Hmm... You are right. These photo indeed are out of focusing. Ok...Aga aga distances like these shots right? I will test it out when I have the chance. BTW, I hope you actually did the half-press to let it auto focus first right? What about using the built-in camera app?

Yes half press...
I've never use the build in app for so far on 1020..

No problem. I give it some tests too. Light seems sufficient for these shots though, by right so shouldn't have any problems... Perhaps Pro cam has some bugs lurking around after all....

LB, try using Touch Focus instead of half-press.

Do you all find taking close up shots is kind of difficult with 1020? Somehow I need to be pretty far away in order to be in focus. Even setting manual focus also can't be too close. Seems like 925 can be much closer to the object.

minimum distance is 15cm for macro shots...basically the photos you see are re-frame after shooting.

dear 1020 owners

a few questions from a 808 shooter :)
  1. how is the camera startup and shot-to-shot times?
  2. does it have hyperfocal focusing mode? downloaded PDF manual, didn't see it; i use this mode on 808 for candid street photography; really cuts down reaction time
  3. how is high ISO performance in low-light?

With a bit of patience, Nokia Lumia 1020 can take photos comparable to SLR :)
Sorry Sony... Z1 is only as good as Nokia Lumia 925.

More amazing shots!! (must see) :

Now remember, that's a full 3072 x 1728 resolution photo. Not a tiny 1000x700 posted on Sony's Facebook page :)
Once this is scaled down to that level, it'll look even better a lot!

Pics data

Hi LastBattle,

Great Pics post#48 :)

Just curious, will you be able to tell if

1) the picture is taken at original AUTO setting

2) the picture is taken at Manual / Change ISO settings or Exposure Value

3) Picture taken then adjusted through Nokia Creative Suite or Third Party Apps
to enhance

Just by looking at the EXIF data or other ways?
can see these data through Flickr? how ?

reason: ie if random TROLL ever doubt what you are saying / the pics, there is a easy way to show "proof"

Thanks!

Oh 15cm.... Kinda far to do macro imo. But well....

Anyways, took a quick shot on my way to market this morning... The 5MP photo is really amazing with the details! Look at the fence grills @ the balcony.... And also the leaves of the tree in the foreground. Oversampling is nice. I think I will keep only the 5MP photos next time in the phone.

Check out the EXIF on Flickr :) Its mostly taken with the following settings:

-2~3.2 second shutter
-0 EV
-100 ISO
-Infinity focus
-No LED/Xenon flash, no assisted focus
-ambient light for white balance

The last one will be luck, since the Flyer does shake a bit depending on the movement of people inside..

If I don't have a stable platform for night shots, I usually just set everything to auto and shoot in high ISO with a fast shutter.

No, they are not edited at all :) I do save my 34MP photos to back them up.

start up depends on what lens you use. The pro cam is a little slow.

there is no hyperfocal specifically but the options far exceed what there is in the 808.

I have both and I think there is more control with the 1020. The internal Nokia name by the way is the 909..

It's very simple. When in Auto-mode, the camera AI will always default to high ISO shooting at night. Only manual setting will be ISO 100 with shutter speed 2s.

Not bad right LB? I quite chun ah? You can also try ISO 400 1s for a bit less motion blur.

Yes.. Looking at the shots taken by Z1 is already good by standards, and now I won't even look back and say the Z1 is good.

Well if you're using 808 as a shooter first & phone secondary, it's better to hold on to it.

The 808 has a dedicated image CPU while the 1020 doesn't. That's now since the 1020 just launched.

However, over time, Nokia can do more with the 1020 that's not possible on the 808 because it's hardware based. The 1020 also have a OIS which an EIS can't substitute.

As we move towards WP8.1, you may want to relook at the 1020.

I've tested the macro. It seems to be a weak point for the 1020 lens. Will take more photos and do an in-depth review in a week or 2.
