Alright i've tried that... still didn't go through...
I've turned it back on now, with an exception made in the settings of firewall to allow my program... still doesn't work...

Hi all
I have the same problem with Singnet Mio box 2wire 2701HGV-E.
I've set up the static IP to my machine, followed the port forwarding instructions on www.portforward.com
Disabled Windows Firewall to try checking
but still cannot connect
The application says the port is not open on 220.255.7.217
but my Default gateway and DNS server is 192.168.1.254
Pls help.. what did I set wrongly?

I had the same problem BEFORE too.
Btw, the 192.168.1.254 is the local port of your router. Your actual IP is not static. It is dynamic and assign by ST. You can view it in the main page when you go to: http://192.168.1.254/ in your IE. It is the DEFAULT GATEWAY. It changes frequently (sometimes 2 weeks, sometimes when your router is off and on).
Anyway, to forward port:
I forwarded my port in 2701. The steps:
1. From main page -> Connection Status -> Firewall (the LOCK icon).
2. Go to Firewall Setting -> it will prompt you for the password.
To Allow Users Through the Firewall to Hosted Applications...
Select a computer: Choose the computer that will host applications through the firewall: MYCOMP
select MYCOMP - which is the PC which you want the port to be forwarded.
Edit firewall settings for this computer:
Then choose:
Allow individual application(s) – Choose the application(s) that will be enabled to pass
through the firewall to this computer. Click ADD to add it to the Hosted Applications list.
All applications Games Audio/video Messaging and Internet Phone Servers Other User-defined Hosted Applications:
Then choose:
• Add a new user-defined application
Add the following setting:
a. Application name: any name to identify your app - for utorrent, i use uto
b. Protocol: choose TCP
c. Port: choose a port. for torrent choose port >50000. I choose 59333. if you open a port only, From and To shld be the same.
d. Then just click the "Add Definition" button.
e. Go back
3. Now, you shld have the new app in the box.
4. click on the app (eg. uto) and click ADD to host this application.
5. the appl shld now be hosted. which means your port is now open.
6. Click DONE.
If you have firewall (software, eg. Kaspersky), you need to open the port too. Else you wldnt get the green light.
hope this help.

Hi ktee.. thanks for replying. I was wondering if someone would jump in to help!
I did try exactly what you mentioned about port forwarding in the Firewall settings of 2701
The utorrent program is already exception in Windows Firewall settings
When i tested port, the prog still says:
Checking port 59333 on 220.255.7.222...
Error! Port 59333 does not appear to be open.
For my static IP, my settings are as follows:
IP Address: 192.168.1.200
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.1.254
preferred DNS Server: 192.168.1.254
you were mentioning about the Default Gateway shown on the router main page. Should I put that in for the IP address? or Default Gateway settings above? (Sorry, i'm a bit lost about all these..)

It's working now!!
I found the answer in another forum. My default browser was Firefox.. and it was a browser problem with the test on portforwarding. I used IE and it tested OK. Now utorrent is working :)

Hi guys i want to open a port for my utorrent and i followed the instructions from ktee but when i checked the port open options in utorrent my selected port is still not open.
I am currently using Singnet and my desktop computer is using a wireless Linksys adapter 802.11g to connect to the modem/router outside in the living room (miobox 2wire 2701-HGV-E).
I also read that my Kasper antivirus 6 might have something to do with why i cant portforward.
Any ideas what im doing wrong?
I tried adding the same application in the com that is hardwired to the mdoem/router but theres an error saying the application has been assigned to the computer thats is on the Linksys adapter.
Please help.
Thanks .

HI i've been looking for the answer to this for a long time. And i juz might have the answer. i think. Here it goes : you cannot open ports. Mainly coz ST is using DSL and they might have blocked all ports (except like port 21 etc for normal computer internet connections) This is to safeguard consumers by preventing hackers from using an open port to attack your computer. I know it sucks but its true. I've tried everything but none works. All my options were exhausted and the last remaining possibility is that ST has blocked the ports. So theres nothing you can do. And you cant complain either coz d/ling torrents are illegal (at least in SG).
But i've heard that those on broadband can portforward with no probs. I dunno. Maybe some1 on starhub broadband can tell us?
BUT if some1 did manage to portforward on ST DSL, pls share with all of us.

you cant get to port forward is your problem.
it does not imply the connections are being restricted in the first place
and neither is the service restricted. sooo many ppl have already port forwarded their p2p application.
