Hi, I'm trying to reuse my old ADSL wireless router for my Maxonline connection.
i.e. I'm connecting the motorola digital voice modem to my D-link DSL-2640T to act as a wireless router.
I ran the setup wizard and it appeared to be up and running. But when I try to connect to the Internet, I'm unable to do so.
I can connect if I run another ethernet cable through the D-link router to my laptop.
So what's the problem here? Glad if you can help out here. Thanks in advance!

Router already say for "ADSL", still wanna heow use on "cable". The routing function only "routes" local lan to "internet" on the phone port and no where else.

Technically you can make ADSL router work with a cable modem. You just need to know how.

That because only a small handful amount allows you to configure the WAN port on the vlan capable switch IC. You cant really do it just with any brand or model.

If it really makes you upset that you will be not using the wireless ADSL router because of your cable set up, you can at least make it into a Access Point, but bear in mind that only one machine can connect to the AP wirelessly at a time.

The cable modem is the one accessing the internet, not the ADSL router.
If you configure DHCP for the router instead of PPPoE you can still use it with the cable modem.
