Yeah it could be the half open ports thing. It could also be because its daytime on the other side of the world, so more ppl seeding.

half-open ports only makes reaching top speed quicker, it doesnt give higher top speed. :)

if SH really cap torrent to the worst, i guess there will still be no way to reach that kind of speed?

default winxp = 10

set to 256.

Sitex coming....so they "un-clog" the fat green pipe "TEMPORARY". Just like MRT, only festive season they increase the train frequency to 2 MINS.

I didn't make any change to my system, except to power off and on the modem to get the upload speed increase, and my torrents definitely increased in speed, even though I didn't change uTorrent upload limit.

download popular torrents like openoffice or linux os. majority of the speed depends on the number of seeds.

That could be true. Especially those peers in singapore, can upload much faster.

this is always the case when computer show around the corner. then after everyone recontract/ sign up, they will limit the speed again.

I find it strange that everyone kpkb about so called *slow* torrent. I just turned on torrent to get the latest DVD iso of ubuntu. My average speed is 950KB/s, which is close to the subscribe MOL 8Mbps plan. I supposed the so called "slow" experience has to do with pirated content and there's probably not enough seeds or the seeders are just throttling back speed.

so no one know the tcp/ip mod is for?

so no one know the tcp/ip mod is for?

For winxp, the max half tcp connections is defaulted to 10
The connections are used to try linking you to other users.

This tool allows you to set a higher num of half tcp connections, thus, you are able to try connecting to more users at a time. Thus, less time spent connecting to peers and your torrents will have the d/l speeds climb faster.

Eg. with low half tcp, takes you 5 mins to reach 100kb/s
with higher settings, takes you 1 min or less

that is what i know
maybe other gurus can advise:yawn:
