Well, basically, if ur line is on the Hua Wei DSLAMs, it's preferably changed, be it ADSL or ADSL2+...it's meant for compatibility with the DSLAM, not so much on the profile of the line/service.
However, I may be wrong, since I still do not have a good insight on what these 3 particular registers do...so, for sure, ADSL2+ confirm must put in, for ADSL, depends on what DSLAM ur line is on and worth giving it a try if it's on Hua Wei ADSL2+ DSLAM.
How to identify? Should be quite easy...based on limited knowledge, these Hua Wei DSLAMs are one of the two brand of ADSL2+ DSLAMs which uses Globespan (GSPN) chipset. None of the precedence ADSL DSLAM uses GSPN chipset. So, check the Vendor/Chipset that shows in ur CPE's line info. For SpeedTouch, it's under Broadband Connection | DSL Connection | Details.

Upgrade to R5.4.0.11 or R5.4.0.14 firmware, then make sure that modemoption is in the configuration as per posted in page 50 of this thread.
Make sure u grab the correct R5.4.0.11 or R5.4.0.14 firmware meant for ST585v6. It's available...

The ..... stands for the rest of the :00:00:00.....too long to remember how many of them le...juz modify the cfg file's statement "modemoption=00:06:03:01:00:....the rest leave it as it is. The crucial key factor is the register 2nd to 4th.
Although the modemoption can be modified via CLI, but the command to do so is not specified, thus the best way is to edit the cfg file, and nothing should go wrong.
There is a tool, which I am evaluating now...seems to be a good tool, and quite foolproof. I think I saw someone posted it b4...
To change the modemoption register via CLI, go to ADSL CONFIG command then type MODEMOPTION=00:06:03:01:00:........
Just found the command on the CLI guide. Hope it helps. :)

Eh i using 585i given by singnet firmware 5.3.8.0.0.
The method i use to create bnet games is to assign a public ip for the device then in game applications i added in warcraft 3 the default 6112 thing. Is that the correct way?
Should i update my firmware to 5.4 or the newer 6.1. Will it result in any problems? Must i reconfigure all the wireless settings?

There is no R6.1.0.5 firmware for ST585, only for ST585v6, and there has been reported issues with it, which may indicate unstability. I dun normally recommend something that is not really proven good unless the person on the other end is savvy enuf to know what he is doing and how to troubleshoot and post his findings or solutions to bugs later. :)

There is no ST585i....only ST585 or ST585v6...depending on when u got it. Recent month is ST585v6.

It's there coz it's part of SingNet's template in ST585...but there are pple who flashed generic firmware and use the inbuild wizard to cleanly create new setup, that's when that modemoption will go missing.

Well, u misinterpret the CLI Guide.....coz it is clearly stated in both CLI Guide R5.4.0.14 as well as R6.1.0.5 that the options available are opermode and trace only. The modemoption is shown as example of the display of the configuration, nothing else.
To conclude, modemoption is only changable via editing the configuration file.

Anyone knows if I am able to add in custom firewall rules into the ST585? I would like it to allow MSN Messenger but I can't seems to add the rule into the firewall. I don't want to assigned it under the 'applications'.
Apologies for sounding amateurish but have been out of touch of the ST 585 scene for a while.
Have been using firmware 5.3.2.6 under Generic PPPoE/PPPoA (modified by user) since day 1. Recently, the SN Margin (Up/Down) numbers seems to be worsening compared to before and I am experiencing higher CRC errors. Was thinking whether a firmware might be of any value.
Have been thrudging through the recent posts in this thread and it seems that the 5.4.X.X firmware is the recommended flavour of the month for the ST 585.
Am wondering whethering would upgrading the firmware to 5.4.x.x would be a good idea in my case. As I am NOT an advanced user and would prefer an upgrade that is less painful and hopefully not requiring advanced technical troubleshooting skills given I have almost none. Appreciate any firmware suggestions.

MSN Messenger dun even need port forwarding or firewall rules to be added, as it works seamlessly with the build in ALG.

Sorry... whats ALG? I tried sometime ago that if I don't forward the port, both sending and receiving speed will be very slow.

Search the forum...I believe ALG has been described/explained b4...as it's a rather old technology which is available in almost every broadband router u can find nowadays.
Mine work fine without any port forwarding, and I dun use UPnP at all too. It is even compatible with Messenger Live.

Tried 5.4 bf but later switch back to 5.3.8. I find v5.4 not very stable in getting max speed.
You can get v5.3.8(approve by Singnet) from VRNET if you want it.

Can anyone advise me what is "Subnet Directed Broadcasts" and how to enable and disable it on the ST585?
I am trying to send a magic packet thru the internet from a remote connect to wake my home pc (so that I can use PcAnywhere to do remote control). I have done the appropriate port forwarding. But the only thing stopping me now is the "Subnet Directed Broadcasts" setting.
I am using Depicus' Wol for Windows to send the magic packet. This is the link to the Depicus (http://www.depicus.com/wake-on-lan/wake-on-lan-gui.aspx) website.
Can anyone advise pls. TIA! :)

It's not that difficult...the GUI is more structured...and that's common across enterprise/business level products (structured GUI) while soho-class are mostly messy, unstructured.
Oh, btw, since u have the SS4100 and not in use, care to pass it to me so that I can attempt to unleash it from the crippled firmware?

The wizard is merely a mechanism that generates a new configuration file using templates, thus anything not in the templates and not prompt to enter will not be written in the final output configuration file.
Which password are you referring to? The User Management GUI allows u to change the password (except the blank-name account which SingNet customized template uses).

The Singnet log in password. I can't seem to be able to edit the password without using the wizard.

I telnet into ST585v6 and go into "nat".
What do I do to get nat loopback enabled?
Do I use "ifconfig"?
If yes,
intf = loop?

Thx. I have disabled it.
Some non important issues here.
I was playing (thru telnet) around with it and saved a configuration file in it. Now I can't delete it (delete command only deletes user.ini). No priviledge to in FTP mode. Haha. Hands too itchy.
I tried to do a restore via the Web GUI and got all my settings lost.
BTW, how can I get to use PPPoA instead of PPPoE? I noticed a lot of PPPoA settings in the user.ini file. (Web GUI can only use PPPoE).

Shouldn't be...u can delete any config files coz they are saved in a directory that allows deletion.
U mentioned no FTP, means u using SingNet firmware?
PPPoA mode, u can either use the Web GUI wizard, else u can use the residential CD (can download from my mirror if u dun have it).

I noticed that some guys here flashed their ST585 with non Singnet firmwares. But I am not sure if those will work for ST585 version 6 (which I think is a reduced/cost cutting version).
I can get into FTP but don't even has rights to do a list.
I tried to "delete filename" while in telnet, but the command doesn't accept filename (ironically, the save configuration command asked for a filename). "delete" will delete the user.ini
No option to use PPPoA in the wizard BTW.

There are 2 separate sets of firmwares, one set is for ST585, and the other set is for ST585v6.
Firmwares for ST585 stopped at R5.4.0.14, while for ST585v6, it's at R6.1.0.5.
Listing is only allowed on a particular directory, not the whole ftp server. :D
If u are keen, I can let u know the directory. But it's not meant for generic public least they screwed up the SpeedTouch CPEs and later give the vendor troubles, which I want to avoid at all cost.
Looks like ST585v6 with SingNet firmware is locked down. But still, all u need is juz the residential CD (generic) to configure it to PPPoA, without the need to flash the firmware at all.

I will use the CD (hope this CD is the one you mentioned) that comes with it then.
It's probably better than I don't know about the directory, I have real itchy hands. :D

Is there any firmware update and is it recommended to upgrade for Singnet 10Mbps?
Is there any way to set the region in Wireless Access Point to ASIA instead of the default Europe?

Summarized:
#1: Line out of synch due to Impulsive Noise
Description:
A High CRC and FEC error on the SpeedTouch™585 and SpeedTouch™680, due to
Impulsive Noise caused the line to go temporarily out of synch, which in turn caused
the PPP connection to go down.
Solution:
The Impulsive Noise Protection was improved. Even when the line goes temporarily
out of synch, the PPP connection does not go down.
#2: Double ACK messages
Description:
Double ACK-messages were sent out, resulting in a loss of bandwidth.
Solution:
The issue has been resolved.
#3: Timed Reboot
Description:
Timed reboot has been added.
#4: DHCP Link-sensing
Description:
DHCP Link-sensing has been added. This means that the PPP link will stay up even
when lower layers are out of synch. In case of re-synch, the PPP link need not be
renewed.
#5: DSD Restriction
Description
When Website filtering is activated (online filtering and/or URL white- or blacklisting),
the maximum amount of simultaneous web-surfing TCP connections is around 20,
depending on the type of connection.
Workaround
If you need more users, set Web Browsing Interception to either, automatic mode i.e.
Web Browsing Interception will only be activated when the DSL or PPP is down, or
disable it altogether (set to disabled)
As an alternative, DSD can be disabled via the SpeedTouch™ web GUI.
#6: Broken backward compatibility between R5.4 and R6.1 DHCP configuration
Description:
The configured order of requested options in the DHCP client is important because it
determines the processing sequence in the DHCP client when the ack is received. As
the order of options has changed in software release R6.1, unpredicted behavior can
encounter when upgrading from software release R5.4 to R6.1.
Solution:
Reset your SpeedTouch™ to defaults and reconfigure.

Hi Guys ! Been reading this thread just before i got my ST585v6 and i finally got it a week ago!
Overall, i am satisfied with the 585 till recently i experienced some problems with it.
A Singnet guy came over to check the line yesterday and he says that my line is fine. Well, i hope so...
Here are 2 screenshots of log..
http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/4549/error1gr7.th.jpg (http://img169.imageshack.us/my.php?image=error1gr7.jpg)
http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/8171/error2he6.th.jpg (http://img191.imageshack.us/my.php?image=error2he6.jpg)
i am getting "xDSL linestate down" errors in my log and that disconnects my connection for a while before it comes back on... I also get high CRC and HEC errors...
It might be a faulty 585 and i thought of replacing it
Any solutions ? :s11:
Greatly Appreciated

Check for interference...it appears that there is interference that invoke the DSL Sync drops...
If u read thru this thread, u know that there is even cases whereby due to power-on of a threadmill causing the interference and thus dsl sync drop.....so if u phone line is laid together wif power cord in the same trunking, or ur phone cord placed near a power adapter, etc...interference occurs.

Just wondering if it is common for Singnet 10Mbps to be connected for only 1 to 2 day only before your connection get reset? Asking because I could stay connected normally for more than a week with the same IP without reset when I was on Pacnet.
Not entirely sure what has happened, I just did a fresh install of Win XP Pro, afterwhich, I tried to loging into my ST585 via speedtouch.lan using a new install of IE7, strangely enough, the login and password that I normally use does not work. Am pretty postive, I have keyed in correctly.
Would doing a hard reset help of the modem help? Any other options to consider? Appreciative of any pointers.

Hey Chaicka ! Thanks for the reply :)
i tried moving the 585 around the table, straighten the phone line, plugging the power adapter as far as possible but however, i still get the "xDsl linestate down" errors.
The phone line is rather long but i have made sure that along the way, no other cables or adapters are in the way..
I am wondering now, could it be that the 585 is faulty ?
Will do somemore tests first before changing it :( Looks like its a trial and error issue

Nah nothing will work. It is a IE7 bug. Use other browsers to access your router page or downgrade back to IE6.

See if u can arrange for a line check.
2 mins and get 140 CRC, 111 HEC errors.....that's way too high.
Chance of ST585 being faulty to result in such errors is low...

Thanks for the quick response, that explains alot, although it is still strange a browser's bug could affect the login.
Probably have to install Firefox then, cause my main browswer (Maxthon) no longer works as well since its shelled on top of whichever IE I have installed.

Nothing wrong with 13,980kbps...the profile has been downsized as the technical issue has been resolved, which was why the initial deployment all had the high downstream profile on their line.
13,980kbps is more than sufficient to provide the 10mbps service which u have signed up for.....

Because ADSL2 is more sensitive towards noise right? I'd like to see if I can get better stability with ADSL. Remember my problem? I haven't had time to rewire the lines yet so I want to explore other alternatives in the mean time.
Downloads speeds not so crucial for me. 8mbps is good enough. I signed up for 10mbps is for the upload speed in the first place. :D

not sure can it be forced down to ADSL sync, but if you have a ADSL modem definitely you can surf at max 8Mbps on your existing line. of course, assuming the condition is stable enough to sustain it.

So far, SpeedTouch does not has a dedicated ADSL mode. I believe it's likewise for most of the soho ADSLx gateway routers.
Oh, there is a dedicated ADSL2 mode, which u may wanna give it a try to see if it can force down and stabilize.

multi_adsl2 & multi_readsl2 didn't work. The DSL LED keeps blinking for a few times and then the modem rebooted itself. Guess this doesn't work.

I'm having a strange problem and have not seen it reported anywhere. My router is the ST585v6 (hence this thread) with firmware 6.2.15.5. I have the firewall disabled (through CLI). When I connect to the router via 802.11b/g (PDA) I can access stuff on the LAN (such as the router's admin page). However, I cannot access stuff on the Internet. With my wired connections however, there is no such problem.
I've gone over the CLI pages and just can't seem to see anything wrong. Hostmgr seems to show everything is setup correctly. Does anyone else have this problem? wlif1 is configured similarly to the ethif interfaces.
The PDA has no problems with other routers and getting through those to the Internet so I don't think it's the PDA's configuration.
Would appreciate any help on this. TIA.

Did u correctly disable to firewall, or in turn disabled the NAT?
Btw, make sure u disable the web browser interception feature. It hinders performance and sometimes, NAT sessions.

28-01-2007, 11:39 PM
Yes, I believe I disabled the firewall and not the NAT. I have also disabled web interception. In any case, I decided to switch over to PPPoA and re-do everything - ie. disable firewall etc. and now it is working. The other thing I did differently is that now I am using the default router address 192.168.1.254 whereas before I had it set to 192.168.1.1. It may be due to that too but I'm too lazy to try it right now. I can imagine that some of the routes was hard wired for the default address. Thanks for the response.

Not necessary so...
When u mess around in CLI, alot of the chained settings do not get propagated automatically, thus need to make changes all over the places. That's my experience wif SpeedTouch CLI so far...(the residential series).
There is no hard-coding, thus most probably u miss some areas that need to be changed too.
Anyway, glad that it's working now. We can exchange pointers in the future.

29-01-2007, 07:55 AM
Yes, I probably missed something. Actually that CLI interface is pretty cool - but you're right about the need to check the various settings for consistency. One example is the firewall - even when you disable it from the web GUI, it can be further disabled from the CLI - weird but that's just the way it is. Other than that, it seems quite alright and it's nice to be able to poke around under the hood just to see how things actually work.

I was just toying with the ST585v6 (6.1.9.6). Trying to get the syslog to work. I installed a kiwi syslog daemon on my desktop and tried to configure the router to send messages to my desktop via syslog.
The syslog can only be configured through CLI. The command is systemlog. From there, I followed the CLI guide but still can't get the syslog running. Whenever I entered the IP of my desktop as the destination to send the messages, it says "Destination address should be a net broadcast ip-address." I know when the last octect of an IP is 255, its an broadcast address but I don't think I can set my desktop to use that IP address (e.g. 192.168.1.255) right?
So my next step is to configure the router to send the messages to 192.168.1.255. Walla! I did see some messages appearing in the syslog server. So I did a "saveall" command and log off. But after that, the messages stop appearing on the syslog server.
Right now, I still can't get the system log to work properly. Any help?
Btw, anyone got the 6.2.15.5 firmware yet? I was able to get my hands on it from a source stated in this thread before. It seems that my connection suddenly became "slower" with the new firmware. I think maybe its my settings. Will try to see whats wrong. :s11:

You should set the SpeedTouch to IPoA without NAPT. That should result in no NAT, no firewall (SpeedTouch inbuild). Then u need to set the WAN of ur Firewall to use one of the public ip address of the pool u have been assigned.

You should set the SpeedTouch to IPoA without NAPT. That should result in no NAT, no firewall (SpeedTouch inbuild). Then u need to set the WAN of ur Firewall to use one of the public ip address of the pool u have been assigned.hey thanks chaicka for your quick reply...realli appreciate that.
firstly singtel gave me this
16 LAN IP
---------
58.185.X.X - 58.185.X.X+16
mask: 255.255.255.X
WAN IP
------
58.185.Y.Y(SingTel)
58.185.Y.Y(Customer)
mask: 255.255.255.Y
DNS servers
-----------
165.21.83.88
165.21.100.88
i tried to setup the firewall in No NAPT mode...but dunno why it wun connect to the net. the DSL will have a tick but it cannot get the DNS or or it says something like no ATM activity.
my ST585 got 4 eth port. so wat shd i do?? I should connect one of the eth port to the WAN port of my firewall??
in my firewall WAN address, i shd put 58.185.X.X?? then the mask put wat??
and one more question, how shd i utilise the 16IP they gave me?? for wat?? thanks in advance for your help.
I never study so advance networking before......but i am glad u willing to teach.

First of all, this is not advance networking, it's the basics.
It seems u dun even know what the 16 ip addresses are, and how to use them. Thus, since it's a commercial deployment, pls engage consultation service.

Add/Check the modemoptions= value in the configuration.
Search this thread...it's been mentioned the key to having any speedtouch CPEs to be compatible with the ADSL2+ DSLAMs in SG.
Oh, furthermore, most 10mbps service has a line profile approximately 13xxx kbps. It's normal. It used to be higher (>2xxxx kbps) becoz of technical issues/difficulties, which has been resolved and now, scaled back down to 13xxx kbps.
Anyway, FW 6.2.15.5 is not a stable firmware. Try the 6.2.16.3 or else, revert back to 5.4.14.0 which is a very stable firmware.

My ST585v6 totally malfunctioned after flashing it to 5.4.0.14... it's power led turned red with ethernet led flashing, can't access web interface, can't even startup the upgrade wiz now. Is there a way to solve this? I have tried resetting the modem but it doesn't work. Please help

OK, I got it back by doing the following: turning off the modem, turn on after 5 secs then hold down the restart button to set it back to kernel flash mode... the modemoptions you mentioned, i tried using this: 00060301000000000000000000000000 but it's still the same 8mbps result in speedtest, can you specify which to use?

Agree with chaicka that the 6.2.15.5 is not stable. Downloaded and tried using if for a while. Didn't feel comfortable with it and there were some unfixed "bugs" mentioned in the release notes. Tried fooling around and manage to get the "change settings and modem reboot" bug to appear on my 585v6. =:p

Wow...ur line is good.
Ignore the SNR Guideline of 5-7dB. That was valid when the line profiles are all >20mbps, but now, with lower line profiles of around 13+mbps, the SNR should be higher, in the range of 16-20dB.
Hmmm, FW 6.2.16.3, is it stable so far?

My line is good ah? Ok trust you! :) I was worried because previously my 1500K has a lot of intermittent connection problems which SingNet never managed to fix it. The technican came down and said nothing was wrong with my line and modem. Hopefully with the new 585 and full replacement of all my MF, it will be ok. (I havent been surfing much yet on the new 10M plan)
Eh I just updated the firmware on Sunday..so far so good :s13:

singtel should give u the mask for 16 lan ip.
if u cannot see it on the letter or email, its 255.255.255.240 for 16 lan ip.
as for ur wan side, if im not wrong, the mask is 255.255.255.252. pls check again ur letter from singtel. it should state clearly.
older config has mask of 255.255.255.0 with encap protocol of CIP and the singtel ip always ends with .2
firstly, since u applied for 16 lan ip which is routable, u normally shouldnt enable NAT. or else it will not work.
and ya, u realli are just getting only 14 usable IPs.
like what the experts here says, pls engage a professional consultant. it will save u from a lot of headache.

Need comments on this.
Someone cut my line recently (yes, as in, literally took a knife or scissors to cut it), and Singtel patched it back. Since then, I've been having a noisy line and my net connection has been dropping non-stop.
Here's my line stats. Should I be calling and asking for a senior tech to look at the line? I wonder if I can get them to rerun the line. It's not inside my house, but outside my house.

It goes down for about 30 secs and comes back up again... Any suggestions for improving the line ?

From your line stats, it shows a "noisy" line.
You can do 2 things,
a. Check all your house phone point, make sure all connected phones goes through a micro-filter. Make sure the phone lines connected to your modem is in good condition and is securely connected to the modem socket and the micro-filter or wall socket. If in doubt of the cable condition, please change to a new one.
b. If a. dont improve anything, call singtel and tell them your line is noisy and have them arrange people to check and rectify any issue thats outside of your house.

will do that when i get home today =p
They came the last time to check the line and they found trouble with the internal wiring. However, the guys did not check the lines outside the house. Not sure if this helps but i notice that when it rains, i tend to dc more often.
Will try step (a) and update back here

check the line stats again when you used for like 5hours, see if its the same.
take note of your line disconnection or loss of internet connectivities compare to previously see if the situation improve/degraded. If degrade, switch to another port and check again, if the variation from one socket to another is great, it means the source of trouble might really be your wiring.
On the site note, your "Line Attenuation" has very high values, meaning your quite far away from the DSLAM. You can call singnet to say your line is very unstable and is too far away from the DSLAM and request them to rewire to one close to your house.

Hello,
I've read trough this post for a while now and i see so many peoples with their different problems solved here...so I'm trying my luck too
I have for a couple of months a ST585v6 installed but unfortunately i'm encountering some disconnecting problems. When all the computers connected to him are online he starts to due sudden restarts in 5-30mins intervals....this is very very annoying. The ISP support said everything its ok with line and modem but obviously isn't like that. Does anyone have an advice for me regarding this issue? Thank you in advance.

Hi guys I must say this is a great threat.. but cannot find a solution to my problem..
I've just 1-1 exchanged my ST585 for a v6, now whenever i start downloading on bitcomet, the connection to my router DC. and I have to on/off the router, wait a few minutes then can connect to internet again. this is really a problem of the router as my previous router WRT54G won't dc on bitcomet.

Hey guys I am currently using ST585i and my current com with Linksys Wireless G USB Adaptor to connect to my main computer with internet.
However I realise that my upload speed is capped at 4kb/sec...this causes lag for me whenever I play games. Even for frozen throne. Is there anyway i can increase the upload speed of my current com?

we've just got hold of the ST585(i) V6 yesterday for the office as we are upgrading the speed to 2.5mbps for biznet.
so far i've only managed to make it work by flashing the firmware to 5.3.8 that is provided by vrnet.
was wondering whats the newest firmware that would work with the router and also how to go about configuring this. cause i have gone through the pages in this thread, and its making me dizzy but at the same time it has been a really interesting read.
by my conclusion,
1. download the newest firmware and flash the router.
2. download the residential cd, and use it to configure it.
i tried to get hold of the vrnet dudes, but i guess most of them had left the office already, since i only called in at about 5.20pm.
hope someone could help me out here. as i wanna go in on monday prepared for some nice configs. :) thankies!

Anyone knows the default login and password for the ST585?
The Singtel contractor came to install MioTV but was unable to upgrade the firmware because he couldn't figure out the login ID and password. This request for ID and password only comes up when tyring to upgrade the firmware.
Tried Login as Administrator. Password was the serial no. Also tried leaving password blank. But doesn't help.

Actually, it does not really matter. So long as the modem accepts multiple PPPoE connection. But if you really wan to be on safe side, then keep sourcing for a v6 bah.

Actually, it does not really matter. So long as the modem accepts multiple PPPoE connection. But if you really wan to be on safe side, then keep sourcing for a v6 bah.
Actually it does matter. Spent about 2 weeks searching for a solution to upgrade the firmware to IPTV for the ST585 v5. Singnet MioTV contractor also spent 2 hours trying to find a solution. Finally, THos Solution confirmed that it can't be done.
Anyone successfully upgraded the firmware of the ST585 v5?

Argh. i was about to get ST585 from a user until i confirmed with him, it was v5. Which didnt support miotv. :(
I wonder where can i purchase ST585v6 in Sg?
You can purchase from Thos Solution. The sign at their shop stated $128. But better call to confirm first. If you do not need wi-fi, or have your own wi-fi router, you can consider the ST536v6 for $88.

On its own, the St585 v6 does not support IPTV. But the firmware can be updated to support IPTV.
The MioTV contractor would have the firmware. But sometimes they forget to bring the CD when they come down to do the set up. The last time the MioTV contractor came, he had to call his friend to bring it for him.

Hi everyone. Would like to ask if any of you have manage to set up FTP using a NAS like DNS-323 successfully over the ST585? I couldnt get ST585 to connect to the DNS-323 thouigh i've forwarded the ports, DDNS it and use the "always use the same IP address", not static IP. I keep going into the FTP server for the ST585.

got to the point where i can view the channels, but the streaming stops after about 10s.
if i change channel, it streams again but for 10s also.
seems like i got the connection, but what's causing it to stall.

how to change modemoption via editing config file? i can't find any steps listed here.
1) Open a web browser like Internet Explorer or Firefox and type http://192.168.1.254/ to login into SpeedTouch configuration page.
2) Click "SpeedTouch" on the left side of the page.
3) Click "Configuration" link on the main page.
4) At the bottom of the page, click "Save or Restore Configuration" link.
5) At Backup & Restore page, under Backup current configuration, click the "Backup Configuration Now..." button, it will prompt you to save the user.ini file. Save the user.ini file onto Desktop.
6) Open the user.ini file, search and modify the config file's statement: modemoption=00:06:03:01:00:.....
7) Save the updated user.ini file.
8) Go back to the Backup & Restore page, under Restore saved configuration, upload the updated user.ini file and click "Restore Configuration Now..." button.
You are done! Hope this can help you!

i mean software firewall. e.g windows firewall..
can u ping it?
since u still able to use it but cant access config page. most likely problem not from the modem/router.
i'm still suspecting it's your proxy setting. if u can ping it

Check the modemoptions=xxxxxxxxxxxx in the configuration.
Else reset and reconfigure from fresh using the Setup Wizard in the CPE itself.
Not sure what you changed, so hard to advice what to do.

Hi chaicka,
Thanks for the prompt reply.
I went to change the service to EthoA&DHCP with NAT. Me and my itchy fingers :s27:
Hence after that, all DSL connection just seemed to halt. Cant even get to connect to it.

SingNet's connection is not EthoA. It should be PPPoE or PPPoA. PPPoA is better but not necessary works for all line connections.

Yea i know. My old config used to be PPPoA.
Its just that after i configured to EthoA (itchy hands), I cant even detect the DSL line! Any suggestions ?
Anyway, the technician is coming down today. Hope its resolved :s13:

I may be wrong, but u may wanna take a look at how to forward GRE protocol. Take note, those ports u open up are TCP ports, not the GRE protocol.
Sorry to dig up a old reponse but anyone knows how to configure the CLI to allow forwarding GRE protocol.
I have read the CLI guide and tried configuring but still, It seems that there is something that I am not doing right.
Anyone ? Will post up my firmware version when I get back lol
