Hi all,
I am on Starhub Maxonline Premium plan. Previously my cable modem (SB5100) was connected to a Linksys wrt54G Router. The router got changed to D-Link DIR 655.
Now my internet is so slow. webpages refuse to load. I have to refresh them to load, and it loads like it's on 56K Modem.
I did a speedtest.net and I got 190KBPS !!! (No downloading or whatever) :(
I installed my router correctly according to instructions. This thing still happen. I OFF and ON the cable modem and router and tried to reset the things. Still no difference.
I notice my cable modem when I press standby it doesn't go on standby.
PLEASE PLEASE Some kind soul please help me on what to do. I connected my Linksys WRT54G back but it can't connect to the Internet, but it has got wireless reception.
I am at a loss, and on the verge of mental breakdown. :s22:

Have you tried resetting the router fully and use it? It should work default open connection. Secondly if you connect directly to modem, any similar issues?

Sounds like possible router issue since you're tried all times. Call dlink 24x7 support. They very good and will help. RMA your router if its faulty.

I switched OFF cable modem. OFF router. wait 10 seconds. ON modem, when the green Online button on the modem is lit up, I ON my wireless router. The signal strength is good, but the internet surfing is downright HORRIBLE.

Reboot cable modem. Do a hard-reset of the router via the pin-hole at the rear? Then re-connect back to modem. Now configure your router. Stick to 192.168.0.1 - x, I find using 192.168.1.1(linksys ip range) for dlink , it chokes...
Also be careful of all your network software configuration(E.g firewall) that still uses the ip address range of linksys products instead of dlink's range.
If you are using BT and... Scale down any crazy connections numbers you had set in the BT client that was supported by previous WRT54G(custom firmware)'s ip_conntrack setting.

You can also try to bring the Dir-655 to a friend's house.
Test out the router there :s13:

Just bring the router down to dlink to get them to look at it for you. I suspect a lemon router, cos I've not had problems with properly working ones, and I've already bought 3 myself (2 are overseas in the philippines with relatives).
