federal is not bad from my past researches
stayed in swiss garden, nothing to complain about.. everything that should be there are there.. location not the best, but can walk to jalan alor..
Federal is a bit old.. Capitol is newer.

I stayed swiss garden long ago when it was brand new :lick: That time only RM100 net. Walking distance from Sg Wang and Bukit Bintang.
Also stayed at brand new capitol at RM145 with bf for 2 :lick: in the middle of BB.

of cos swiss garden is better .
but location wise capitol is better .
when staying at federal and royale bintang . do remember to request for a room with the roadside view .
can consider coronade also .... quite a safe hotel . lift won't operate unless you insert room keycard .

if you don't know . imbi monorail is just behind federal/royale bintang (behind lowyat plaza) .
monorail from KL sentral to Imbi cost RM1.60 . but to Bukit Bintang (1 additional stop) RM 2.60

tried both station before :o
going to bukit bintang station is more stress free, less chances knock down by cars, less humps + drains to cross-over.

Correction, I did not stay at capitol hotel. That time no capitol hotel. I stayed at Century Hotel. Later name changed and changed again to now known as Royal Bintang.

If price is not an issue, why not the Melia? It faces Times Square and the Imbi monorail station is on its doorstep. It went through a renovation 3 years ago. It is classier and more quiet too, I think.

Hello!
I was in KL last Friday, my gf and I stayed at Hotel Capitol and previously we stayed at Swiss Garden before.
We quite like Capitol even though it has smaller room but quite standard.
The location is excellent as it's just behind Sungei Wang Plaza, Times Square and Grand Pavilion are minutes away (walking distance).
There are quite a lot of makan places all around the hotel whereas Swiss Garden doesn't have.
Generally Capitol is quite a safe hotel as you need your room access card to operate the lifts.
Alright, enjoy the trip in KL and happy shopping!

I just came back from KL. Yupz Capitol Hotel is very accessible and near all the main shopping centres along the bukit bintang strip. But room is quite small.... otherwise got no complaints when i stayed 3 nights there. Some more got upgraded for free to premium room on the 17th floor! The view was quite something! Saw the petronas tower and KL tower every night and morning.
