a) No, anyway all VQ users on fibernet plan got static IP, so what's the need of DDNS?

Yes, as batboyz suggests, every VQ subscriber gets their own Static IP. You will need to write to VQ for your preferred domain name.

While it is great to have our own Static IP address, some consider keeping their existing DDNS to avoid messy changes should our Static IP change over time. With the DDNS in place, it is just a simple case of pointing to the new IP should that change occur.

Cheers

Considering the fact Comcast is 1 of the main ISP in USA, this speed test should be more accurate compared to Speedtest's which always seem to be giving sub-par speed on some "ulu" servers :s22:

It depends on whats your needs are. If you don't need any of the special features that the RT56 may or may not offer, then i would use only the zhone as it would be simpler. One device that does everything.

But if you have particular needs, or you would like to have some complex network setup then we can configure the zhone as a bridge and you are free to use any router.

We give you the power of choice. But don't just use another router because you think it might give you better performance. The zhone can deliver in excess of 900mbps on wired performance.

Actually i want to use the zhone only as i'm a complete noob. But my rt56 router is less then 5mth old.

Is Netrounds BBQ tests showing accurate claims in ISPs download/upload both locally and internationally over Speedtest? :D

Looks like it and ViewQwest best in all tests (download/upload/latency) less US upload over SingTel 300Mbps ;) something needs to be look into VQ?

ViewQwest 300Mbps ~ Local
Download ~ 316.3mbps
Upload ~ 155.2mbps
Latency ~ 3.5ms
ICMP Ping ~ Nil (VQ refused it)

BBQ-SG.png

SIngTel 300Mbps ~ Local
Download ~ 321.4mbps
Upload ~ 158.2mbps
Latency ~ 3.5ms
ICMP Ping ~ 4.1ms 88% loss

amazonspeed_zps5a459bb1.jpg

I need more over-provisioning for local as compared to SingTel :s13: Hint Hint @ VQ :p
Hmmm... Makes me wonder what's the percentage of over-provisioning of SingTel and ViewQwest.

ST - 15%?
VQ - 10%?

What is the usual network overhead calculation practice? 20%?

;)

So the IPv6 implementation in the Asus black diamond series of routers does not support VQ's IPv6 infrastructure.
Anything up to now? Even if have to static assign IPs

VQ has a more direct path to comcast network, so the speed should be better on VQ.

Thank you so much for the test. Just had OpenNet check my port 2 with my port 1 currently running my M1 Fibre 100 Mbps connection. The test really gives me the confidence of a better experience seeing not only the overall speed increase but the overall ping decrease as well.

My current M1 Fibre 100 Mbps speed to Comcast.

who are those? :O

anyway it seems like Speedtest.net is so 2012? Everyone's moving to benchmarking overseas servers now that they are maxing out the local speedtests everytime :D...

Ah consumers... never satisfied :D

Due to special reason, tested against locations of great interest..... Interesting results, esp. latencies.

You're welcome. Dont forget to spread awareness of the Xfinity test in the M1 fibre thread if you frequent that..users will appreciate alternate test site :o

The reports are based on how much Youtube you watch. You obviously watch more than me :s13::s13:

International speeds can fluctuate quite dramatically depending on several factors such as time of day, congestion on the other end, type of server etc..

Try running your speedtests to the same location, and same server, at different times in the day and see if you notice a difference. Also, remember that speedtests are not always the best indicator of speed (though, granted they are the quickest and easiest way to get a rough indication ;)). Best way is to get a download manager and do some multi-threaded downloads of large files (1GB+ is best).

This seems a bit low, but that may have to do with the seeds you're connecting to (some seeders purposely limit their upload bandwidth for certain reasons...not going to point any fingers...*cough* Darkmatt *cough* ;)).

Could also have to do with you're utorrent configuration. I'd suggest googling optimal configuration setups and try again with the same torrent - if you don't notice any improvements, try a different one (for testing purposes, we've found the Ubuntu torrents usually have some pretty good seeds: Alternative downloads | Ubuntu)
