need a plumber to clear a choked kitchen urgently....preferably honest and reliable.
the last one i used costed me a whopping $200!
And he didn't have to use anything except some cable. So he is more expensive per minute than a consultation with my specialist doctor (with air-conditioned office and medical school experience)!!??
thanks!
ps. i would need an honest electrician too :0

but you can't get your specialist doctor to clear the choke, right?? :s13:
Alternatively, u can buy the same tools from the neighbourhood hardware shop and DIY

using the metal thingly or drain powder itself is not efficent to clear the kitchen chokage as it is normally cause by the deposit of fats from our cooking that harden.
get one stick like bamboo poles, insert into the drainage and knock it a few time to break the deposit. Then bend a steel spoon to an elbow shape and fit it onto the bamboo stick and scoop up the deposit.
the blockage is at the elbow of the sanitary pipe, so try to feel the hole.
try it, see whether it works for you

try getting a doc that goes to your house and see how much he charge you.

For that kind of money, i think my specialist doctor can consider a change of career...not to mention me!
But you are quite right, while i cannot hope to DIY surgery, i can certainly learn to DIY simple chokes :)

you have a point.
But the doctor has the medical council to regulate him too.....P
what we need is some transparency and published information on fees for comparison.
edit :
actually i subsequently found such a site (http://www.plumbing.org.sg/home_svcs.htm)

I had called one plumber who was listed in Strait Times classified. Turned out to be a real swindler. Quoted some price on phone(100-150$) and after doing the flush repair work quoted much more. 350$$$
So be very carefull and make sure you confirm the price before he visits your home.

I think no one ever gets their repairs done at the "advertised price"....there is always something (usually a lot) extra :0

I have used the company "Hotpoint" found under the ntuc.income/homeservices website, matter of fact I have used them on several occasions. I think they are not cheap but at least the jobs they did clearly did not reguire a re-call and also that they use genuine parts ie a made in Italy mixer will indeed be a made in Italy mixer - those in the ST classified will give you a made in China mixer but declare to you as Italian made !
