From comingsoon.net:

Derek Mears, who recently starred in The Hills Have Eyes 2 and has done stunts for the "Pirates of the Caribbean" films and the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, will reportedly play Jason Voorhees in New Line Cinema and Platinum Dunes' new Friday the 13th movie.

Ken Kirzinger last suited up and strapped on the Voorhees hockey mask in Freddy vs. Jason.

To be directed by Marcus Nispel from a script by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, the film, starring Jared Padalecki ("Supernatural"), is scheduled for a release on February 13, 2009.

No lah not Freddy, Friday the 13th is the one where the maniac crawl out of the TV one, actually in retrospect, Friday the 13th is the one that started all the stop-motion moving ghost with the door creaking sound. In fact, the ring idea is copied from this movie, the well where the maniac drowns, the crawling out of the tv, except that one is female one is a Transvetite (the maniac).

I also remembers fondly that a certain director, think is Steven mentions that his movie Poltergeist is actually inspired by this movie, he personally invited Mr Dennis Rodman whom star as the maniac to be the poltergeist and then invited his father, Mr Dennis Hopper and his director mother, Mrs Tobe Hopper to direct the movie Poltergeist. Just look at the settings, the young screaming girl, the rural area, the running around screaming of the parents, all is a nod back to the movie that started it all, Friday The 13th.

I think the Thai Movie, "TRANSVETITE PLAY VOLLEYBALL" copies from this movie too, so is ONG BAK The Thai Warrior.

From moviehole.net:

Amanda Righetti, who you'll remember as Kirsten's foxy younger sister on TVs "The OC", is the female lead in the new "Friday the 13th" remake.

From bloody-disgusting.com:

Bloody-Disgusting has learned exclusively that 21-year-old Danielle Panabaker (Mr. Brooks, Sky High), Aaron Yoo (Disturbia, 21) and Travis Van Winkle (Transformers, Left in Darkness, Asylum) - all pictured inside - are the latest camp counselors to enroll at Camp Crystal Lake. They will join Jared Padalecki, Derek Mears and Amanda Righetti in Platinum Dunes' remake of Friday the 13th, which arrives in theaters Friday, February 13, 2009. The remake will focus on Jason Voorhees (Mears) -- who will wear the mask and kill -- and keep the famous setting of Crystal Lake. The film arrives from New Line Cinema, Paramount Pictures and MTV Films. The FRIDAY THE 13th franchise has grossed more than $300 million in the US alone.

From movieweb.com:

Danielle Panabaker has been cast as the female lead in the new Untitled Friday the 13th Origin Film, which Marcus Nispel is directing for Platinum Dunes. The horror flick is a negative pickup for New Line, according to The Hollywood Repoter.

Also joining the cast like lambs to the slaughter are Jonathan Sadowski, Travis van Winkle and Aaron Yoo.

The project, an update of the popular horror series featuring the goalie mask-wielding killer Jason, already features Jared Padalecki in the cast.

Panabaker is playing the adventurous, athletic girlfriend of van Winkle, who plays a rich alpha male type that gathers everyone together.

Yoo's character, named Chumbler, is a guy who's a little quirky and has a tendency to wear his attraction to pretty girls on his sleeve. Sadowski plays a techie who knows the horrific history of Camp Crystal Lake.

Synopsis from movieweb.com:

Searching for his missing sister, Clay heads up to the eerie woods of legendary Crystal Lake where he stumbles on the creaky remains of rotting old cabins that lie in wait behind moss-covered trees. And that's not the only thing hiding under the brush. Against the advice of police and cautions from the locals, Clay pursues what few leads he has with the help of a young woman he meets among a group of college kids up for an all-thrills weekend. But they are about to find much more than they bargained for. Little do they know, they've entered the domain of one of the most terrifying specters in American film history - the infamous killer who haunts Crystal Lake armed with a razor-sharp machete...Jason Voorhees.

Movie opens in the US this upcoming weekend. Guess we'll have to wait a while.

The movie made an impressive debut on Friday nite in the US, grossing a huge US$19m on juz one single day. This looks to top Ghost Rider for the biggest President's Day opening.

yup agreed....got nipples and "piak piak" scenes.

i dont even know what to say....its not really scary, and the death scenes is VERY dissapointing. Rob Zombie's Halloween remake is waaaaaaaay better. 4 out of 10 for me, can give it a miss.

The last few good slasher films I saw were The Hills Have Eyes and Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake. Tot this could be good as it was directed by the guy who did Chainsaw.

Juz caught it a few days back on blu-ray (the picture/sound quality is really top-notched) and enjoyed this slasher film very much. Though it may not be my favourite slasher/horror, it did what it has intended to do - provide an hour and a half of fun, suspense and thrill. The killings may not be very original but the setups to these killings is suspenseful and nail-biting enough to keep you on the edge of your seat and fingers on your face. Guess the movie would have worked even better in a crowded cinema with screaming audience.
