Hi,

I purchased a MZK-NAS02SG with ver1.1.2a firmware and 2x 500GB WD SATA2 hard-disk.
At first I set them up as Non-RAID. Auto-formated and partitioned later, only HDD2 LED is lit. But I can copy files to both disk. When I copy files to both disks, HDD1 & HDD2 LED light is not flashing. With HDD1 installed, HDD2 LED is lit but not HDD1.

However, all LEDs are lit (except for LAN1 & LAN2) when I power up the unit.

Shutting down: When I press and hold the RELEASE button, a short beep followed
by a long beep. After that the unit remains powered up. The internal web server
is not responding though. I then switched the unit off manually. I was expecting the unit to power down on its own just the older NAS-01G model.

Then I changed to RAID1 and reformat. During formating both HDD1 & HDD2 LEDs are off . After format is done, HDD2 LED is flashing, HDD1 LED is off, RAID is syncing.

After the RAID1 has been synced, and RAID is active, HDD2 is lit, HDD1 is off.
When I copy files to the unit, HDD2 does not flash. HDD1 does not come on. But files are registered in the storage as I can play movies.

Any suggestions / comments?
Thanks.

Regards,

Answer from Planex Support Asia:

The latest firmware v1.1.2a has some troubles with the LEDs and will be fixed in next version of firmware.

Also, after you press and hold the Release button and hear two beep sounds (one short and one long), the MZK-NAS02SG will be shut down and it's safe to turn the switch (located in the back panel of MZK-NAS02SG) off.

I have problem with the LED as well. After just 2 days of operation, the HDD1 LED and the LAN1 LED failed. It does not even light up during the boot when I power up. I had contacted Planex and they advised me to upgrade to the latest firmware but I think the LED are fused. Everything is working fine except the LED so I am waiting to see if I need to go down to get it repaired.

Anybody knows whats the maximum RAM and flash means? Its it user upgradable? Says up to 128mb DDR. I have DDRs lying around, just want to know if I can do it myself.
