Decent and clean, should be ok. Price around 10000 to 16000yen/nite. Which is a good area to stay, so that moving around is convenient. Thanks. :)

in kyoto the best places to stay is around the JR kyoto train station.

Hotels around the area are the new miyako, hankyu, kyoto tower, granvia kyoto

Happy hunting

this is a awesome place to stay. stayed here for 2N. i couldnt speak a word of japanese but through a friend who speaks or understand limited japanese, we managed to converse with her !!

she talked at length about ah thiongs ruining japan by importing china ingredients and black market stuff. interesting stuff from a japanese.

her ryokan is really as good as it looks in the pictures. anyone who wants pictures of it can ask me, more than glad to share them. awesome place.

Hello stars87,

Thanks for the link. It looks nice and clean.

Is there any attached bath? Got two kids below 6 yrs, do you happen to know what's their policy for children in the room?

Thanks again for sharing. :)

yea. there is. there's a bath in the house. its really like a home like that. you have to walk to the toilet. hmm, not too sure about the kids policy. can go to the rakuten booking and see how. usually depends. pretty cool neighbourhood. alot of food places around.

there's a vending machine on the way up to there that sells yakult. surprisingly for the country that gave the world yakult, yakult isnt widely avaliable in japan. the vending machine there has a fizzy version of yakult (highly recommended, awesome) and a lemon soda version (didnt really go down too well)

for ryokans, what i usually do know is that they count by per head. not by per room. so, you probably have to pay for your kids, but is it adult or children rate i am not sure. check the rakuten website ?

there's a breakfast provided though. awesome. miso soup and pumpkin, chicken and rice. awesome ! and its right next to kiyomizu temple as well. like a 5 min walk uphill. 15 mins walk to gion. its located in ku that contains all the arts and cultural area. hata something , cant remember. think its hatagaya ku. if you want dinner/lunch i think ya can request. the owner's/landlady's name is sumiko.

only downside is that its nowhere near kyoto station. must take a 20 min bus ride from the kyoto JR station. take to the GOJOZAKA bus stop. very quaint neighbourhood. quiet, not noisy. good for families in the sense that its reallly really small. they only have a room upstairs and a big room downstairs.

max number of people they host at any one time would be like 8 people i think. very very personal touch to the place. u get to sleep in futons, and sleep in tatami mat rooms. thats the best/most fun part of it.

Is the bathroom a shared one? :oThis type is like home-stay style (minsu) so the toilet might be common use type i guess... :P

yea. kinda like common toilet . but from what i know, i think sumiko stays upstairs. there's a toilet exclusively for guest use at the ground floor.

its like staying in HDB flat. you have a common toilet but only one user at a time. if you got 4 dudes (like that time i went with3 other dudes) thats pretty much about it. its like you have free roam of the ground floor.

but if you mean shared in the sense that there isnt a bathroom in the house and you have to go to a external sento. nope. the bath is witihn the home.:s12:

ild try to post some pics for you when i m back at home. dont have any pics on my laptop.

if you speak basic japanese, you can try calling them up directly to book i think. should be slightly cheaper than the rakuten quoted price.

Anyone stayed in Tower Hotel Kyoto before? Seems like the price is reasonable and location convenient..
