Hi,

Due to some hardware problem on my old PC I have DIY a new PC. I have installed Acronis True Image Home 10 on this new PC and used Acronis to create a new bootable rescue CD.

While trying to test out the rescue CD, this is what I found.
I am able to bootup using the rescue CD and load Acronis Full version from the CD. But when I select any of the action example like backup and recovery, Acronis is unable to detect any hard disk on the system so unable to proceed further. Thought that the rescue CD I just created might have some problem, I tried bootup using an older CD I have created with my old PC. The same, I am able to bootup using the CD and load Acronis but Acronis was unable to detect any hard disk on the system. I have 3 SATA hard disks on this PC.

When I start up Window and use the version of Acronis which I have installed in Window, this version of Acronis is able to detect all my hard disks. Can someone please advice why my Acronis on CD doesn't work.

Thank you.

I take it as you are using RAID or AHCI? If so, when acronis recue cd starts up, use the "safe" version. should do the trick. Somehow the full version doesn't support raid.

Thank you. Boot up in safe mode indeed does the trick.

My motherboard is MSI P35 Neo 2. On this board it has a ICH9 PIC/APIC chip and the linux system on the Acronis True Image v10 recovery CD does not appear to be able to find SATA drives on boards with ICH9.

Actually, if the sata ports are set to IDE in the bios, they would be detected with no problems. However, regardless of types of types of chips used for SATA, as long as you enable them in bios, they would not be able to be detected by Acronis full version. So, you would have to use "safe" mode if you are using RAID/AHCI, regarding of the chip used (JMicron, ICH series, etc).

some time it also depend on your M/B chipset. I heard the latest version can even in full mode , Acronis2009 12.0

with acronis CD bootup on a vista engine
any raid can be easily detected or driver can be install later
