I travel a lot so I always place the country code infront of the number and store it in my contacts book.

For instance +65 if its a local number

But when I get a call the number just appears without the area code and doesn't match the name associated with the number as stored on my list.

I'm using software 2.0.1

Any suggestions?

I think its more related to the firmware. In my 2G iPhone, when I was using the firmware 1.1.4 with Appsupport patch, the CallerID was perfect. I save all the numbers with +65 or whichever country code applies. When I type the numbers without +65 in the dial pad, it can still pickup the names from the Address Book. Even better is that when I call overseas by typing the numbers with 018 prefix, it could still pickup the names from the Address Book. However, 2.0 or 2.0.1 is unable to do so.

In 2G iPhone, like what the above poster says, its the AppSupport Patch (For Singapore Caller ID) that fix the Caller ID.

With 3G iPhone that is unlocked, I assume that CallerID will be automatically be inside the 3G Firmware.

I thought AppSupport was necessary at first. But i found out it wasn't.

I installed an app which didn't uninstall properly aka unclean installation then screwed up my iPhone.

Did a restore and just set region to Singapore in settings and all the numbers came out nicely without AppSupportSG

now i have problem with the area code thing.... i sync with outlook, and some number with area code appear as (651) 2345678, those without area code appeared as or (234) 5678.

Then the sms and incoming all not translated correctly. Anybody got this problem?

Any fix? those AppsSupport are older firmware, don't think it work.

I just updated the firmware to 2.0.2

Goto settings -> General -> international -> Regional FOrmat -> Singapore
Yr call numbers will appear normally...
Nothing to do with updating the software/firmware version.

If you dial +6181234567 for australia, it will appear as a continous string
If yr local calls like me, if you put a +65 infront of all yr local contacts, it will still be formatted correctly

hope it helps...

i am having the same problem in Malaysia too.. eg. I stored my contact's phone format in 012123456. When this caller call me, i am able to see the contact name properly displayed. However, when he send me an sms. My iphone3G display the sms sender as +6012 123456 instead of his name !..

If i change the contact phone format to +6012123456. Then SMS received is properly display out the sender name.. BUT, incoming call display as 012123456 instead of his contact name..
What is wrong with iphone?? It should use the last 10 digit to do the matching.. Seem like iphone is stupid enough to match the COMPLETE phone number..

Apple support team ask me to restore the phone back to factory default.. But still the same issue..

Yes i have the same problem with my IPhone 3G too! Mine are singapore numbers so some have the +65 area code (eg +65912xxxxx) and some without the area code (eg 912xxxxx). Only numbers which have no area code will appear as the Contact's name, but for the ones with +65 area code, it will show the number only.

And does anybody know how to solve the Contacts having multiple numbers problem? I have Contacts with 1 home no and 1 hp no, but on the IPhone it only shows 1 number.

i am using iphone 2g but no such problems leh..probably its a firmware issue?

what i did before i got my iphone was that i saved the overseas number that my friend used to contact me according to his name and then i synced it around with my mac. things went well after that already..

Now i think i've found the cause of my problem. I think when i first imported Contacts from my SIM to the IPhone, it only imports 1 number from each contact.

For eg lets say my dad has two numbers, 1 office and 1 hp no. The IPhone only imports the office number. And when I check under Contacts, his hp no is nowhere to be found! Anybody knows the solution? thanks =)
