Using m1 fixed bd service. Lousy!!
Now cannot login to Facebook, ebay etc. can surf though. Try "borrow" neighbor wireless to login, can! So it is m1 problem.
Cannot also access www.ocbc.com.sg at all or even www.sgx.com.
Everybody should write to newspaper to complain about m1 services. Had enough already. I wrote to My Paper to complain, hope they publish.
ps. think SKYPE also not working.
My MSN cannot connect - deafault gateway offline :s27:

Sign up the M1 Sunsurf 1mbps (50gb) plan after I last use M1 BB date 2006 Dec.
I can say speed wise still the same like 2 year ago. Last night (friday) again connect dead! Ping on www.m1.com.sg got time out. Can't be use for surfing during night and peak hours again!
Disappointed man. 2 year liao no improve at all during peak hours at the west part of Singapore where HQ is so damn near us!

hi,
I am currently on 6 months M1 MBB 1 Mbps. Overall, I am ok as I only email, and surf a little while out of office. At home, I am on Singnet.
I am considering the DELL mini 9 promo :
M1 BB promo (http://m1.com.sg/M1/site/M1Corp/menuitem.e2f30a2a1a1860b609b422103f2000a0/?vgnextoid=46b10e841882d110VgnVCM100000695a230aRCRD)
Anyone took any of the plans ? feedback on using M1 MBB on this DELL mini 9? I am considering the 2 Mbps as I will enjoy a further 30% discount on monthly subscription for multiline
thanks

not worth as in ? the value ?
I am currently ending a 6mths contract and the places I frequent are usually ok . Are you referring to the bad M1 MBB connection problem ? if so, like I said, I don't have those problem as I use fix BB when in office and home.
I only use the M1 MBB 2 -3 hrs per day.
Thanks for the advide.

I think what markBM was referring to is the price of $799... if you sign two years contract on the 2MBPS is only $321.. and still can save on the monthly subscription with your multi-line saver... quite gd deal in my opinion ;)

once and for all, the M1 MBB is NOT suitable for online gaming(well at least not for the 2mbps one),
and if you wanna BT while surfing net, only activate 1 download at a time..or put a limit on your download speed in your BT client
otherwise its impossible to surf net, cos BT eat all your download speed
my current speed with BT on
http://www.speedtest.net/result/412889267.png
and i called M1 wanting to change my 2mbps to the 4mpbs or something better.. but they said i have to terminate.. $#$#$@ that means 500+++ penalty fee.. i'll live with this for 1.5years

It's two different services... So you need to terminate your mobile broadband and sign the fixed broadband. But do remember to check if your mobile bband has any outstanding contract left :s7:

I tried the Speedtest several times, the download speed is always below 2M and upload speed never reaches 350Kbs.

for my case.. everytime i let my MBB USB drive "cool down"(unplug, or turn off computer)
it will take 10 to 20 mins for it to reach optimum speed
dont ask me how or why, but thats what i've noticed for my case

I used the ROUTER, not the USB one. Since I signed the 4Mbp/s plan, it means that I need to share it my other laptops. However, it even can not support a single one. Isn't it a piece of s h i t? Can the location limit the signal? The router always appears with GREEN light, which means strongest signal, so where is my 4M?

Finally, M1 agreeed to terminate my contract. Planning to jump to Starhub. For my neighborhood, his 8M of Starhub can most time be reached; for me, 90% of the time, only hundreds KBs can be obtained of my 4M plan, around 1% of the time 1M reached. Really horrible.

just connect mobile bb to ur pc
install xamp on that pc
connect online, do a "ipconfig" see the WAN IP address you get and attempt to connect lor
if fails, den check ur firewall setting.. like should be ok one...
i get my remote desktop and pptp server up and running by default i think on windows server... but den using windows server OS give u advantage..
cause it will redial when the connection is broken kind of things.. :s13:

Yeah, I have their mobile broadband, the speed is pretty decent, but I've seen quite a few people complaining about their FBB, so I'm a bit worried =x.
It's a steal IF it's 100mbps as advertised :p. If it turns out to be half the speed like people are complaining it'd be cheaper for me to get the $88 Starhub plan >_>.

Good responsible M1, willing to terminate contract w/o penalties, for failure to meet expectations.
I had an good experience from ST, who was kind enuff to void my wrong online submission of contract application.
I hear the opposite abt SH, who hangs customer & give excuses to the end, no matter how bad/null their service/connectivity was.

Hi guys, Just signed up for M1 wireless bb in IT show. Regretted as speed sucks. Really cannot make it. Watching grass grows is faster. Want to cancel but they say must pay $321 (modem) plus $214 (plan) early termination. sian. How? regretted!! Should have signed up singtel wireless bb. I've tried my friend's singtel wireless bb, compared to my m1, it's like heaven and hell. So, before you signed the 24 month contract, think hard, really hard...

tell me about it .... i wrote the below strong worded letter to them last nite :
=================
I've recently upgraded to the 7.2Mbps Mobile Broadband Plan from my previous plan which was the 6mths 2Mbps Plan. I also had a change of the modem too.
When I go online now, it seemed to be very slow and does not match up to my expectations at all. I've also done a Speed-Test at http://www.speedtest.net/ and the results I've got were more like speeds for a 1Mbps connection!
I've decided to upgrade to 7.2Mbps due to my good experience with the old plan and speed expectation. Never had I expected to experience a huge drop in the speed upon upgrading to a higher speed! THIS IS MOST UNACCEPTABLE.
Please do get back to me with some solutions or I shall proceed to terminate this contract without any intention to pay any termination charges on grounds of M1 not being able to meet its service obligations.
Thanks.

As you are under a contract, chance of termination of contract could be quite slim... Maybe you can suggest to them to allow downgrade of plan to 1Mbps since you could enjoy better speed and connection at that speed before your upgrade.. Probably the network in your area is congested so you can only achieve around 1mbps...
For myself, I'm on M1 1mbps 50% promo ($7+/mth)... Quite happy with the speed as it had always stayed around the 1mbps range..

All telcos provide mobile broadband for ppl with handphones but bundled usage varies.. Currently ST offers the least amount of data..
M1 mobile broadband service for users on handphones is called SunSurf Mobile..

Yup it is not very worth it cuz regardless of operator, these high speeds are not achievable most of the time. So a suggestion is to sign a maximum of 2mbps which is more practical. 7.2mbps is definitely not advisable =)

damages are naturally punitive in nature.
20 per cable is the price they charge for loss of rented (albeit rental absorbed on the bill display) items so rolling with the punches is recommended.

If it's still under warranty, send it in for warranty claim immediately!
My only grouse with M1BB is that their DNS lookup is damn slow... and because I run my own DNS server for development purposes, I see a long queue of UDP53 in my router... sometimes causes DNS lookup failure etc. Damn annoying.

very much depends on signal and the congestion status (how many ppl are using in ur area)............depends on ur luck already........:s7::s7::s7::s7:

Wah that means my luck must be very good. 2mbps plan always get 10% of the speed. most of the time nv hit more then 1 mbps. Call 1627 until sian still no action taken.
ST BBOM is slow for my area but can surf. M1 BB At my side is not able to load picture. worst then slow.

yes, exactly........so one word test before u commit to long term contract especially mobile bb...
one typical example i can give u...
my starhub maxmobile and singtel bbom is totally CMI at bukit batok area....slow like hell
but at east side now...it's like heaven......:):):):):)

yes, there is only a condition that the telco can do something is if ur area got really a lot of ppl signed up the service, got such demand, then they may improve the network at ur area... if not, u can either live with it or switch...:s7::s7::s7:

How does the M1's speed compare to the SH speed? I'm trying to decide between M1 100mbit and Starhub 100mbit, but I'm not sure how reliable M1 is.
now still using starhub FBB.. 22nd than i change over to M1. i will post both of it up when i have done the test.
starhub = laghub at nite for surfing facebook, youtube and hwz.. dunno wat happen also.
This it not fair.
How come the west just don't get half the people in the east get. Think i must move to east side to test BB mobile liao.
Bt batok really cannot make it. Even coffeeshop food also.

u are at BB? good luck to u... i had been using both starhub and singtel mobile bb there before.. both CMI there.... even network signal there are not good at all... always below 90% strength... mostly 7x-8x% only....
speed is super pathetic.... need to reconnect and connect tons of time in order to use... becos once connected, can surf few minutes, after that no traffic flows at all.. must discon and recon again.. u can repeat the same old steps tons of time per day....
called up to complain tons of time also no use.. managed to get 2-3 times waiver for singtel at that time....
i heard that part of the reason is mindef etc are around that area.... so the telco signal cannot be too strong, else will cause interference or something...
maybe this is the reason why the mobile bb speed is so terrible at bb....
My friend under M1 1mbps got his mobile broadband monthly subscription waived for 2 months when he complained of the slowness in his area...
Have already call up M1 on slow surfing issue. Was told they will get their engineer to look into this reported area. But still no news from them yet.

my advice to u is to demand for waiver until the prob is resolved... if cannot resolve even after months, u should demand to terminate contract without penalties....:s22::s22::s22::s22:

Yup their engineers really do testing on the ground de... So it'll take at least about a wk for them to get back to you. My friend waited patiently for them to get back about 5 days later.
Hmm probably your hse area has too many M1 mobile broadband users so it gets chocked often. For myself, I can surf most of the time even during evening peak periods but yet surrounded by many HDBs and condos.. Another reason could be cuz my hse area alot of base stations. Tested it using my hp (on M1 too) and signal keep switching among various base stations.. Lol :s13:

My situation is slightly similar to yours.. Tried for 3 months in 2008 damn slow then cancelled contract... Heard comments from various friends using it praising then sign up the 50% promo at IT Show... Never regretted signing up.. Yup you need a minimum of 3 lines and the discount structure is as follows:
3 lines: 25% discount
4 lines: 30% discount
>=5 lines: 35%

Multi-line saver is only applicable for a minimum of 3 lines.
yah i have 4 lines le this will be my 5th line :P
so for my lines it will be 35%
then mobile bb of 2mbps for 2 yrs will be 30%+35% or 65% depending on how they calculate discount
YorYor
25-04-2009, 02:22 PM
It's compounded. So it's 0.7*0.65 = 0.455. So you'll pay 45.5% of the listed price.

I don't mind if it's slow like 300kbps, but the problem is the stability of the connection.
When you have 10second ping replies... nothing can be done. DNS lookups would time out, and SSH connections are virtually useless.

Yup I always feel that 2Mbps is the highest mobile bband speed to sign up for... But it'll be interesting to see what the speeds will become when the networks are fully upgraded to 21Mbps liao.. Maybe even 2Mbps will be phased out :s13:

Hope M1 upgrade their servers soon too. Now it seems the communications network is actually performing relatively well, but the servers are affecting the overall experience.
Took me 30 seconds to resolve mediafire, then another 30 seconds to complete loading of the site before I could download from mediafire today... but the download was fairly consistent in bursting 100KB every 2 seconds (was monitoring the interface every 0.5seconds).
And everytime after a while, it takes like 7 or 8 pings to the DNS servers before I get a reply.

Yeah lo it's quite interesting that sometimes when loading pages will be slightly slow but yet the downloading of files is still bursting at 110kb/s.. Is this some technological issue?
M1 is keeping themselves busy upgrading their mobile network to accomodate 21Mbps and to build the backhaul infrastructure to save $20million payable to ST every yr.. According to their projected schedule, should be complete by yr end lo..

Hope it'll be all good and steady soon enough.
Mobile broadband is here to stay, and their investment now will only serve to improve their reputation (after a very disastrous early start).
If they're riding on ST, then I wouldn't be surprised if their traffic is given lower priority...

Nope they are almost complete in building their backhaul transmission network, which is basically the underground cables currently owned by ST. So M1 will now have their own underground cables which will be completed by dis yr end lo.. They are almost entirely on their own liao for data and voice transmission...

I was an early adopter for M1 Broadband when it first came out, with an initial subscription plan for 3.6Mbps bandwidth service.
Everything was great back then. Now it has dropped to 2Mbps in relativity to the price plan that I have paid for all the while - best yet, the connectivity is flaky and terrible. Even in Suntec when I need to hook up for that emergency meeting, it sure sucked so bad that I had to resort to Wireless@SG.
Now I am not too sure if I would want to stay with M1 after utilizing their services for 3 years now.

Anyone tried the 7.2mbps mobile bb M1? Does it capable for gaming purpose?
Hmm mobile BB has a much higher latency compared to fixed BB.. So it is not really advisable to use mobile BB for intense gaming..
I've tried twice playing on Playstation network using M1 mobile BB and somehow it could work smoothly.. However, not sure if it can be sustained all the time..
An advice would be that for any sign up of mobile BB, 1-2 Mbps would be sufficient liao, even for gaming. Cuz gaming relies more on low latency.. And latency is about the same whether it's 1Mbps or 7.2Mbps lo..

I'm using M1 1mbps bbom vas for abt a month. Using my hp as a modem connected to my lappy. My connection is TERRIBLE. I have never got a HSPDA 3.5G signal ever since i apply for this bbom. Loading page abit slow, sometimes can't even load. It's like 56k more then 1mbps. Initially i thought maybe this plan is cheap, so don't expect much of it. Till 1 day, i tried with my friend's singtel 1mbps bbom vas, using my hp as a modem. Surprisingly, i got a HSPDA 3.5G signal & surfing net was relatively faster compared to my current m1. Feel puzzled, same specs but different performance, i call up m1 to check, after transfering me here & there, they gave me a very dissppointing answer. They said they will investigate, which they have not get back to me yet. Lucky i didn't sign 2 year for the bbom. So i'm not sure do i want to switching over to singtel, as i'm with m1 for so many years. Do any bros encounter same connection problem as me? Do give me some feedback & suggestion. Thanks.
