Hi,
I was using Soltek SL75FRN2-L mobo with Athlon XP 2500+ and WD 40gb IDE hardisk.
Then after some time, the mobo spoilt (went sim lim to check, but processor still working)
So i went to Bizgram to buy new mobo. Gigabyte AMD-7VT600P-RZ. Then fix everything back. The new mobo has SATA one.
I fixed everything back and the comp started running as normal.
IDE harddisk detected but cannot boot up.
They ask me to start windows in safe mode, safe mode with networking....or last known good config or start normally.
If i choose start normally, the thing hang.
If i choose start safe mode, the screen will be full of something like partition(1)drivers/mup.dl or something.
Is there something wrong with the mobo and harddisk compactibility?
Harddisk spoil?
Help help...

Just buy another cheap hdd, install your os and boot from there. Slave your old hdd. You can retrieve your data this way.

actually there is, recently swapped out a mobo for a fren, just reinstall windows over the old one, your old data will still be intact.

DEar friends.. need some help here....
1st i replace my old 512mb ram with a 2 x 1 GB ram.. during the installation, i accidentally break one of the heatsink fan blade so i SUPER GLUE back.. i unscrew the heatsink and wipe off partial of the conductivity(thermal glue) on the heat sink and CPU chipset not knowing that it is ESSENTIAL..
the PC works although sometime my LCD SCREEN got "no signal" BUT i noe the CPU IS RUNNING becoz of the LED is blinking..
hahah becoz "no signal" i went to wipe off the ENTIRE PORTION Of the conducitivty on the heatsink and CPU chipset, thinking it might work...
and the system really work....... BUT for a few times onli.. it begin to get alot of error when i am playing games with my desktop and AUTO REstart......... NOW it begin to auto RESTART AS SOON AS it reaches window XP loading page and it happen again and again .....
i tot i might have some software problem so i went to REFORMAT..... but i am unable to successfully reinstall windows perhaps due to the PIRATED winXP disc, and i also borrow from frenz a pirated disc but ALSO APPEARS error during installation (i have original CD key)
THE MAIN question is... i took out a hard disk from my old CPU with win xp LOADED and put in my current pc .. the same problem occurs.. PC AUTO restarts when it reaches win xp loading page.. WHY ??
i went to buy the thermal grease for the heat sink but the same thing still happens.. any idea ppl ?

Might wna check whether your RAMs are fully locked in place. Check to see if the connector is sticking out. Get a new HSF fan, Auto reboot may be because the contact between the HS and CPU is not good - Temp rise, BIOS will auto-ret your com. Finally, please tell me what is the name of the error you had when you tried installing windows. The LCD Screen No signal one can be due to a faulty mobo. That you have to change.

Help help...
regarding this..
you cannot startup because your hard disk drive contains your previous motherboard the drivers, so cannot boot up. one way is to disable your chipset driver (i dont know how, but i seen people doing it) and start up with no drivers, then install your new gigabyte chipset drivers and delete your previous chipset drivers.
you cannot startup when your board drivers are different. to be safe, i suggest a full reformat. hopes this answer your question.
