Hi Inix,

I understand you mentioned that there is a promotion going around for Air France, how much is it and where to book. can share. :)
Hi speedtest99, the promotion just ended. The cheapest tix that I just searched couple of days back for my wife and her sis is Emirates. You can see www.emirates.com. It will cost under $1.5K for 1 passenger. If you add another $100, I would believe you can visit Dubai also...

I didn't go in, but its pretty expensive. If I'm not wrong, its around S$100

3 cities for 12days, Manchester is a must as i will be planning to watch a EPL match at Old trafford.
The price of under $1.5K includes taxes. Personally, I would feel that 12 days is a little 2 short for the trip. If you go what you're going, you will end up doing touch and go trips.

Also, I note that you didn't add London in. I would recommend that you pay London a visit also as London is the European Capital of Budget Flights so its ridiculously easy fly around from London.

Lastly, do note that the French Rail workers are now in a massive open-ended strike. No idea when is it ever gonna end so it might affect your planning...

Wah! The Shi Lin is so touristy now! Last time when I went there as a kid in the early 80s, it was still very natural even with the carved calligraphy on the rocks. The grass was naturally wild and the few staff there still wore Maoist suits. I remembered that the public toilet there was a single outhouse with a bucket crawling with maggots :s31: Our guide had a 70s perm and flare pants :D Now the place looks more like Botanic Gardens :o
Yes, Shi Lin is now very touristy, and expensive. In fact, I find the entire Chinese tourism thing a blurdy con job. I can't believe I paid more to get into this damn stone forest then the Lourve Musee. Worse, they don't accept blurdy credit cards! Online UnionPay! ARGH.

Europe is quite diverse. It hardly (if ever), snows in London & Rome, but it does snow once in a while in Paris. It depends on where you're going. Never been to Milan so I'm not so sure, but I'm sure you can find some info there.

since barcelona can do cheap shopping, i guess i have to consider it too.

Yes, the clothes at Leftis (zara) and Mango is ridiculously cheap. A pair of shades at Mango set me back by 2 Euros. And it came with a box.. Sheesh. As for Gondolas, no. I didn't try it. Even at student prices (I had my UniSIM Cards with me), its either 80 Euros a couple / 80 Euros per person. Can't really remember. But its very romantic though...

nice! where is this place?that's the Detian Waterfall - largest in Asia and second largest transnational waterfall in the world. It's in Guangxi, near the china/vietnam border. The waterfall actually connects to another waterfall in Vietnam.

things are generally expensive there? :s11: it is my first trip there and i've always heard from my friends that there are many cheap bargains..

Yap. Shanghai's shopping isn't really cheap, and being china, there is always worries that its fake. Don't be envious about my traveling. I didn't start to take my first flight until I was 25 and I'm now only 27.

U'll get your chance. Trust me when I say that when you fly the way I do for work, I don't like flying.. except for leisure.. hahah

Lake Bled in Slovenia is the most beautiful of all. We visited Predjema Castle and Postojna Caves. Some people find the caves interesting , but after an hour of walk inside it does get boring as everything's the same. Ljubljana is the city with some history - I would advise to go during Spring or Autumn, Winter maybe too cold to enjoy. Slovenia uses Euros, chocolates are much cheaper than other European countries ;)

Shanghai is cheaper than Singapore. Their expensive places (and there are many) are 80% of comparative Singapore prices at best. Eg, drinks at Cloud 9 Lounge at the top of Jinmao Tower are about 100+ Yuan (S$1 = 5 Yuan) which is cheaper than in Singapore. I didn't have to factor in GST as well. An ala carte dinner table at a good class Chinese restaurant on the Pudong side with a private room overlooking the Bund requires a minimum 800 Yuan bill, cheap for a good quality Chinese dinner for 6 pax with such a great view. A martini at a typical pub like Ven-ICE at Xintiandi cost me 60 Yuan when a similar drink at say Clarke Quay will be closer to S$20++

The 430kph speed is only operational during office hours due to the noise factor within the city. This is a very recommended ride even for expat commuters unless you have huge luggage loads. Can always continue your journey from the Longyang station to your eventual destination by cab. Those with air tickets/e-tickets can also get 20% discount by showing them at the ticket office.

i paid about USD1.3k for 4 nights there in the resort + admission + dinning for 2 person.

Dining is about USD 38 per pax per day, include 1 "food court" meal and 1 full service meal. all meal include 1 entree, 1 desert and 1 drink. typically we eat more than the value paid.

i stayed in the All-star music resort which cost about USD79 per night. not bad. they provide transport directly to the various parks and resort guest get to enjoy the extra hours the park stays open.

This trip covers Osaka, Kobe, Kyoto, Tokyo. I spend total $3500 for 12 days. (includes food, hotel, air-ticket, train, japan product, everything)
