ACARD ANS-9012 costs S$139 here. A single Kingston 4GB Class6 SDHC can be found @ S$13 so total is only S$217. Other SATA/IDE SSD seems to cost much more. :D

no heat?
NO HEAT? :s8:

What does vibration gotta do with zero heat generation?

Imagine transfering 10gb of datas or installing a 7gb game on this(if it possible),
i reckon it will take an hour or more!!!
class6 is still slow compare to a normal 7,200rpm HDD.

But to look on the brighter side, this D.I.Y 6piece SDHC adaptor sure looks good on a PCMCIA slot.

well, the generation of heat is actually vibrations of atoms:s8:

RAid 0 6 of them seem to produced a more stable result...

But 120mb/s on average for read and 80mb/s for write is it faster than SSDs of today?

ravener

well think of all this as using multiple SDHC cards in a SATA array... and SDHC aren't famous for their speed are they?

Info on the product can be found here...

I'm still wondering if its faster than MLC SSD... If yes this is quite a good buy with 6x8GB SLC SDHC at the price point...

Ok guys, I am finally back from SLS seeking the answer to this SSD builder... Unfortunately TS thread about getting one SSD from 6 RAID 0 >$220 is nothing but fairy tale stories... That build is 100% MLC and a 32GB SSD MLC itself actually cost around the same... The idea about a cheaper alternative is not that much of a bed of roses, cost the price you put them up together is going to set you back as well...

Just now I went to SSS to look for the SSDB and from the SDHC I can see the scandisk 8GB SDHC SLC was sold for $88 each... Now putting all that together would gives us a 48GB SLC SSDB for a hefty price of $667... Probably it will make you feel better that a 32GB Transcend and Mtron SLC SSD is sold at $650 and $699 respectively...

But the scandisk isn't really that good as its only a SDHC, its the CF that is the real performance killer, to your pocket as well... 8GB each cost $149 for Scandisk Extreme IV SLC, you calculate the full cost yourself...

Looking for other alternatives isn't also very plausible, the Transcend SLC (codename 150x) one for 8 GB is around $100+, already confirmed with MemoryWorld...

It looks like the dream of finding another alternative to a cheap OS SSD for Vista is really dreams... I still going to have to spent a bomb if I wanna get those dream fulfilled... Argh!

Btw I just saw the compatible list for ANS-9012... Dun tell me it cannot support Transcend, Scandisk or Kingston SDHC...

Also does it support CF as well?

It isn't pain doing that... The money I have wasted getting those CF is much much more painful :s22:

Anyway so is other brand SDHC like Transcend/Scandisk supported by CNS-9012?

I wonder if it is possible to RAID 0 two of the ACARD ANS-9012. But I think of the increased probability of failure with 12 cards .....

Side track... given today's exchange rate, is Hong Kong a good place to purchase high speed SD cards? Assuming I am willing to take the risk of warranty issues.
