NO. Theyare expensive. Just the case different. Inside is standard harddisk from Hatichi, Seagate or sometime Samsung.

WRONG. Inside contains Fujitsu harddisk and I can say ranger hard disk is good! Been using for a year plus and it works very well!
eSATA is a port that allows faster transfer speed (1.5Gig/s , 3.0Gig/s) compared to usb 2.0 (480mb/s). Not all computers have the port yet but if ur getting one for future proof then go ahead.

No. They are just the common harddisk available in the market plus a different casing with much higher price.

I just bought their 2.5" 320g SATA.
A helpful staff at 1 Challenger highly recommend it to me. Say only Ranger is confirm SATA and advantage is the aluminium casing which is better for heat transfer. Heard another customer ask another staff why Ranger so ex compared to the rest and the other staff reply that it's like comparing sports car to normal car.
Today, I went to another Challenger, a staff told me better not get Ranger and WD. According to him, they usually cannot last more than a year.
Now I am confused. I paid more than a $100 more to get a Ranger 320g as compared to the same capacity of other brands.
I know which 3.5" is good. I have tested 2 Seagate, 2 Maxtor. Encountered dead harddisk on both. Now, I am using 3 Buffalo. They comes with aluminium side casing and an on off switch which is quite useful.
But when it comes to 2.5", I don't know. Which one do you guys recommend? I am not concern about aesthetics, only durability and speed.

it's not the casing that matters, but the hdd inside.
WD is good imho.

You are correct. I am not concern about aesthetics, only durability and speed.
The first salesman told me Ranger use a better HDD and it's confirmed SATA.
I find it amusing when i read in other threads where people are more concerned about the colors.

IMOH, western D definetely work well for MOST of us....
I dont understand why the promoter will say western D no good. You should do some research, I'll recommend either western D or seagate.

The hdd inside my Ranger SATA is Fujitsu.
So far so good. It's quiet and fast. Even better than my external Buffalo 500g and 320g.
I will not buy another Seagate or Maxtor.

there's a brand called sarotec right?
quite well build.
Ranger's casing are the same as those you find outside, only they print their name on it.
