I was wondering if anyone who has the eeepc 701 encounter problem writing to the SD / SDHC card ? I tried downloading files to it or transferring stuff to it from my harddisk and it hangs while on the eeepc. But reading from it is no problem.

I read in eeeuser.com that there are people facing that and stuff and they did mentioned using some patriot brand of SD card which works but I doubt I could find that brand here in SG. Was wondering if there is a solution for it or a persistent problem too.

I could send my unit in for repairs or replacement if my is the only one facing the issue.

Thanks, perhaps I should go try a SDHC and see if it works.

It could be that my SD cards are old and make not be fast enough. I have no problem transferring files which are under 10mb but anything more would hang the PC.

I read that Sandisk SD works great.

i read in some place that SDHC Transcend cards are meant for EEE PCs, meaning they shd not have any compatible probs, brands such as kingston have some compatibility issues on EEE PCs.

not sure abt other brands

I think A-Data and Transcend have no problem with the EEE PC.

Thanks. I think I might know what is making my Kingston SD card not to work on the EEEPC is because it requires 3.3v to operate it and probably the Asus does not provides the full 3.3v, it may fail. I understand that if you raise the voltage on the eeepc, the SD cards which do not work before may work but I am not sure I want to do that.

I looked at the technical specs of the Sandisk and the Transcend SD cards, they operate between 2.7 to 3.6v which probably works better on the Asus.

Hi guys,

I oso encounter the same problem, can't write to my Toshiba 8BG SDHC card with the latest Eeepc 701.

However, strange to say that I have no problem writing/copying files to this card if I am using the earlier version of Eeepc 701 (the earliest release).
