In Shenzhen, set aside one full day to visit 锦绣中华,世界之窗。These are theme parks housing large cast shows in the evenings, and also minority villages where the lifestyles of various Chinese minority groups are showcased. There is also a large amusement park in the vicinity- 欢乐谷. The above places are now accessible by the MRT system. In Guangzhou, try the excellent Cantonese food at 陶陶居. Most taxi drivers would know. It is by the walking street.

Across the border of HK, Lowu @ Lowu Commercial City. LOts of stuffs here, from Clothing to Electronics. Lots of copy. Pretty safe, but again, just be careful and not follow anyone who claim to sell you good and cheap stuffs. Always bargains. My experience is that you should end up paying one third to one half of the asking prices. Try to be positive. Don't be rushed into the next price level. Take your time and be confident. If you can't agree on a price, just thank them and walk away. Being positive until the end allows both parties to save face and come back with a lower or higher price. Always good to go to other shop to check on the price too.
Here's the other 2 places to recommend
North Huaqiang Shopping Street - It gathers 47 plazas, over 3,400 stores and over 20 large specialized markets, which sell electronics and telecommunications equipment, clothes, household electrical appliances. Here you can find the largest markets in the city selling electronic accessories. household electrical appliances, clocks and watches.
The Wanshang, Wanjia, Shundian and Xindahao commercial and cultural squares are linked with each other, displaying the commercial and cultural flavor of a modem city.
Dongmen Pedestrian Shopping Street -Known as the Dongmen Old Street, it was formed in the Kangxi reign period of the Qing Dynasty. In the past 100 years, it has been the busiest Street in Shenzhen. As a traditional shopping area, Dongmen isa banner of Shenzhen commerce, with an area of 130,000 sq m. Its business area comes to 400,000 sq m. Over 300 shops in various sizes stand on the Street like a forest, selling articles of everyday use, various kinds of domestic and foreign famous-brand clothes, leather products, antiques, calligraphy, paintings, cultural relics, pottery and porcelain, the four treasures for the study, and rare handicrafts.

Just answering tanlccc question on Shenzhen. Just brought my wife +kid to Shenzhen Luowu for a day trip at the Luowu commerical bldg. OK, as long as you be careful and look out for ppl coming close to you. Depending on your needs and your expectation, I would say that Shenzhen can be interesting. Check out the new METRO and it basically lead you to most of the places of interests.

you can take the mrt train to windows of the world.all the places in shen zhen r accessible by mrt train.
better to have some loose change (RMB) to take the taxi at shenzhen. There are lotsa fake notes . if you give a big note , the drivers might give u back a stack of fake notes.

Things have improved somewhat. Though there are still pickpockets, there are now more gong ans posted around high traffic areas. U just have to be more careful with yr belongings. Dress simple, avoid expensive jewellery and watch yr mobile and wallet/hand bag.

Hi I think u r referring to Luohu Commerial Town. It is another big shopping centre/hotel/bus station just after the customs.
For Dong Meng Street Market , I think u r referring the one at Dong Meng Zhong Lu there which is near Lao Jie station (old street), 2 stations from Luohu.
Hope this help

Hi I have a map that show ur hotel is on the right (NE) of luohu station. There is a small rd that lead to main rd, Yanhe lu. I guess @500m.
For cab, u have to walk out of the station/shopping/bus terminal. Quite messy & crowded place. For me I enter from Lok Ma Chau, faster, easier but more ex. so take care
Hope this help.

Hi well I bought the map during my last transit thru SZ to Hainan and not all maps are accurate especially Hainan.
Don't worry, China is like that ie ren san ren hai especially the rail or bus station. Just take the usual precaution in crowed places. Cab is easy to get. There r hotel at the station/hub. Can ask for their help and direction.
Lok Mah Chau is 24 hr customs on the left of Luo Hu, normally for lorry transport.

Hi
I have watched from HK show introducing water park, safari & crocodile park and paradise park which have those thrilling roller coaster rides seen in the US.
The parks are in Panyu which is in the south of Guangzhou.
Also someone in the VT forum mentioned about Sea World and Safari Park in Shenzhen.
Does anyone know about these parks?

Lo Wu is far from Window of the world. Its in nanshan district, take cab about 30mins can reach depending on traffic.
Lao Jie is dongmen, which is closer to Lo Wu, 10mins cab or less shld get u there from Lo Wu as both are in same district.

Guys, would appreciate some advice here. I'm planning a trip to shenzhen via hk sometime this month. The main purpose of the trip is to get some tailored business clothes in shenzhen, anyone has advice on where to go, price, waiting time, quality, what I should look out for? I've read of tailors in Lowu Commercial City but no specific recommendations.
I'll be landing in hk and going straight into shenzhen, what will be the best mode of transportation from hk international airport? cost wise?
I would prefer to stay somewhere close to the tailors and probably near the train station or jetty as I will be returning to hk thereafter. Any recommendations on hotels (budget around 50 sgd/night), preferably somewhere safe and tourist friendly.
I'm also rather confused about the different 'districts' - Futien, Lowu and anymore? Which is nearest to hk?
Should be flying jetstar, round trip about 600 sgd including tax, are there better deals?
Cheers!

Hi everyone,
I saw this MTR/KCR map including those stations in Shenzhen.
http://www.johomaps.com/as/hongkong/hkmetro.html
Just to check, when I arrived at LuoHu...Then there will be a customs to cross to Shenzhen?? Do I need to fill in anything?
Also, when I am in Shenzhen already, can I still use the Octopus card just like in HK? Because I thought of going by MTR as shown in the map to "ShijieZhiChuang".
Also, I also want to go to Macau...I will be taking by ferry from the Kowloon side at Tsim Sha Tsui there.
When I arrive, I also need to fill in some form right? Also once I arrive at Macau, will I be able to see those Senoko Square, fisherman Wharf..Sands Casino etc?? How should I go there? Is there any shopping areas nearby upon arrival by ferry.
Will it be a different alighting ferry terminal at Macau if I boarded from Kowloon or HK island ferry terminal?
Pls advise.
Thanks!!!

When you arrive at Luohu, you have to get off the MTR and clear both sets of customs before you can enter Shenzhen, China. You need to fill in an arrival form at the Chinese side.
The Octopus card can only be used in HK. The MRT system in Shenzhen is seperate from that of HK. The HK MTR does not get you anywhere within Shenzhen. You have to transfer to the Shenzhen system after you clear Chinese customs. That system does not use the same track or fare system.
Macau is another administrative zone, so again you have to fill an arrival form at the ferry terminal. The HK-Macau Ferry Terminal is within walking distance to the Fisherman Wharf. It is rather quiet though. As long as your destination is near to or exactly a casino, there are free buses provided by the casino to take you from the ferry terminal to your destination. The area near the ferry terminal is now rather deserted. Whichever terminal you board the ferry from HK, it is the same ferry terminal you arrive at.

Hi beanstalk6,
Thanks alot for your reply!
I just research somemore, and I realise there are two ferry terminal.
One is the Macau ferry terminal, and another one is Taipa ferry terminal..hmm...? I guess the terminal I will arrive will be Macau ferry terminal right? But what about taipa?
Also is it easy to go to Zhuhai from Macau? Also how to go to Zhuhai?
I saw from website that if I want to go to Zhuhai, I can take ferry from China ferry terminal from HK to Zhuhai JiuZhou Pier...but if I arrive in Macau first then go to Zhuhai?
Which will be more accessible? Pls advise me...thanks alot!!

The Taipa terminal is not fully operational yet, and it serves mainly the airport and The Venetian.

If you are already in Macau, than use the land crossing.
There are free buses provided by the casino to travel between the casino and the border (Gong Bei). U need to fill in the clearance form (white card). Not sure of shopping area as mine is juts a day trip so I only spent my time at the under ground shopping area which is just after the border crossing and a mall near by to visit the super market.
