What dslr do you have and why?

Whats your current dslr, and what made you choose it over xxxx? I'm also planning on purchasing my first dslr, but im very confused one what brand/model I should get. I'm leaning towards a Canon 30d vs. a Nikon d80, and hopefully with this thread I can narrow down my decision.

Yes once again, only canon and nikon.

seriously a K100D. Why? Its inexpensive, has shake reduction, is compatible with ALL previous Pentax and other K-mount or M-42 screw mount (with adaptor) lenses. Its 6MP, but seriously, that's all you need for most purposes.
My advice, check ALL your options. Go down to the shops and play around with the cameras.
And btw, the Pentax equivalent of those two would probably be the K10d.

You can also look at the Olympus line of DSLRs with their live view and in body anti-shake as well. Best if you can acutally try out all the bodies you are interested in and see which ones you like best in terms or ergonomics and overall user friendliness. Also remember that you are not just buying a body but an entire system of lenses, accessories and other things.

My current dslr for the past 1yr+ is a pentax *ist DL.. cos it's affordable and it fits my needs.. :D
