Has anyone been on fantastic overseas trips anywhere (Asia, Europe, Oceania, Africa, America, etc.) and have some beautiful and fascinating makan to share?

Even makan from day trips to Malaysia are perfectly welcome.

Maybe you are a Singaporean living overseas too, and you simply can't wait to show off your exotic makan with Singaporeans.

So this thread has been created for food photographers currently living overseas or in another country for holiday, to upload and share their good (or even ugly) makan photos.

So what are you waiting for? Get out your cameras, show off your shutterbug skills and share your overseas makan here!

I'll start the ball rolling with an extremely ugly picture of a peanut butter bagel, that tasted better than it looks. it's from a small cafe in New Zealand.

Pompi Tiramisu - Must Try!! (Italy, Rome)

This is real good! near the Spanish Steps. If you need the map click here.
IMG_9981+(A).JPG

There was no fanciful decoration outside the shop, not even a signboard. Yet a constant stream of people walked in and out of it. Those who walked out either carried a box each or had several boxes! Some of them opened the box and started eating while walking. Others stood outside the shop and ate. As we try our best not to be obvious, we 'discreetly' found out that the box contained Tiramisu and most people had one box each!

Tiramisu Classico Caffe e Cioccolato 4 € (S$6.27)
The Classic Chocolate Tiramisu was out of the world. The coffee soaked biscuits were soft, spongy and moist. The layers of biscuits and mascarpon complemented each other perfectly in terms of texture and flavour. It had a fresh, smooth, light and soft consistency and the right balance in taste. Moreover, flakes of chocolate with cocoa dusting added on top resulted in a bitter sweet twist! What a heavenly treat! How could we stop at one!

Tiramisu Gusto Fragola 4 € (S$6.27)
The taste of the strawberries created an unique harmony with the the mascarpon and gave a lighter and sweeter experience! So Satisfying. We both agreed that if we had to choose between one, the Strawberry Tiramisu would have our votes.

The queue at McDonald's was terrible, snaking all the way out of the restaurant. One of my tour mate got tired of waiting so both he and I decided to go try this sushi place called Sushi Kyotatsu. This traditional old-Tokyo style sushi shop offering authentic sushi seem like a favourite with travelers when I checked the internet on reaching home.

Sushi Kyotatsu
Narita International Airport Terminal 1 Third Satellite
3rd Floor
Tel: 0476-32-1777
Business Hours: 8:30am to 9pm (last order 8.30pm)

Behind the counter were 5 Sushi Chefs working to get the orders out. The shop wasn't big, at most can sit only about 30 persons and definitely no space for the luggage which you have to leave at the entrance area.

They have Wild Blue Fin Tuna Set promotion but we did not ordered that when the Chinese waitress came to take our orders.

While waiting for out orders to be served, the large glass window afforded us a view of the airport. A Plane was parked in front of us and was in the process of being pushed back by pushback tractor.

My tour mate's Nigiri Tatsu (¥2000/S$25) plate came with Ebi Nigiri (cooked prawn), Ikura Gukan (salmon roe), Tai Nigiri (seabream snapper), Tekkamaki (tuna roll), Tamagoyaki (omelette) to name a few.

My ¥2800 (S$35) Nigiri Miyako came with Amaebi Nigiri (sweet shrimp), Ikura Gukan (salmon roe), Tamagoyaki (omelette), Toro Nigiri (tuna belly), Hotate Nigiri (scallop) and few more. I ate them plain without any condiments to savour their natural sweetness which was so good. Next time you are here, try and taste them for yourself.

Iberico Pork @ Butagumi 豚組. SGD 75/160g. 50% meat, 50% fat. One of the best tonkatsu I've ever had.

IMG_6097.jpg

Beef @ Aronia De Takazawa. The degustation menu was almost SGD400/pax, excluding drinks. Life changing meal.

Soupe d’artichaut a la truffe noire (82€) @ Guy Savoy Paris - One of his signature dishes. I loved the brioche that came alongside.

Cannot remember exactly but probably in Dunhuang along the Silk Route. A local speciality where the food is cooked entirely in the serving dish using heated stones (all the black stuff) instead of a fire. Tasted quite good too.
