage parts. Bracket need to top up $150 as old bracket is system 2 and old liao cannot use back.

Hi terumo and all experts,

Just bought a 2nd hand HDB flat with 3 bedroom and 1 study room.
Size:
Living room: 40 sqm (including all open area)
Study room: 11.5 sqm
Master bedroom: 16.5 sqm
Bedroom 2: 12.5 sqm
Bedroom 3: 13.2 sqm

How much cooling capacity do I need for each room? I searched some discussion but still get confused.
Living room & Master room will use aircon frequently, other rooms will seldom use...
Here is my plan now:

1-2 (living room + study room)
Mitsubishi: MXY-3A28VA + MSY-GE18VA & MSY-GE10VA, or
Daikin: 3MKS71ESG + FTKS50FVM & FTKS25DVM

1-3 (3 bedrooms)
Mitsubishi: MXY-3A28VA + MSY-GE13VA & MSY-GE10VA*2, or
Daikin: 3MKS71ESG + FTKS35DVM & FTKS25DVM*2

How do you think about this? Can I replace Daikin 3MKS71ESG with 3MKS50ESG if I will not open the indoor units at the same time?

Thanks a lot.

Thanks terumo,

I am considering giving up 1 room, that is, only units for 1 living room and 3 bedrooms.
Would you recommend 1:4 systems? Would they worse than 1:3 systems?
Thanks again.

To ckchu0630,

For Mitsubishi Starmex System 3 Compressor MXY3A28VA & System 4 MXY4A28VA,the capacity is roughly the same.

Would you recommend 1:4 systems? Would they worse than 1:3 systems?
Optional: MXY4A28VA x1 combine with MSYGE24/18VA + MSYGE13 + MSYGE10 x 2
or One single split system for living + One system 3 compressor for 3 bedroom
(install two compressor need approval from HDB)

Thanks ikingsleyu,

Considering the price and seldom turning on the unit in the living room and the unit in a bedroom at the same time, I may choose the system 4 option.

Would the length of copper piping be a problem in a 5-room unit? Would gain city charge for long piping?

To ckchu0630,

For the extra piping length issue, you can direct call gain city showroom hotline for more information...try to make sure and sign confirmation before make any payment.

Hi terumo and AC experts here.

Just bought resale HDB 2+1.

We need an aircon for both bedroom and living room. Living room aircon will be seldom use like in party or any family gathering (very rare maybe twice or 3 times a year).

Place is without aircon. Bedroom is small.. more or less size of 2 queen size beds.

We normally just use aircon during sleep. But over weekend.. may use for 24 hrs straight.. is this even good? hehe

Any recommendation and what is more or less the price? I have no idea. And where to buy too? Gaincity is what i always see so far in the thread... read some..

Thank you.

Dear folks here,

need some advice.

1) i am choosing between panasonic inverter sys 3 and starmex.
Some sales person told me panasonic will be slightly noisy if its for old HDBs without aircon ledge. Anyone heard this complaint before?

2) Gain city is trying to sell me the extended warranty for 4 more years, is it worthwhile to get this?

3) do i need to upgrade the insulation materials on pipes? Mine is not concealed piping.

Guys, any recommendation for a System 3 inverter aircon? Less than 4hrs a day usage.

Price wise not exceeding 3k.

To nomad7650,
Ur living room square area? Any door for the kitchen area?

To cooldudey,
Panasonic is slightly noiser when running in full load operation based on my friends feedback.
However, do not worry as inverter aircon are generally quiet.

Terumo,
I am in a dilemma, Should i trust allbxxt and go with them? They have unbeatable pricing 2600 for pana but feedback on installation seems not good and lots of complaints from the forums.

Or should i go to GC and not save the 300-400..

And do i need to buy the 5 year warranty that is almost $400..

Urrghhs, buy aircon also so troublesome...
