I assume you are installing for windows XP?
By right if you install windows XP SP2, the camera will be auto installed

i think you have to activate it in the bios settings....press f2 during bootup and check.

Is yours a full XP installation or nLited? If it's nLited, you might have removed webcam support. The webcam should automatically be detected by XP and installed in My Computer under "USB Video Device".
And, there are no drivers for the webcam.

i encoutered some missing files error during the xp installation processs. therefore i have no choice but to skip some of the files. i guess the problem arises from there.
many thanks for your help.
and btw, can i check with you, if I am in linux, how to I go into the linux command shell? cant seems to find the option to do so.

Ctrl-Alt-T in Easy mode. Or run Konsole from the menu in Advanced mode.

Hehe no idea... I don't have an Eee PC 900. Check the support DVD for any drivers? It might work after Synaptics is installed.

beside bio update, you should go to the add/remove hardware, from there you should be able to view for touch pad. and from there, install it. there is actually a install/remove it
every now and then like a month or two, i click on it to see there is any new update
i own e701 and won know if the above reply would be any help to you. cheers
