Hi guys. I've been doing some research, but I'm unfamiliar with SNBB.

I use torrents, and may sign up for rapidshare/MU in future. I don't do online gaming, and I'm used to ADSL2+ speeds in Australia.

So I'm hoping to get a broadband plan in SG that can achieve the same kinda performance.

Do you think a 3mbps plan with SNBB is sufficient? How fast are BT speeds on a 3mbps - on average?

Another very impt issue is I'm worried that SNBB may not work over my home's tel line. First the lines in my home are about 10 years old. And second my tel line is the kind you have to hit a number before being able to dial out. So will that cause any problems with an ADSL broadband connection?

Or should i be looking at other ISPs? I heard Starhub throttles or caps speeds

My budget is about $40/mth...

Anyway thanks in advance for you advice! Thank you!

Dunno y u are asking such funny question

BT has alot of factors and as such, there is no min, average or highest speed u are guaranteed to hit. of cos, 0 is min and 3mbps is highest in this case.

It also does not matter if your flat is 10 yr old or 40yr old. The line outside is NEW. If you do not maintain your home portion of the wire and corrosion, greenish stuff appears, time to change.(PS: having corrosion does not mean u will have problems in ur connection also)

Dial number out can means PABX etc. SingTel can advise u further on this

sorry to invade but how do I know whether the telephone lines in my flat are in good condition or not? The exterior looks okay.

other than ur home point, the dp nearest to you, but is telecom's property.
if u manage to hook ur wire there, u can make use of ur modem to do the line reading job

Anyway, do you think this modem will work with Singnet BB's 3mbps plan?

I'm thinking whether to continue using this modem, which I've been using (and i think it's works great) in AU for the past three years on an ADSL plan and just 1.5years ago on ADSL2+ too.

'eeeeeeeeeeee' noise from the Dlink G604T? Nope. Not in the 3+ years I've been using it in au.

liangtam: i placed my ear close to my Dlink G604T and indeed i heard a soft and really high pitched 'eeeeee' sound. hahaha. nv knew it was there. barely audible. haha
