You have to understand that there is no such thing as the best racket as every racket has different characteristics for different type of players.
Anyway, my only advise is not to get a Yonex racket as S$100 can get you better rackets from other manufacturers IMO. Only the high end Yonex rackets are good, but those cost between S$180 - S$270.
You can try looking at brands like RSL, Prince, Sintec, Ashaway, Kason, Victor, Apacs, ProAce etc.
I would highly recommend getting ASTEC (an Indonesian brand founded by Alan Budikusuma and Susi Susanti who are married and are former Olympic Gold medalists). However, their rackets are only sold in Indonesia atm.
Since you do not have any specific brand that you wish to purchase, I would recommend you go Queensway Shopping Centre as there are more shops with a variety of rackets.
Below are some of the places I know of that sells rackets, shuttles, grips, shoes etc and provide badminton stringing.

An offensive player should generally get a medium stiff to stiff racket. The racket should also be head heavy. But then again, are you just starting? If yes, try not to use stiff flexibility rackets as you may find that your shots got "no power".
What stringing types? You mean the different types of stringing methods? 4 knots (2 strings) or 2 knots (1 string)?
I personally feel that 2 knots stringing have more repulsion than 4 knots. However, 4 knots is suppose to hold the string tension better (and not spoil your racket) as the mains (vertical string) are supposed to be strung 10% tighter than the cross (horizontal string) to maintain the original shape of the racket head frame.
If you are just playing for fun, there isn't a need to know so much stuff. Just buy a racket, string it, and play! :D

Nowadays, you should be able to see the specs of the racket written on the shaft or racket head. Things like weight, balance, stiffness/flex and the type of technology the racket utilizes might be mentioned.
If there isn't any, ask the shop owner! He should know.

$125? It's not expensive but should be able to bargain and get it slightly cheaper.
Also, NewLink Sports is generally cheaper compared to the other shops. But their stringing is quite bad IMO.
You should have wait till all the shops are open so that you can compare prices before buying.

Muscle Power Series is quite old already, plus the rackets are quite fragile. Also, only the MP 77, MP 99, MP 100 are good. MP 88 is crap.
NanoSpeed 9000 Type S or Type X are extremely stiff and head light, not very good rackets IMO.
Btw, the rackets you listed are out of his budget range.

hi all,
I recently saw a promotion at Sintec Sports City Tampines. Trade-in any usable racquet and get $50 off Sintec racquets retailing at $185 and $175, plus a free racquet cover, string, shirt and grip.
Has anyone seen this promo? How's it? Are sintec racquets good? :s11:
I am a noobish player but has played for a few months. So decided to upgrade out of my Yonex $20 racquet.
Any advice? Word of thanks in advance. :D

Sintec rackets for $185 and $175 is expensive! After $50 disc is what the usual price is.
If you have budget around $120 - $140, you may want to get Yonex. Go to reputable racket shops around SG such as: 10&10 (1st level Bras Basah), Ranking sport (3rd Level Bras Basah), Gala Sport (1st Level Queensway), or alternatively can check Kemin Sport @Beauty World Plaza.
For $120-$140, you can get your self Yonex Muscle Power Limited or Yonex Armortec 250 Limited Edition ...both of them are fairly good rackets.
If your budget is < $100, go for APACS rackets. They are Yonex clones, but pretty good. Paint job of rackets are exactly the same with Yonex. Try EdgeSaber 10. It's quite good.
Happy hunting!

For budgets between $120-$140, I suggest getting other brands like Victor, Babolat, Wilson, Prince, etc.
Imo, only Yonex high end rackets are good and they generally cost over $200.

Not too sure about Sintec.....
I personally do not like using brands that attempt to imitate Yonex rackets designs and names.
After all, they certainly do not play/feel like the original Yonex counterparts.
I prefer and respect brands that have their own range of rackets, technology, etc.
Btw, HEAD badminton rackets are also pretty good.
