Everyone should have noticed the current sticky list of good n free software (http://deluxeforums.hardwarezone.com.sg/showthread.php?t=590758) is too messy for anyone to browse through and look for the software that they need, also there are different users posting the same software over again. Hence, I've decided to revamp the thread and make it better.

Hopefully, the moderator will put up my thread as sticky and removed the old one. Also, seeing that the TS of the previous thread last activity was 3 years ago, I decided not to send him a message to inform him (he won't login and see anyway).

As suggested by wikipedia, Freeware is computer software that is available for use at no cost or for an optional fee (voluntary fee). Therefore, I urge fellow hardwarezoners to follow this few simple rules before posting and recommending others of freeware.


The software must be free-of-charge.
The software must not contain any form of malware.

I would also like to set a format for people to follow when they introduce software to others. This would help people to understand the nature of the software before downloading and use it .
The format would be:

Product Name: Name of the software
Website: Main page of the software website *Note: Do not link it to the downloading page.
Image Preview: Try to get a image (product image or screenshot should do) off from the software site and post it over here.
Product Description/Features: Copy the selling points of the software over at the website and post it over here to let others have a better idea of what the software does.
Product Review: Do provide a short writeup of the product that you're introducing to others if you had it previously or still using the product at the moment.

An example will be given below. It is perfectly fine to leave out certain part such as product review or image if you couldn't find any. But please make an effort to do so, it helps!

Please only suggest software that are known to be free from spyware or any other form of malware.

It's faster and will not get as much errors as some other browser does!

Anyone using this smoothly? Well, it didn't 'walk the stated' for me. I think it even freezers important processors that are running. i pressed the key button and my whole vista right away in a coma state. Can't even open task manager. Also when it is restarting/logging off, it will stuck at Logging off':s11::s11::s11:

I am using Auslogics Disk defrag but what pisses me off is that it only defrags the FILES. When I see the map I notice that the disk is still very fragmented with files all over the place.

I'm not too sure about defragging as I don't defrag my system at all. Though I should do it once every half a year or so. Anyway, you can try defragger.

Half-open limit fix is a program designed to change the maximum number of concurrent half-open outbound TCP connections (connection attempts) in the Windows system file tcpip.sys.

Microsoft first introduced this limit in Windows XP SP2 (Service Pack 2) and is present in later versions of Windows. This was done to try to slow the spreading of viruses and malware from system to system and also to reduce the impact of infected systems participating in DoS (Denial of Service) attacks.

This limit makes it impossible for Windows systems to have more than 10 concurrent half-open outbound connections. After 10, new connection attempts are put in a queue and forced to wait.

Therefore, the speed of connection to other computers is actually limited.

P2P (peer-to-peer) programs (µTorrent, BitComet, eMule, P2P TV etc.) are generally the most affected programs. As they use up all 10 of the half-open connections, other Internet activity, especially the loading of web pages, can be extremely slow. The delay before the beginning of opening can make some tens seconds. This happens regardless of the speed of your Internet connection.

Half-open limit fix takes care of this problem by increasing the maximum limit of half-open connections. For the overwhelming majority of Internet users, changing the limit to 100 will be more than sufficient.
