Hey guys, I've been using Mio for quite a few months without problems. However, recently I've been getting intermittent disconnections quite often. Do any pros have any idea whats the problem? I'm using the 2701HGV-E with 5.29.135.16 btw. I would be glad to provide more info to solve the issue if required. Any help would be much appreciated ;)

The firmware version seems ok to me...... how about some line stats....... got to 192.168.1.254/mdc in your browser then type in 2wire for the password the line stats are under the ststictics there.......

Sorry, I don't really follow this forum so I'm not sure what info to provide. Dc in my case refers to my internet connection. I can still access the router, but sometimes under Broadband Link - Summary I see my Internet status as Not Connected. The problem resolves itself after a random amount of time from what I can tell so far, before dc-ing again and the cycle repeats.

Ok, here's what I see but I can't make any sense of it though :s11:

Here we go again...!
guynextdoor, run the 2wire for at least 12 hours, then copy/paste the following info here.
1. Use IE/FF go 192.168.1.254/mdc (The password is 2wire)
2. Copy DSL Connection Details from Broadband Link – Summary
3. Copy DSL from Broadband Link – Statistics
4. Copy DSL from Broadband Link – Detailed DSL Statistics
5. Copy Ethernet & Wireless from Local Network – Statistics
6. Copy Current Settings & Additional Settings from Local Network – Wireless
7. Copy 1st line under Pinholes & 1st 2 lines under NAT Sessions from Firewall – Detailed Information

guynextdoor, 1st look your line stats is pretty ok. Only the 3/1024 available NAT session table is fishy.
tell us your subscribed services (got mioTV or mioVoice?)
tell us your setup (how many comp/laptop, wired or wireless?)
tell us when dc occur, what are the status of LED lights on the 2wire?
copy all lines in Pinholes & NAT sessions & paste here.
Try to change wireless channel to use something else, scan & check surrounding wireless channel, prefer you to use those less common channel.

1. I have mioVoice only
2. 3 computers all wireless
3. If I'm not mistaken, the last light (internet) turns red when dc occurs
4. The whole list is really long. Screen capture here (http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/8264/2wiremdcfirewallinformazm1.png).
I've actually changed my channel to a less common one after the problem hit but no effect so far though..

Surprise to see 0 out of 1024 NAT sessions available but your inbound session is within range. Is any of the 3 computers hosting any kind of service?
Maybe tell us what kind of stuffs you do on that 3 computers, honest pls.
EDITED TO ADD: The internet light on 2wire turns steady red, it's telling you that the "Gateway is unable to initiate a PPPoE session".

192.168.1.140 is the computer I'm using now. I'm torrenting shows to watch so I guess that explains the 1.4GB transferred. Funny thing is, I've been doing this all along and the problem only crops up recently. The other 2 computers haven't been on today so all the traffic so far have been from mine (at least those in the screenshots).
liangtam:
Haha, I was actually looking for the program to do that myself and I came up with this Firefox add-on (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6168). Cheers.

What i see is another case of torrent without self moderation.
Francis, TS line is quite healthy. He can ask helpdesk to monitor his line but chances are wont find anything suspicious. The funny thing is TS never say slow surfing but instead he say dc.
guynextdoor, you can call helpdesk to arrange line monitoring service, tell them your 2wire modem recorded 2 unexplained DSL re-training session and 1 unexplained loss of signal/margin failure. Ask them to provide a report and advise you your line condition. As for slow surfing due to high torrent load, they cannot & will not help you.

Hmm, ok I'll see what they tell me. I don't get slow surfing speeds when the connection is
still up though. I'll try to do some of my own tests with and without BT to see it's really the case. Thanks for the help guys :)

Ok guys, I've stopped BT and did some monitoring but the problem prevails. In fact, it seems to have gotten worse - now the phone doesn't work as frequently as it did before. Getting pretty frustrated. Is it possible my router is faulty? I'm highly tempted to bring the router down for a check. Or should I just get a line check done by a technician?

You have to restart ur device and NOT run BT. Dun run BT stop wait awhile and claim it gets worse, it really does!
There are differences with the way u carried it out.

Yeah, I did that already. I've manually restarted by unplugging the router as well as restarted by going to the router control panel, but the dcs just keep happening..
