Hi guys, helping my dad to post this thread.
My dad currently want to change from his Toyota Wish to Toyota Estima.
But the problem is, we like what we saw in Estima Aeras, but main problem is that my dad wants the Aeras comes with center row of seats which is so called 8 seater.
We went to a few PIs and they do not have any Aeras with 8 seater, any other good PIs that has got Aeras 8seater ?

think u have to call more PI to check. There are some many PI. Did u try Richburg(although I think price is at high side)?

Richburg is decent, as long as you're willing to pay the slight premium.
I'd avoid the 2.4L variant with the CVT transmission, its performance is abysmal.

CVT save petrol mah. Think performance quite ok lar.
I remembered Richburg, the only PI, can send their cars to Borneo Motors for servicing.

I've driven both the 3.5 6AT as well as the 2.4 CVT up north to Sepang, all I can say is the CVT was a pain.

Overtaking was a pain as the downshifts are retarded resulting in frustration and unneccessary exposure to the traffic on the overtaking lane.

Really that serious ?
How's the performace compared to Wish Pre-FL ?

Estima and Wish are in totally different leagues.
Can't compare apples and oranges.
Estima in all sense of the word is superior to the Wish in MPV terms, better comfort (cabin and ride NVH is good), better performance (2.4 is rather thrifty but with sufficient power for urban use), better in-cabin amenities (seats are more comfortable, superb leg room, flexible interior configuration), better access design (automated sliding doors and low platform height is a bonus).

The key is the capacity not the transmission. A 3.5l generated more torque/Hp than a 2.4l.

xiaoman i think you should do a google about auto gearbox.. Cvt was Fuel saving, but flap said that the gears was retarded, that will not bother till the capacity of the engine..

But converse, 1st thing is ur father like it.. But for sg 2.4 is enuff liao unless he is going m'sia every week.. 3.5cc is a waste of money, be it road tax, fuel etc.

retarded? CVT don't have a set of gears. I think u have to read more on CVT and its advantages. Disadvantage of course is its inability to handle high torque due to its design limitation. Estima with its over 2 tonnes weight, even 2.4l manual transmission, u can't expect much from it.

Hmm, i really dont know much about cvt, but u should ask flap for more info as he did test drive long distance with estima b4..

There's a reason why the 3.5 was mated to the conventional automatic transmission, the torque.
CVT is as its abbreviation suggests, continuously variable, the slippage and restricted rate of change in the ratios results in poor response.
The previous model saw the 2.4 with a conventional automatic transmission and I can safely say its more assuring compared to the current CVT when you need to floor it.

None.
If you're interested in getting your Estima all jazzed up, I suggest you visit, William @ Naga Motor, 162 Yio Chu Kang Road.
He used to have the most outrageous Estima Aeras locally, a multiple custom show winner.
Here's the link (http://www.duke.com.sg/ours.html) to his previous (2.4 Aeras) and current (3.5 V6 Aeras).

If you get the dealer to give HID, he might pop in an aftermarket kit, and that's illegal too.

Ok, abit of thread digging here.
So after almost one month, my dad and the dealer finally settle down on buying, cos past few wks was either downpayment not enough, or dad went overseas or SE on leave...
I guess now is awaiting the bank's call to verify the loan.

Today went to S**auto to look at Aeras CNG and was quoted
$96.8 k (same for both 7 or 8 seater) . Is this price reasonable? The terms and conditions require at 70% loan for 7 years. I was also advised that if I want to fully cash out, then jus need to pay another 3210, not too sure if this is a good deal though? Read from SPEC that some of the member had some argument with S**Auto. Btw, the lead time is 4 months includin 2 months wait for CNG conversion.
If u guys have better lobang do tell me about it, I am quite sick of my Wish as I have driven both FL and NFL for the last 4 years. ;)

I think you will have a far greater chance of getting an answer at SPEC. And iirc, the arguement is not with Sun Auto, it's another dealer.
