Grassland still the best..

Actually, the buses depend on the holidays..

there's once i went malaysia during National Day.. my boyfriend and I use grassland while my parents use Transtar...

I managed to reach Malaysia in the same bus throughout the whole trip.. Whereas, my parents change their bus 2 times.. Once at the JB custom, another time at Midway resting..

but when it is non holiday, my parents uses transter with no issues...

Indeed most agency need transfer at custom, ie: five star, konsortium n transtar... Thk 707 always need transfer?

Sometime, e agencies even use others / unknown coach. Travel in an unknown coach to redang when w konsortium previously.

five star coach quite new n must say they r quite fast. E driver overtake all e way, takin 3 odd hr when travellin up KL previousli.

i think with recent crack down of coach driver... they should be travel slower...

always take grassland to ipoh.. good spacious and comfortable... but they are expensive... there is also 88.

Take KTMB train lah. :s22:

Got to do underhand trick. Get ticket to board at JB station which is now conveniently beside the CIQ.

23:30 leave JB, reach KL Sentral 06:40.

Khoon all the way in their sleeper car.

Did this when I went for KL business trip. Coworkers surprised I opted for KTMB. Office was in Serdang, so took the overnight premier sleeper cabin. 2 beds, shower and basin with hot water + WC. MYR131 only. Took 950 from Woodlands, got off at the CIQ and next thing I'm in the station waiting for the train to arrive from SG.

Got on the train at 23:10. Left 23:30. They served "night snack" of water and bee hoon goreng at 00:00. I eat then khoon. The train attendant woke me at 05:45 to serve me kopi and muffin. I ate then train arrived at KL Sentral 06:40.

I got off, walked over to the KTMB Kommuter and boarded the 7:10 train towards Seremban for Serdang. Reached Serdang 07:30 and walked to office.

OK, aircon of the cabin must turn to max cool for best effect. Still the KTM Kommuter train had colder aircon than the intercity sleeper.

Apart from that, I had a lot more space than a bus and can really stretch out my legs.

Don't take my word for it. Some people cannot take train no matter how hard they try. You got to check it out first to see if it suits you. However, this is a good option if you want to travel all the way to not just KL but Bangkok cheaply.

The train ride from Singapore, or in this case JB, to Bkk, the timing doesn't connect. Hence, the entire journey takes about 2 days to complete. Depending on the cabin classes, the entire trip should probably cost around S$200 or less. Do note that Bkk train is notorious for delays.

No I have never taken this route before. But more info is available at Seat61 (http://www.seat61.com/Thailand.htm). Stick to budget airline if you can secure any seats under S$200.

The rest not interested, cause cannot book online.

The train will passby Serdang when travelling from JB to KL, are you allowed to get off at Serdang?

But since you mentioned you reached KL Sentral at 640am, then the time would be quite early to get down at Serdang.:s13:

Yes the train will pass Serdang too early. So just stick around in the cabin until KL Sentral. Come out take KTM Komuter to Serdang. Its a back track but I do get sleep before reaching the office at 07:30.

Yes it does not connect. I got the idea to go to KL by Seat 61 website.

In fact to get to BKK, you need to book from the KTMB counter and not online. Online cannot because it needs a change of 3 trains to get there so you are right saying it might take 2 days if you like to take the sleeper car all the way.

Only the KTMB counter can coordinate for you and like Seat 61 says, KTMB counter only accepts Amex or Diners. Nothing else. Not even Visa.

So change of 3 trains means, SG/JB to KL one leg. KL to Butterworth is another. Finally Butterworth to BKK is the Thai International express where the train is the Thai train and not KTMB.

So it will take 3 nights if you take night sleeper all the way. 1st night with SG/JB to KL. 2nd night from KL to Butterworth and then 3rd night from Butterworth to BKK.

If you want speed, they will KTMB will coordinate and so that you will take the next train after you alight from the other taking 2 nights.

Any body try 1st coach? not a luxury one, but cheaper than most and kids on ~50% discount. Been with them due to cost, I won't say its very fantastic as even my colleague because it didn't stop at those usual stops for toilet break.

single trip $30 return $55
Kids $15, return $28 ....something like that.
Depart as carpark entry of Novea Sqaure facing THS hospital
arrival, Bangsar LRT
waiting lounge at office both in SG and KL, simple snack and bottle of drinking water on board.
On way back to SG, one toilet stop selling local products. Not too expensive to me
NO surcharges through out the year. I usually go during early Dec.

Of course, no online, but you can call to reserve and need to pay up I think 1 week before departure. Office at Novena Square Level 3 connection to Velocity.

I prefer the lcoation as its easier to get taxi and not crowded like Golden mile where so many buses coming in and out ... just like Pudu in KL... so messy to me.. especially when I have kids around with me

Website just started selling return tix from KL-SIN online yesterday. Please re-check.

I took the 12pm bus at Berjaya Times Square yesterday and reached Golden Mile around 5pm.

Pleasant and Fast journey. Driver was friendly and helped in assisting ppl to load luggage onto the coach.

The coach was new and keep in a good/clean condition.

Yeah I also found that starmart has started selling return online recently (www.busonlineticket.com). Used to be selling one way SIN-KL online only.

I took the 230pm bus at Berjaya Times Square on sunday and reached Golden Mile around 730pm. Driver was helpful, I saw him helped the older passanger to alight the bus easier by putting a stool next to the bus door staircase (as the stair is quite high)

There are many buses recently traveling from Singapore to Malaysia, like Meridian Holidays express (SG-KL), Golden coach (formely known as Alisan express)..

I booked a seat for Friday night to KL through easibook on Friday afternoon. There is an additional service charge of $1.50 ($31.50 in all). The seat was for a Transtar. Somehow the bus number was screwed up and I got on a bus to Genting, although I checked repeatedly with the service personnel before I set off. Finally they had to drop me specially at Times Square, because the bus to KL was really full.
For my return trip yesterday, I almost had no tickets. Aeroliner at all of its 5 terminals ran out of tickets. So did Airebus from Mid-valley. Fortunately there was still Nice, which sets off from Sentral. The ticket was expensive at RM88. Of course I could have gone on to try Transtar, Grassland and all those choices at Puduraya, but they were right in KL. Transtar is definitely worthwhile. It was right down to the little things that put my vote with Transtar between the 2. Nice served drinks and even a meal, but there was no way to secure the curtain, the TV kept showing self-advertisements between its 2 movies, and there was no way to alight along the route to Orchid Inn.
