Help

Just bought the Linksys WRT160N last Saturday, went home install, unable to connect to the Internet. I'm using Singnet ADSL modem on 3mbps broadband plan. I tried setting router with ISP user ID and password, change wireless setting to G, unable security settings still no luck. Anyone else face this same problem and care to share? Very sian already, almost giving up.

search this forum on how to set your modem to bridge mode.

Hi cpuer,

Appreciate your prompt reply. I've scour this forum but couldn't find the item on bridging mode. Perhaps you could explain it to me? Thanks

Finally...my router is up and running and with very strong signal too. After 2 days of reading all the numerous posts here, I did a simple step of pushing the reset button on my ST536v6 modem and voila! I'm connected. For all users using SNBB with the ADSL2 ST536v6 facing a similar problem, perhaps you could do the same thing.

You just push reset buttonon ST536v6 modem without having to set the modem to bridge mode ?
I am also having the same modem and WRT160N router. Will be setting these up soon.

Yes pressing the reset button will do the trick as well. Make sure the router is connected and configured with the username and password before hand.

That's what I do for my setup as well.

There's no need to do the long method of downloading and flashing the firmware which is what a lot of people recommend.

Good day everyone. I am trying to set up this router. Can't find the modem as the Buffalo router (that the Linksys is replacing) is connected to a phone line(?).

Pardon my noob-ness, but when I connect the phone line cable to the Internet port of the Linksys, the "Internet" logo doesn't light up at all and the computer isn't connected to the internet.

The only way I seem able to do so is to go the long - and stupid - way of connecting the Linksys to the Buffalo and the Buffalo is connected to the phone line.

Any solutions to connecting without using the Buffalo? Thanks in advance :)

First some questions.
Starhub Cable Modem or Singtel?
What are the brand and model numbers of the modem and the router?

This "phone line" is it really a phone line or a LAN cable. Go find a phone and stick the "phone line" in. Is the "phone line" too big?

==========

Next if you want to go one lesson ahead before sending the answers to above in:
Forget about the Router and connect the Computer to the Modem directly.
Switch off Router and Computer.
Switch on Router. Make sure it is really fully on.
Then switch on Computer.

Can Computer connect to internet?
