I see. Any itinerary planned out for Langkawi and Phuket on your side? For Penang once it's docked those amenities are walking distance? Haven't been to those places!

Any intention to take up royal carribean's excursion? Those seemed pricey but the snorkeling at Phuket seemed attractive.

for penang yes, as if not wrong there is only 1 ferry terminal big enough to dock a cruise ship which is near to many historic places. if you dont mind walking is consider within walking distance, penang has the shortest free and easy timeframe of stopover which is only about 5-6hrs? so suggest just roam around nearby ma as no time to take cable car to penang hill liao haha

excursion seems like pricey from the reviews of some bloggers who went similiar trip on Marine of the Sea, if possible plan your own as taxi will be cheaper ba

if u on enough, just booked a local driver in advance during the stopover at phuket as have plenty of time (more than 10hrs?)

I have not planned my excursion yet. I am looking thru what is available on the excursion page on the royal carribbean website. The cost is shown there for each excursion.

I have been on 5 days RC few years back. For excursion on Phuket, there is no need to join. Just hop onto the free transfer to the island and walk around yourself over there. There are food stalls by the road, gift shops and many nice restaurants. Enough for you all to roam around.

That's some good information there.

Does it apply across the week? Or weekend has another package on their own as well?

Langkawi is not worth leaving the ship. Took a shore excursion, nothing much and it's damn dirty.

What are some of the examples of excursion they have? All along, I thought Langkawi quite nice? I mean their waters.

no need. langkawi I rmb taxis were waiting where the boat docked, but langkawi is mostly about island hopping so not sure the taxi will have much use unless to bring you to a beach.

port klang taxis have fixed price and not worth it to go to KL anw.

I mean does Royal Carribean allow you to 'alight' for free even though you don't buy excursion from them.

But in any case, from the way you mention, it seems like staying on board is the best.

Yes you can always alight for free, except that you have to consider your own transport away from port as there is nothing there.

I alighted for free to Pork Klang to use wifi :s22:

If visiting Malaysia, staying on board is the best. Quite a number of people stay on board as well.

most of the passengers wear berms right? is it cold indoors?

Aircon temp, don't rmb it being too bad.

Don't have to worry about attire, most are in shorts/berms + slippers. Usually just wear slightly better (jeans, shoes) for dinner.

Understand.

Do they STILL cater food for those who remain on board?

Also, do they have GALA dinner like Star Cruises?

yes, food still be catered when the ship is docked...so dont worry u can always go roam around and then back for the dinner

as for the GALA dinner, do you mean like formal night or something? one of the night will be the captain's night hence have to dress formally but i saw some reviews that even jeans and polo are allowed

I bought 1 to try. No luck for me.

Here and there you do get Malaysia signal. Not sure if it's problem with card activation or what but I didn't manage.
