First thought write up
Looks great, feels great! Light, slim and feel well built. The back hinge doesn't pose a issue with me as it feels stable and VERY SMOOTH! But one thing to complain about is the keypad layout. Those who are used to previous Japanese handphones may be pressing the dictionary button often.

Tried M1 SMS issue, FIXED!
Good news for those who complain of lack of themes. This time round, Sharp is so generous that we have 7 THEMES on SH-01A as shown on the photo below
http://www.japanhandphones.com/pictures/sh-01a/sh-01a10.jpg
Another point to note is that the way the photos are displayed in the Data Folder is different now. Very fast respone too. It shows the photos type, file size and image size

Can their music player support mp3 files? (I only see AAC and WMA at their web page)
Able to send and receive mms in Singapore?
Able to send sms to multiple parties at a time?
And also, their bluetooth can be connected and use to send files like local phones?
For SH-01A, can it be fully software unlock?
Hav T9?
And what type of battery do they use, Li-polymer?
Oh yeah, can starhub user use?
If not, i'll change to M1 :D
LoL

Okie, since Kuro is not back yet and I already have some of the answers to ur questions, I shall fill in ur enquiries for u.
1) No, japanese phones generally do not support mp3 playback natively. (this has actually something to do with their domestic online music industry there, as Apple iTunes JP and Napster mostly supports the latest single downloads in AAC or WMA format only) For mp3 playback support in japanese phones, you can opt for previous season models such as SO905i/SO906i by NTT Docomo instead.
2) No MMS support. It seems like u haven't really read up on how japanese phones works locally outside of Japan, so I suggest u read up the threads in the forum, to understand their technical abilities and restrictions out of the box. Generally the latest japanese phones these days from NTT Docomo/Softbank are unable to get their MMS/Internet features unlocked. Everything else works of course. (excluding functions like GPS and FeliCa)
3) Compose SMS function is different from Compose Message for Docomo phones, in the sense that because in Japan, their default messenging standard is via i-mode email, they do not use SMS generally so this feature is sorta crippled. Meaning there's no support for sending SMS to multiple recipients. However after sending out a msg, it will be located to the Outbox folder of ur Message folder, u will then have an option of forwarding to the next new individual recipient w/o having to compose the msg again. Generally these days, msging on the latest Docomo/Softbank phone is slightly more tedious compared to local phones because they do not come with multple SMS support as well aka long SMS. (u're only restricted to 160chars per SMS)
4) Bluetooth can be used normally to send pictures taken via the phone's camera, or ur personal wallpapers that you have in your phone's onboard memory/expansion memory. However pictures will be DRM-locked to a format called .VNT , upon transfer to another phone or PC but there's a way to solve this by using this software (http://www.madbot.org/index.php?p=4). Otherwise generally, the SH-01A shouldn't have any BT incompatibility with devices out there such as wireless headsets/keyboards. I'm able to use my SH906i finely with my Sony BT wireless adapter and Apple Wireless KB w/o any issues.
But if u're talking abt sending music files/movies encoded on ur phone, srsly I can nv comprehend why you would do this since theoritically Bluetooth 2.0 EDR only maxes out at ard 256KB/sec (2.1Mbit/sec is abt the max data transfer rate for Bluetooth 2.0 specifications) but usually ur real life mileage will be much lower than that just like how internet connection providers work, due to how BT is based on wireless radio technology on the 2.4Ghz frequency which is what wireless LAN connections is based on as well, so ur environment u're located at will also affect the overall speed as well. While sending phone pictures to ur friends at 256KB/sec is considered a pretty decent speed, I wouldn't imagine how long u will have to wait if you would to send a high quality AAC/WMA encoded music file or movie file to ur friend, so just leave those tedious transfer tasks to ur PC/laptop using USB 2.0 transfer (maximum up to 480Mbit/sec or 60MB/s) would do I will say.
5) No Software unlock for the latest japanese phones, period. Regarding T9, it's not exactly T9 as mentioned in the Docomo Winter season thread, it's just english predictive text input via Sharp's native Shoin 7 input system, slightly diff from T9 standard but it can predict alphanumeric chars now so it works for english messenging. Battery Capacity for SH-01A is Lithium 800mAh, took this from the official Docomo catalogue brochure.
can Singtel sim be use on it? Aimming at SH-03A but now got poision by SH-01A
Definitely can be used. NTT Docomo SH series in the past nv had any issues with Singtel users been using my SH905i/SH906i with no problems. It's only for M1 users that the SMS receiving is crippled, voice-calls has no working issues though. (read up the Docomo 906i/706i thread for that, it's already been discussued before)

Woot bro congrats on your new phone purchase! Wah last time keep hearing u say u wanna hoot the SH 90XiTV series, now u finally have ur dream come true! (since theortically the SH-01A is SH907iTV in disguise hehe) haha will be looking forward to the camera pictures taken by ur SH-01A. (definitely more interesting since u have ur 903SH with u also to do some side by side PQ comparisons)
White color is a good choice for SH-01A, personally for SH-01A I think the White and Black color is the nicest liao. The rest of the other colors seems to give off a more cheapo material feeling vibe to me (with some glittery thingy underneath the housing when light is shone on it), just my own personal opinion here hope the other SH-01A users don't come hoot me. :D
Aiyo, M1 so unique on Sharp models. Haiz.
Hope u have gd news else Fujitsu might be my choice.
Ya no choice what to do, it has happened. Inherent issue since the 905i days for SH series. Maybe MNP to Singtel lor if u're very keen on the SH-01A? As for Fujitsu, don't be too excited abt this model, I just found out abt some flaws regarding the F-01A when I was reading up some japanese user reviews over the weekend. Will post the details in the Winter thread later.
I took some shots using the SH-01A. Forgot to bring the memory card for my 903SH. Didn't managed to take any comparsion shots. Will do it tomorrow night. Now uploading the SH-01A shots.
Uploaded the Night shots, will upload the comparsion shots between it for day and night with 903SH tomorrow. Videos will be up tomorrow too.

Oh really ? there is something wrong with the Touchscreen :/ ? It's Fujitsu's first model with Touchscreen right? Is it not responding ok? I did see some videos on ニコニコ of the F, and the owner did have to push more than once sometimes :/
Yea exactly!! The blue and Black F is the the phone that really appealed to me!! It looks very keitai-ish lol.. reminds me of SH903i, which i really really like haha.

can anyone explain what is the goal of making a huge black circle near the camera lense, while the lens only takes like 1/5 of the whole black circle?
It's an old come-back of the previous design used in previous Sharp's Vodafone JP models last time, specifically the PHS-based V602SH model (http://k-tai.impress.co.jp/cda/article/showcase_top/19661.html), as well as the 3G model version which is known as the V902SH (http://k-tai.impress.co.jp/cda/article/showcase_top/22182.html) respectively. You will find that they do bear some similarities on the back-camera portion, which I believe it's due to how Sharp wanted to emphasize on the camera feature this time, in terms of aesthetic design perspective perhaps they wanna mimic the digital camera style of form factor.
If I'm thinking what u're thinking as well, then yes I have to admit as well that the black circle portion of the camera lense design sorta tainted the overall design of the phone. In fact for this Winter season's of SH series, there's just something personal in terms of the design factor that I don't really like abt, for both the SH-01A/03A models. Definitely doesn't have that overwhelming attraction to tempt me to buy it unlike the prev SH series, then again like they say, a man's meat is another's poison so yeah this is just my personal qualms that's all.
Tha alot Haonan! For ur replies :D

No worries PongRareRare. :) Yeah japanese keitais are not really meant for everyone though, depending on ur needs and how much you rely on the interface/OS, it may not suit your personal usage at all. It's just like for corporate executive users, having a Symbian/WM-based OS phone with push-mail would prob be better off than just holding a bare japanese keitai, cos a keitai alone won't fulfill their needs. But I would say sometimes in this kind of scenario, owning the best of the both worlds will be the ultimate enjoyment, and yes japanese keitais is actually quite an addictive obsession once u're into it, it's almost even worse or on-par with addiction to drugs if you ask me lol. =:p

Hey bro, thanks for ur contribution I have seen your uploaded night shots. Actually not trying to diss your camera taking skills or anything, but personally I don't think the night shots taken by the SH-01A is anything to shout about. I believe the old 903sh can take similiar quality pictures if not better.
Here's some night shot pictures (http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/showpost.php?p=25648439&postcount=3833) that bro K_Gokiburi contributed sometime back in the HWZ 903sh pictures thread, I just managed to went thru some of the pages to find the samples, and to be honest, they are relatively the same in terms of quality as the nightshots taken by the SH-01A if u ask me. While it's not an exact comparison of a same scene, it's pretty close as all pictures above are taken outdoor at night with natural ambient lighting.
I have also found a few more samples over at the old HoFo Sharp thread and even one taken in Orchard as well, where some people uploaded their night shots to use as a comparison sample here. You will see that the V903sh basically takes night shots w/o much noise generated with a similar kind of picture quality found in the SH-01A samples that you have uploaded. This theory is made possible, because the CCD sensor found in the V903sh was also based on a 1/2.5" CCD, similar size SH-01A's one except that Sharp managed to cram up to 8MP this time into the SH-01A which obviously would produce more noise in its pictures in certain scenarios if you ask me.
http://i36.tinypic.com/2a8pxrn.jpg
http://i38.tinypic.com/13z3ddf.jpg
http://i33.tinypic.com/x6hrx5.jpg
In summary, what I'm trying to drive at is I'm not trying to say that the SH-01A's camera is bad or anything, in fact I personally think the most significant upgrade this time in regards to SH-01A is the built-in mechanical shutter and the 29mm wide-angle lens which are very very welcomed and nice IMO, not to mention that the SH-01A officially supports up to 16GB microSDHC this time round (so you can take and store plenty of pictures/videos on your phone) but in regards to its camera's overall picture quality, the kind of quality that SH-01A gives off is not overwhelming enough to take V903sh's camera throne away IMO. In my own words, I certainly don't think I would need 8 megapixels in a phone anytime soon, unless I'm aiming for huge print-outs directly from my phone.
P.S: I think for those who nv had a V903sh before or never had the chance to own one, I would think this is a rather good chance for anyone to buy the SH-01A and experience the camera quality goodness of a Sharp keitai yourself.
Cheers. :)

Might be on a case to case basis, I still remembered Kuro trying out the SH906i for some of his customers last time, previously there was once he also said SH906i seemingly can work on M1 in regards to the sms, then later suddenly sms cannot work correctly again. In any case there's already been some owner feedbacks given by other M1 users on the previous SH905i/SH906i user threads here, we cannot rule out the fact here that SH-01A/03A will have the same sms compatibility issues with the M1 subscriber users. For now let's just assume they have the inter-operator sms problem, so I definitely won't recommend any fellow HWZoners who are M1 users to grab the SH series under NTT Docomo.
Regarding the flaw about the Fujitsu's F-01A, it's actually nothing major probably to you guys, I'm just picky about details that's all. It's mostly gotta do with the screen quality, there's been reports that the LCD screen panel quality has degraded from the previous F906i model. I'm still trying to follow the japanese reports right now, so I will do a follow-up on this issue later in the Winter thread when I have the time.

Relax guys, don't speculate and read into my msg much. If u're interested in the F-01A, by all means go and purchase one. I wouldn't want my personal words to affect your buying decision, cos sometimes this kind of things are actually pretty subjective on certain grounds. I may care abt this detail in a phone, but you may not, yeah that kind of thing. For now, the flaw which I had mentioned earlier on to Dreamer75 abt the F-01A model, is actually only gotta do with the LCD screen, nothing to do with the hypersim or the phone's build quality. I will update you guys on this in the Winter Season thread later, stay tuned.

Really similarities with 902sh? I think that the circle is just way too big compared to the lens, for example, the camera of the 930sh is much more proportionate even though i believe they use the same camera module. Even on the 902sh, it's big, but it's actually filled by the lens, not just black opaque plastic lol

I'm curious as to the location of the microSD card slot - I've read somewhere that it's actually underneath the battery cover, is this true? If so, it'd be seriously annoying to transfer files back and forth between the phone and PC, unless it comes with the USB cable too...

The themes look fantastic!
The night shots look great but are those with normal ISO or increased ISO? Because they are really noisy when blown-up, and some of them are noisy and some are not so im confused....
The images look "soft".I guess the images are processed in that way. Would have preferred sharpening though...

Been away from the Keitai scene for a while and look what new gadgets have surfaced. So gorgeous!
Like Haonan mentioned, Japanese keitais are not for everyone, depending on personal requirements. The more I use them, the more I find myself inconvenienced by the lack of mms and internet. Now with the recent ones no longer being software unlocked, but unlocked the use of the hypersim, I find myself quite reserved about it all.
Don't get me wrong... I have an eternal love affair with keitais. I still have my 911T (decided to keep it in the end instead of selling it off) and the 703SHf. However, living in Singapore makes it difficult. I love having the internet readily available. My iPhone is pretty much perfect for my purposes for the moment (and now with emoji!), with the 911T for my second line.
That being said, I'm quite taken by the SH-01A and the quality of the night shots. Sharp does a spectacular job as always. Pity we can't fully utilise it here. (ToT)
Maybe one day I'll cave in. (>_<; )

Even on the 902sh, it's big, but it's actually filled by the lens, not just black opaque plastic lol
I definitely see some design similarities there for both the V602SH and V902SH, or at least u can say it resembles the V602SH's camera lens design more, except for V602SH the whole rounded circle for the lens portion is in a diff color/spray painted, rather than one whole black opaque glass with a thick circle border stating its aperture and focal lens specs on it. You can see that how this is done similarly in the style as Softbank's 910SH, one of Sharp's previous camera-oriented model so it's pretty obvious how Sharp wants to position the SH-01A for its domestic market.
It's just like how you can see for some of Sony Ericsson's previous Cybershot flagship models for the international market (or SEMC Japan's first Cybershot offering for NTT Docomo aka SO905iCS) actually came with a physical lens/shutter cover for the camera portion, it's all part of the design aesthetics for a camera-phone decided by the original manufacturer. Some people may like it while others may find it annoying, probably either a love or hate thing.
One thing for sure though, before the emergence of the SH-01A/03A models for NTT Docomo's Winter line-up this year, Sharp's previous FOMA line-ups for NTT Docomo such as the SH905i/SH906i series wasn't actually focused on its camera features.
For the uninitiated, it was actually mentioned in this Nikkei Tech-On japanese article (http://trendy.nikkeibp.co.jp/article/column/20081119/1021090/?P=2) where they did an interview with Sharp Corp previously, that it was mentioned that since Jan 2008 this yr they started to really reflect on improving their camera's picture quality and fighting back for their famed reputation for its cameras for their phones, since during the SH905i's sales period in Japan they had gotten quite abit of feedback that the camera quality was really bad, with even a popular japanese celebrity known as Shoko Nakagawa (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoko_Nakagawa) criticising on its camera quality after she did her own purchase of the SH905i. (side-note: she has already since dumped the SH905i for the SH906i, as shown in this blog entry (http://blog.excite.co.jp/shokotan/2860384/) of her's)
Initially she even wrote a blog entry about this on her own blog but was later removed shortly after inviting quite a huge commotion from the public on the 2ch japanese BBS boards, this hoo-haa managed to have made Sharp Corporation aware of this little piece of unofficial scandal, thus they started to do some self-reflection as mentioned in the aforementioned article.
I'm curious as to the location of the microSD card slot - I've read somewhere that it's actually underneath the battery cover, is this true? If so, it'd be seriously annoying to transfer files back and forth between the phone and PC, unless it comes with the USB cable too...
http://i38.tinypic.com/2mq3uxd.jpg
It's not because it's a waterproof-model keitai that the SH-01A/03A's microSD slot was located at the back underneath the battery cover, SH-01A was never a waterproof model to begin with unlike what johnsonheng had mentioned. It was just something that Sharp Corporation did to give it an overall cleaner feel and look, since it was mentioned by one of its R&D dept employee in this japanese article (http://k-tai.impress.co.jp/cda/article/interview/42904.html) by K-tai Watch. It was also mentioned that this was one of the main reasons why they had taken out most of the side buttons feature for the SH-01A/03 and reduced it to only 1, that's the Push-Talk button.
As shown in the picture above, you don't have to off the phone and take out the battery though to swap memorycards, just removing the battery cover would suffice.
it has to be done this way.coz they phone is water resistance.... feature.
Our curry puff hero here obviously PCWs too much in edmw liao, no wonder post count so high now. Since when was the SH-01A a waterproof-model? Once again you have affirmed my doubts that even though u're selling phones, you actually don't know what products u're selling. :s8:

Couldn't agree more with you there Janet. Actually back in the past the hypersim issue did tend to deter my buying decisions abit in regards to japanese keitais, but I guess once u're one of those who had jumped onto the bandwagon with the rest as well, there's like literally no turning back, you would eventually get used to it I guessed. There's always a risk of the hypersim failing on you one day through normal wear-and-tear usage, since it's a fragile piece of thin film hardware, but if this is one of the risk factors that one would need to undertake to fulfill his or her enthusiasm for owning japanese keitais then in my own opinion it probably justifies? :D

In my opinion, I would think it's abit unfair to compare the build quality of the SH-01A to the SH905i/SH906i, since the latter are dual-axis hinge phones while the SH-01A is a Cycloid-based model, even though it's also based on reverse-hinge form factor. I think using the SH-03A to compare against the SH905i/SH906i series would probably be much fairer in this case.

I have also found some hideously bad camera shot samples taken by the SH-01A, in a dark restroom environment. Seems like in a scenario without good natural ambient lighting or light source, the SH-01A tends to underperform badly even with artificial light source via it's onboard LED flash. In my own opinion I even found that the picture with the LED flash source was badly interpolated to a certain extent, it's like taking a picture with its digital zoom options enabled. :s31:

Same sensor, both the SH-01A/03A and Softbank's 930SH all share the same 8MP CCD module, with ProPix processing engine. Only the camera software interface for the Docomo's and Softbank's differs btw them.
Pls however remember that the first picture shown in the above post was taken in an uber dark restroom with minimal surrounding ambient light source, so it was only aided with its high sensitivity ISO settings (the original japanese poster mentioned he used it on High settings for the ISO, however there's no mention whether it can be set manually btw like ISO100 to 2500 maximum) so I would say given such a dark environment I think generally most camera-phones would show up pretty noisy on the LCD viewfinder, no surprises here.
I even tried with my own 903SH in my bathroom just now, with no lights on the 903SH's LCD viewfinder was totally impossible to capture anything inside on-screen, then with the weak LED flash enabled the contrast on the viewfinder was totally washed out unlike the 2nd picture taken by the SH-01A above with its LED flash enabled, which still managed to reproduce the picture kinda correctly such as the toilet roll and mini-shelf corner with those japanese contents. (just that it's still a little noisy that's all around the edges)
In this aspect, we can say that the high sensitivity ISO settings avail on the SH-01A/03A this time with the ProPix engine does help with dimly-lit or dark environments such as night-clubs or drinking pubs, so at least you know in those kind of situations u're still able to take a picture of yourself with your friends decently with your camera-phone. Of course if it comes fitted with Xenon Flash onboard then probably all problems for night shots would be solved on the SH-01A/03A, however it's still only useful for close range shots and there's also the battery issue and longetivity of the lamp to worry abt too, so I think Sharp is just trying to strike a balance here, as least now the LED flash on the SH-01A/03A is as strong as the Softbank 910SH's one.
Cheers.

Actually got pro and con for the hidden memory card. Firstly, even after prolong period of removing the memory card, you can be sure that your paint will not come off. My jp hp got a bit of wear and tear from the frequent removal of memory card. So it is a good thing actually. Don't mind the little hassle.

hmm...now it's just a matter of how much better the SH-01A pics are than the 923SH. So far doesn't seem to be that much better, when I look up close on the sample pics I've seen, I still see noise similar to what the 923SH has. Still doesn't seem to be quite the same as the classic 903SH.
Still waiting for the perfect cameraphone...with optical zoom, 903SH quality pictures and xenon flash...

If it had the xenon flash the shots would be good in the dark. It looks like the sensor can handle the resolution but it just has average noice reduction. It's sensor sixe is the same as some P&s

haha, now it money that all matters..
You still need to do CPR when overseas. In simple terms, when you go overseas, you are logging onto another telecom. Why the need to do CPR is because our japanese hp cannot "register" with the signal tower, thus the need to use a local phone to "register", then the hypersim will hold on to the "key" to use the signal tower.
If overseas people need to do CPR, what makes you think there is no need to do so?

It's done in a pretty similar style as its previous SH905i if you ask me, I own the SH905i/SH906i models currently so I'm comparing it against what I have seen so far online, against the SH-01A's keypad lighting. SH906i's keypads is done similarly like the Softbank 923SH's back-lighting for its keys, in that it mimics a kind of 'glow in the night' backlit-style keypads whenever you type with your phone in dark scenarios, while the SH905i/SH-01A is actually much brighter as it shines throught the keypads and the wordings on it.

Japanese keitais definitely can register with overseas networks bro (provided you have Auto-roaming on your postpaid line of course) , iPhone is iPhone so it's different. I had a friend who travelled to Japan earlier on recently with her SH905i, taught her how to CPR overseas. Basically she just took her unlocked Toshiba 803T there, do it once when she's there then okie liao. Of course come back locally that time, need to do it once again also. At least that's what she told me. :)
And ya, like what Kuro has said, it's all about the restrictions of how the hypersim fundamentally works, and how u're logging on and changing to a different TMSI ID that the new network tower allocates when u're in a overseas-based location. It's unfortunate but that's how modern and latest keitais works nowadays not like the old days of software-unlocked 903SH. (and that's why this model is currently still a gem when it comes to overseas forums like HoFo and Lowyat, u still see ppl looking for it these days hehe)
Cheers. ^ ^

the 923sh keypad lights remind me of the white 903sh keypad lights which I like, but surprisingly dont have a model with those style lights at the moment
I really like the p-01a LED reminds me of the 903sh one thats big and on top of the phone.
I am guessing with hypersims the only ones that probably can roam without cpr are probably the 904sh, 705sh, 920sh models. I do remember putting my old UK sim card and got the roaming triangle on the 904sh

Hi, nearly fall in love with keitais, I just have a question: How about the ability of watching movies on these phones? I mean in terms of brightness (can watch on MRT?), file format (.avi?), resolution( Since it is 800x480, so can it play a full .avi file without converting?). Thanks all :D.

Not true. SH-01A does come with Face-Detection AF mode for its camera, as covered in my Docomo Winter thread (http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/showthread.php?t=2151885). Even the SH906i previously came with this feature for its camera, so I'm not sure how u got that idea from. The only main differences in regards to camera function btw SH-01A and SH-03A as covered in my thread earlier on, is that SH-03A will come additionally with Auto-Smile Shutter and Furimuki Shutter which means when a person or child suddenly turns his face from his back towards you, the shutter auto takes a snapshot for you. The 'Furi-muki' Shutter function is been mentioned by a Sharp spokesperson in a japanese article interview before, that this feature in SH-03A tends to be extremely helpful when taking pictures of hyper-active kids or children. SH-01A will not be equipped with Auto-Smile or Furimuki Shutter for its camera modes at all.

No AVI support, this is not one of those DivX-enabled phones like some of the LG/Samsung offerings out there. You will still need to do conversions in other to playback movies on it, .3GP and .MP4 container formats are supported in the form of Xvid or H.264 AVC MPEG-4 standards. (H.264 AVC playback is supported up to Baseline Profile Lvl 3.0 or below)
Maximum MPEG-4 play-back resolution supported on both SH-01A/03A will be up 720x480, while WMV playback resolution maximum is up to 640x480. (note: WMV-based videos can only be playbacked via the following folder under the phone PRIVATE\SHARP\IMPORT\ and not the usual Camera/PRL00X folders, similarly for SH906i actually)
You should however be aware of the correct aspect ratios for your video source, so as not to make your videos conversions ending up warped looking when playing back on your SH-01A. Use 640x480 for 4:3 source or 720x404 for 16:9 source, for the correct aspect ratios for your videos.

May I know where you got this impression that the SH-01's display looks more inferior to the SH906iTV? Actually Sharp has been marketing the SH-01A as an AQUOS-keitai, which shd be a direct successor to the SH906iTV actually, while the SH-03A is been marketed as more of a camera-oriented model with touchscreen features ala SH906i's direct successor. Just curious.

Yes, from what you mentioned, that is what I am expecting but when I got the phones on hand, turn out disappointed! Refer to the image I posted below and you will know why I speak in this way. Notice the color saturation on SH906iTV is much more bright and colorful.
http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/9912/dcmgq7.th.jpg (http://img255.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dcmgq7.jpg)
To test out Red, Blue and Green color saturation on the phone, Utada Hikaru- Sakura MV is the best to test out how are their display performance. You probably can't see much differences on the photo but believe me when you got all of these 3 phones, you will be shocking!
did you set the brightness and dislay mode to the same for all the 3 handset?
17Calvin
13-12-2008, 12:03 AM
did you set the brightness and dislay mode to the same for all the 3 handset?
Yes, exactly. I never like to put Eco or low brightness on my Keitais. All using maximum brightness.
You probably can't see much different on the picture I posted but when you compare the Utada Hikaru- Sakura MV on 3 of these phones, you will totally shocking on SH906iTV display compare to SH-01A. See the phone seems imperfect, I thought with a 8MP camera, FingerPrint ID, AQUOS 3.3 LCD will really keep me handy but notice the following:
SH906i- Touch Screen & Design (Rainbow LED)
SH906iTV- No need to mention the display. No.1 among other Keitais
SH-01A- FingerPrint ID+ 8MP camera +LED Clock
See, I just can't combine all of them into one SH-01A and quite disappointing me anyway but anyway, depends on my mood, I can change any of them whenever I need them.
Anyway, quick question: SH-01A has MTP mode being activated in Japan with valid FOMA card, when it arrives to my hand, MTP mode not working. Any expert here can guide me?
Anyway, I don't really have any confident on Softbank 931SH, yes, AQUOS LCD, look at all the AQUOS phone produced by Sharp, they don't share same color saturation. Regardless if your brighness set to maximum or having high definition resolution like 931SH does, when the color is not nice, means the display is not stunning at all. Worse, it might be a loser if compare to SH906iTV display.
ISO25600
13-12-2008, 02:05 AM
Wow.. I wasn't expecting to see that much of a difference. Is the 923SH screen better than those? I always thought the 923SH, Sh906iTV, and the Sh-01a would use the same 3.3in LCD... Maybe not.
I saw in some press pictures the Sh-01a was better than the SH906iTV.. or maybe I was thinking the other phonee was the other pphone.... ^_^"

don't be so quick to put out the 931SH display's quality. So often Sharp always reserve their best for Softbank, which kind of pisses me off because Sobtbank always have that stupid MM problems unlike Docomo, plus they are just as stable as new softbanks. The 931SH is Sharp's flagship and I would doubt they would botch this one... they can't.

I'll make the lists for you!
To watch the video, just open databox>i-motion>camerafolder. In video player, you can press "full" button to watch the full video when you turn your cellphone to otherside (if you know what I mean...I don't know English word for it =.=). You can also rename your video file and delete it if you don't want it anymore. The volume is up to 25 and the speed for rewiew/fast forward is 1x or 2x (depends which you set it to. To rewiew, just hold down < ..to fast forward, hold down >). If you stop the video where you are, you can finish watching it (it wont go back to the beginning).
For the music, databox>i-motion>multimedia
It's similar to the music but itll go back to the beginning if you stop it and will listen later on. You can close your cellphone to listen to the music.
I hope this will help you!!!

Audio = dBpowerAMP Music Converter, it's free so search for it yourself. Been using this nifty program since my Vodafone 903SH days and it has proven to be excellent since it supports many codecs including AAC/WMA.
Video = 3GP Calcium Converter (http://mobilehackerz.jp/contents/3GPConv), very simple front-end GUI program that supports drag-and-drop and queues, but at the same time lets you customise your own settings at your own finger tips. I like to have absolute control over my encoding settings since I prefer quality over speed, and this program just fits the bill nicely. Also has been mentioned before in Hencanz's P905i media guide (http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/showthread.php?t=1892278) so this program is definitely good and reliable. However if you do not like command-line based customisation of the FFMPEG settings, you may opt to use Total Video Converter or SUPER instead, those would be fine as well though there's not much options for quality customisation for yr encoding IMO. Most importantly, 3GP Calcium Converter can be programmed in such a way to utilise your Dual-Core or Quad-Core CPUs to enhance the encoding process, but not so much for the other freeware encoding programs out there.

I use my PlayStation Portable Video Converter to convert the videos/DVD into mp4 and insert them on my celll. It works fine and perfect CLEAR...only if you choose to use same quality as from the original video but the file will get little bigger size! Just let you know whoever has PSP video converter!

btw do sh0-1a the front panel when u close the flip does it have a standby clock?
sh-01a support mp4?
i though its only 3gpp format for video?
btw how big the memorycard can sh-01a accept?
oke i back track the sh-01a post found it
it support mp4 under haonan post
---------------------
No AVI support, this is not one of those DivX-enabled phones like some of the LG/Samsung offerings out there.

When you close the flip, the clock will shown for 5 sec. You can turn it off anytime if you want to.
For the videos according to my Japanese manual, these will support SH-01A:
MP4, ASF, 3GP, SDV, M4A
Hope this will help you! またね~~~~!!

hey hey, I just recently gotten myself a white SH-01A too.
But, I have a few questions here for other users with the phone.
Does anybody know how to unlock the MTP mode? My MTP mode is always
greyed out, even when I bought a new microSD card, format it and restart the phone.
It still stays greyed out >.> can't transfer .wma files like that.
Secondly, anybody know where in Singapore I can buy an adapter for 3.5 jack earpiece?
Thirdly, is the camera supposed to be so... grainy? The shutter speed is really slow too...
any1 knows how to change these?

Hello!
My friend from Japan bought me SH-01a and he gave me unlock card.
The problem is...I can receive my friends' text msges but why I can't send text msges back to them. It said "The Service is not provided" What do I have to do with this? I live in Hawaii, USA.
Please help me with this!
Thank you!!
Hey I had the same problem. If the problem is still unresolved, here's how I did it.
Go to mail - mail setting - sms setting - sms center - user set.
Here you will input your sms center number. My phone originally showed 6xxxxxxxxx. I have AT&T service and after googling "AT&T sms center number", a guy in a forum said to use 13123149810. I inputted that number then sms worked! I can send and receive sms now. So search for your center number.
If you already know then I hope someone who may be google searching will find this.

Okey I just recieved my Docomo Sh-03A and tell little about it so others will know what to expect when bought it , I really had no ideal what I was getting sense no one would tell me if anything would work. They just said everything was locked not really the case. First off it has a 8mp camera and a touch screen ,the touch screen is really good when i wave my hand over it ,it will change photo or video .There is alot of features you can use it for ,the menu comes on it so you can just touch to use it.however the volume control is disabled at leaste i think it is. Also my phone uses a 16Gig sim sd card called Sandisk cost about $60 worth it. It has many pre-installed software games and stuff that do work you can use the games there not locked there are pre installed themes and stuff able to use as well they do work also . also you do not need to take the sim card out to change information . you can use the usb cord ..the software is complex for example to use usb cord you must first go into the menu and set the phone to send information to pc instead of recieve information then the cord will work . read the manual like i did helps , the phone can change ringtons to do so go to ringtones and select change melody and then it ask you to change from where ,Imotion, melody of music choose music and then can choose recorded songs . I had no problems with the software or internet or gps just set it up except it is in japanese once you go into the software menu ,there are software for gps ,dictionary and my favorite i -concier ..There also some widgets like on vista pre installed such as clock and stuff and there is game called lost planet .,market place .googles .fun and games . there so many i cannot name them all .
there also Ic card ,and finger print check to scan your finger to the phone i use it so it works well ,its just like the thing at disney you rub your finger across itand it scans it ..also there is a mouse or you can click . its pretty sensative the video is good you can set it up so u can shake the heck out of it all you want and get a good video if you do not set it up for motion then it wont come out good , also has a good light in it and i heard it has a zoom but havent figure out a way to do it yet. actually havent really messed with it that much . comes preinstalled with many 3D ringtones and media tones and surround tones .
the games and applications seem to be able to install from Sd card as well there is no locke out on them. that apears to be mythe. leaste it all works for me I was able to set up 1 seg as well it found all the channels but no reception on it so far probably wont work unless over sea but hey I go there quiet a bit so no problem for me . The main thing Id lik to say is I use the I smart sim it keeps locking up on me i live right in the middle of Town in florida and I had to keep do what you guys call CPR so Im going to have to change to Inex but it lockes up on me about 50 times a day! its set to Gms this is a big issue when its working everything works email msn messenger..but I had no ideal it seems to keep connection and say at&T for about 30 minutes to a hour then lost signal and carrier its a hassle! The phone cost me $725 with the usb charger a 2gb sim and a tofu phone holder and some other stuff I opted out for 16gb sim card ..good investment for videos i still got 11gb left it says . owe and i use this software to converte video fromyoutube to my phone
(Free YouTube to iPod Converter) google it or get it at download.com ..seems this phone will automaticly fit the video to the phone . also it will automaticly arrange the video and pics and music files as needed in the proper place ..its really confusing and overwhelming at first becouse of all the functions but a piece of cake after that .. :D I love the phone thoe its really cool and everyone admires it . the games for it are cool too like psp games . and u can move your hand around to play in the game like a little wii . I had a Hk copy version of a docomo tv phone Aqua i guess its called ..it is good too you can watch tv on it any where in the world sense it uses anolog reciever the problem with hk copy phone is its buggy to much . and in long run becomes a bother . but the cost is only $100 for copy phone compare to $700 for o riginal

have you used a 1900 only gsm phone such as any older sony ericsson, other jphones? that may or may not be the issue. But how long did you let it stay OUT? sometimes you have to be patient and let the phone recover signal and or reboot the phone to get signal.
btw can you find 3g in orlando? trying to see what freq 3g is in orlando, I know tampa, and miami are 850 3g. Not sure if inex can connect to 3g, but i heard mrsim ver2.0 can, but your phone is currently set to gsm/manual for the network settings? it might make a difference, especially if att 3g is spotty and or not holding signal/

For some reason MTP mode doesn't work (I can't choose it in the menu) in my SH-01A. Any idea on how to make it work? I've tried a 4GB and a 1GB Toshiba and a 2GB Kingston microSD. Formatted in the phone, I can only choose Communication Mode and microSD mode, but the MTP mode option is greyed out. Help?

I have Att and its a 3G sim card , I only have 3 cell phones 2 are japanese phones one is of course the docomo and the other is a 3G phone I have no ideal the model but its really good phone it doesnt need to be unlocked i think its software unlocked and the 3rd phone is a copy hk phone of a docomo Aqua with the tv tuner i got it 4 month ago for $166 on ebay it dont need a sim too and stuff it also pretty good except the software is buggy bothe of those phones of course no issues they get full signals 4 bars every where even in korea , the docomo phone i got it doesnt seem to really work well on 3g with the smart sim it keeps a signal for about 25 or 30 minutes so i got it switch to g2 mode now it started keeping a signal for about 1 day before it lockes up, Im sure its the sim card is just bad becouse when i go 5 minutes away from my house the signal strength is good but when i go home its lost sometime even it show 4 bars when i get in the car its lost ..strange it loses it so easy in middle of town it cannot be normal. i try to reboot it, it almost never recovers on its own each time i rooboot alot of times it just says unknown sim card until i do cpr onit , usually i boot it up 10 times and it still no signal until i do cpr i thought i figured it out i thought when i went 5 min farther in town it would reconnect so i did not cpr it but it did not . so even then i had to finally unlock it again with another phone I had ordered a new inex sim now i think that should solve my problems i really like this phone ..i love it but if it dont keep a signal after i just paid $80 on the inex sim Ill have to replace it with a usa phone Im almost at $900 invested in this phone ..its not worth if i cannot use it when i need it most. what worry me the most is if there is a emergancy and i need my phone and it be locked out and i had no way to get to other phone and no time to change the sim card i thought these sims were stable enough or who in there right mind would buy it if it wasnt. I think its a way to get these peoples hopes and dreams up of having a cool phone and then they get them use it find out it wont keep signal and we see it selling on ebay again I wounder why alot of people who purchased them had them up the next week ,they do not want to spend more money trying other options when i could of gotten a nice phone here for alot less but i have the money to do this so lets see if it works next week they speed my sim card to me at a extra $15 I cannott offord not to have a phone either ,

have you tried leaving the att sim and ismart together in the cpr phone for a week to see what happens, then switch back to sh-03a. The only other thing is see if the inex works, or get a hold of "3g-sim" hypersim which works pretty good, I'll get signal out in some areas when Idrive and signal recovers. I didnt have good signal using ismart 2008 with my att card

[SIZE="3"]:s12: Ok I finally got the Inex sim !! Yaaah , well it seems to be better quality anyways over the Ismart sim , Firstly it works in all my phones unlike the ismart also it boots to a boot screen to say that its unlocked by INEX then it tells you the version , Also it actually kept signal and so far it when it turns off it reconnects instead of saying sim not found ., I went down town and back home and so far did not disconnect me at all or need CPR so thats good . I know its just a sim problem not the phone or the signal ,we are in america i had never had problems with any of my phones 3g or 2g ever having lost a signal even over sea when im in korea or thailand ..so its funny all of a sudden the reason is no signal the problem lays in the software its a docomo phone made by advance technology but cannot find a signal i think the problem is its set to work with something else and they hack it to try make it 2g compatable but did not do a good job then theres these cheap sims going around that even make it worste . Im hopin now my problem is solved I worry when i leave town what will happen .. probably back to cpr ..but im not here to sell a product just to tell some people the trueth so they can decide before spending so much money on it ..many people out there want to make a quick buck at our expence get you to pay $500 or more for a phone with false promises .and no return polocey becouse hey read the fine print we are not responcible if the signal is not available in your area ..so when the phone does not connect they got the allabye already wonder why they had that at the bottome @@ i never experience no signal before how they know it happen ??? wow .but hey we are in the usa so there is no such thing as no signal or need cpr to get your phone to work its seems go back to a product that is compatable , if this phone works now ill post it so every one will know if interested in it use a inex I did notice the people reselling there phones on ebay only had the free ISMART sim and probably did not try a diffrent one becouse they sunk to much money in it already . One Im selling a Ismart card for $20 ..$10 less then everyone else :D also I have the 2009 version they say in the description you do not need to cut..no cut ..it fits right on ..yaah right when you recieve it the first thing they tell you to do is not to cut it ..rathier use a hole puncher and punch out a hole in your sim card ..who has a hole puncher ?? and besides punching a hole is same as cutting ..lol I just post this becouse i saw some people saying that was the reason they was wanting a Ismart card .in fact that what turn me onto wanting it to.

Well the inex sim is keeping a signal no freezing or cpr on it . Its only the 3rd day thoe ..Only thing that bothiers me is it reboots itself sometime to regain signal ,it will do it nomatter what your currently doing on the phone. like I was typing and was almost done ..suddenly the phone turn off ..I think it even deleted the media folder i was typing on.:s31: (I was in the middle of changing the folders names to cartoons2 then suddenly the Inex reboot itself ) now seems the folder is missing, who makes these sims should be shot :s16: I was also thinking the ismart sim i got is probably a bad one i remember now on the ebay auctions they write it the first one doesnt work we will send you a second one free of charge..but if it doesnt work then you have to buy from other seller..seems the Ismart has a history of not working if you ask me or why they offer such a deal ..also seems to me if the second one doesnt work then they figure your just out of the money for there broken sims they will sell them to other people then keep send them to you . becouse if i was selling a good product i wouldnt offer anything free in the listings ,,unless i got so many complaints it wasnt working right ..I hope i find the folder ..come mon do not be anouther glitch

Ok I got really good news , One my phone was able to connect to the internet . and two my Inex sim has not had any problems this whole week . no CPR ..and no outrage . I been having signal every where ..So for people interested in this phone go with the INEX 2009 version , forget about the free Ismart sim resell it on ebay ,first complaint it doesn work then get a free second one and sell both on ebay for $25 or $30 bucks that equal $60 the Inex will cost you a extra $20 = $80 total get free shipping , order it wile waiting on your phone ,do not bothier with the free ismart sim at all ..its just not worth the issues ..whenyou get you phone and you put so much money into it you want it to be available right away like I did and ifyou can afford a $700 cell phone you wontt have a problem throwing out $80 for a Inex card and $60 for the 16gb memory card . The videos reformat to smaller size so like Wall-e the movie becomes like 100mb from 1gb and You tube videos are like 3mb so I got like 1000 You tube music videos and a ton of smurf cartoons and looney tunes and southpark each being like 30mb I use free video converters from Download.com . this one is my favorite to copy dvds (Any Video Converter) that is the actuall name look it up on download.com it lets you choose the quality and stuff and this is the one i use for youtube (Free YouTube to iPod Converter) it downloads directly from youtube to your phone or pc to transfer it. Im really glad the phone seems to be working great now ,Now i can consider getting a second one I was thinking of getting the one that opens up like a book . but I will wait for at leaste month . Does anyone know what kind of blutooth is good to use for these phones Im using A motorola . I write a review on that next =:p I really love this phone and Im happy now its working.

Ok this is my personal blutooth review now first thing I want to say about the Sh-03A is it has alot of software features some problems are related to having sooo many features and not knowing the correct set up or how to use the feature and to let you know my opinion on the blutooth is my own and maybe have to do with the fact I just do not know set it up correctly ..Maybe someone can help me understand how the features on the blutooth work more..but until then let me tell you about what I have Experienced!
Ok i have 2 blutooths one being a HK COPY of Motorola officially priced on ebay at $7 bucks..the second one being a original Motorola priced at $65. Ok I never used the copy onewith this phone yet ..so lets save that experiment for anouther day lets just focus on the original one .. now I do not know if this is the official blutooth for this phone or not becouse Ive not seen anyone or anywhere sell A docomo blutooth but if you got one ill buy it . Ok whats cool about the blutooth is that you caan actually use it to listen to movies !!and music!! on the phone as well as talking to friends .. I always thought that was possible. whats not so cool ..is the blutooth rings and it goes to the headset only ..unless I disconnect the blutooth totally from the phone .and then when it rings it usually hangs up on the person im trying to answer wile trying to reconnect the blutooth ..another problem i have is when it is connected it seems when i push the call button it doesnt actually go to the blutooth ..connected or not connected it will always go to the phone ear peice and it will disconnect usually before it will go to the earpiece to let me transfer it to answer it ..Ok now to make a call and to be able to use the blutooth i must first push call on the phone buttone and hangup before they answer then use the blutooth to push the call button on the blutooth for it to call the number i was wanting to call ..and then it will work ..wew got all that ..its alot of work ..at leaste typing it its alot of work ...so maybe someone knows a way to set the phone up better or know a better blutooth ..to use but so far this is the problem with the blutooth i have, but do not worry im sure i will find a way to fix it . :s22::s11:

Yeah I got the internet on the Sh-03A with ATT using a Inex card ,What i did when I got home and sat in coach and went to push Imotion video to watch ..(I usually watch tv as im watching tv at home and on phone ) and i push the wrong thing it went to the Japanese internet everything is in japanese .. To do it you must click the CLA button it should go to a webpage .thats a button between the hang up and call button If you got the same phone as me .. The page will first say you had to accept there agreement and you if you click the wrong one ..im assumin yes or no or no or yes it will sign you out if you click the right one it will continue to the internet . I do not want ATT to charge me some outragouse fee so I did not play so much with it ..but I guess i will shortly seeing I cannot find any games without the use of the internet on this phone! :s27:

Ok I bought this when I bought my phone , Its called Baketan Ghost detector is like a little Charm that goes with your phone maybe you got one maybe not ..but this is where you can buy it
http://www.strapya-world.com/products/27049.html
here is what is written about it on the site. The new Baketan Ver.2 is equipped with "KOTODAMA" tuner. Have you ever heard any "KOTODAMA"?
What's a "KOTODAMA"? It's uncertain, might be voice of OBAKE (Gohst). Can you hear that? Maybe not, but you are able to listen wierd sounds from the other side, with Baketan KOTODAMA Radar. Spiritual Message will be given. Good Luck
It lets you detect ghost and even hear them speaking @@ how cool is that ..
Version one use to be like $60 noway ill buy that but for $25 include shipping I couldnt resist :D So I waiting this thing in the mail ..it got to my house in like 3 days ..FAST!! I got it from strapya world too first thing i ever bought from them !! Alright it came fast and in a unprotected envelope I tore it open , The Baketan comes in a bubble plastic card like those HK toys you get at the flee market for $1 with no writting on the back or instuctions lol ..quickly go to website to see how it works ..open it up 2nd thing notice right away lol ..i bought the white version its actually the black version painted white with what appears to be whiteout same stuff you use to white out on paper when you make mistakes ..lol so the black is coming threw the white ..looks kinda cheesey ..and it feels like chulk ..ok lets look on the bright side I just paid $25 its also made out of HK copy toy plastic you know the one im talking about the one that shatters like glass not crack or break but shatters ..cheap plastic ..great I hope it doesnt scratch my expensive Docomo phone ..im thinking ..every one told to return it ..no no i said I want to find a ghost!! so went to all the rooms in the house it supose to turn red if any ghost is around ..ok I went to all the rooms and pushed the button and try to detect ghost ..never turned red ..Ok off to my grandmothers house they say my grandfather is haunting thatt house..nope ghost there..ok its kinda boring now ..no ghost...
anywhere..
and thats what i got for my $25 lol ..ok so then one day I was looking at my friends photo who died :( so sad and finally the stupid detected went off and made some wierd nose for a long time ..didnt really sound like someone talking ..and it did flash red 3 times .
later day when the phone ring it also flashed wile the phone was ringing ..Ianswered it and no one was on the phone ..haha..scarey..and then one time is flash wile i was at a friends house just red 3 times quickly and stoped ..Im suggestion is unless you want to waste your money buy it.. but there really no fun it. its poorly made for the price and its made out of wierd plastic that will eventually scratch your phone and its not that light either ..if you get one go for the black stay away from the white color you will be more disapointed ..they should of made it out of some kinda rubber stuff you think .

Hi AKemiKnight! How is the touchscreen on the SH-03a? I also have seen that the shutter is very slow for taking pictures, is that true?

well the touch screen is verry good , no problems ..thoe ive had problems with iphone touch screen not working when i touch it maybe becouse i have a gentle touch instead of pokey touch ..but the sh-03a works fine for me in that area ,when i take a photo its true it seems to have a second delay before it takes a photo ...I was wondering if that has something o do with set up thoe becouse before i played with the settings it was fast.

Well today I think i finally had it with these phones with sim cards im at $1000 usd in phone and sim cards and it still lockes up on me to often the first week was good but now its twice a week with inex sim and then i had to go find a phone to unlock my phone with its way to annoying these sims are terrible and waste of money .the phone is good but unless i can make a simple phone call when i need to it wont do anyof us anygood . When i go out everyone loves my phone and every one want to call it and use it how do you tell people you just paid $700 plus for it and they cannot try it becouse its locked up again and first you need barrow there phone to cpr it before they can try it ..so emberrising nomatter how cool the features are my parents know i paid alot for the phone so they want me to show it off to everyone I had to pretend i got signal when i do not to keep from looking like a idiot. my mom call me and she tell me when i gethome why i not answer my phone ..duh stupid phone locked up or just shut down and i did not know about it mostly what is troublesome is that you cannot depend on the phone at all to call your friends to meet you some where or even call for help if got flat tire or something the phone will probably will not working wen you need it most. most of my trips i just go from my house to 1 mile away today we went to dinner and my phone froze this last weekend we went to kissimee florida to the outlet same thing froze up has nothing to do with signal has to do with the sim cards i bought $160 worth of sims none of them keep it from locking up or losing a signal I will never get all my money back for waste of time but I have defently learn something DO not buy these phones !! Buy american!! stay away from any products like this they are not worth the time or money no matter how great the features sound do you really plan to keep swapping the sim card 2 or more times a week and what happen if you not around a phone and need help or need call family to meet some wherre or friends
or if you fell wile changing the tire on your car and the car falls on you..you will have no service ..sure that may never happen to you but you never know what will ,,,I will go to seek a new phone today I will sell this one later after i got a new phone ..READ MY POST see my problems and you decide if its worth your time and money I have alot rich business people come to ask me to buy for them becouse they like mine i said noway!! if i got this phone or anything like it for them they will discover quickly how annoying it really is and put me at blame becouse the point of having a cell phone is being able to make a call when you need to not find a pay phone:s27::s27::s27:

Should have used tmobile instead of att...att is not the best way to use a japanese phone unless you are absolutely sure of knowing what you are doing. That and I dont think INEX is worth the money at all, I've spent a lot less on hypersims (20 dollars for mine on att) and no issues.
What is the network setting on the phone? Is the network selection on automatic or manual? From my experience, keeping it on manual, the phone will reboot a lot less. On automatic, the phone would randomly reboot and get uim not recognized error.
And you arent actually buying american, btw, only "american" phone company is motorola, sony ericcson is swedish-japanese, nokia is finland, blackberry why yes thats canadian. Samsung and LG are korean.
Lets see, used my phone all week, both a p905i and n905i on att, no cpr, a few simple OUTS at USF parking garage, come out, wait a few seconds to minutes and signal is back up and running. My room on ATT sucks on signal, goes from signal in and signal out, I have no issues with the phone recovering.
YOu should have done your research before buying, check howardforums too as there are more american users that can also help out. Should have gotten a softbank or china sh9020c instead for stability. Using a docomo isnt for noobs unless you are willing to learn how to use it by trial and error.

Well from all that it seems like you might be messing something up or in an area with low reception. Or you probably just need to set the phone to GSM ONLY rather than have it automatically look for service.
I can use my Japanese mobiles in the US, in Taiwan, and in Japan with full stability and not one single problem (until I decided to take the subway and no one gets reception in there anyways). So you should go back to check your settings.
Then again you probably just need the new 3G-SIM hypersim but it appears you have pretty much given up. I guess as a rule of thumb, if you're the only one having problems and no one else is then you probably hosed something.

Yes all your avices is great but its just the same advice over and over again if you read up on the forum everything you guys keep repeat and ive done it all already basicly doesnt matter if I set it to 2g or 3 it does the same alot less on 2g and for the manual settings its already set to that ,but I tried bothe ..Really I have to do research inorder to buy a phone ..lol..new to me then it should be posted with the phones by all means i pretty much think you buy a phone it should at leaste work. I got the money to try anything I bought the phone i wanted not knowing the problems thats why im posting it so people like me does not make the same mistake sure if you want to take class and keep tryng something be my guess but I just need a good phone that will work and bought the one to my liking ..the problem I have is it needs cpr way to much 1 time is to much already I need a phone when I want to use it .thats point of a phone ..me being called a noob doesnt matter becouse it should not take a expert to operate a phone the one I got was already presetted over sea's to the recommended setting but I changed the setting so much and tried everything 3 times over it just seems to be circles everyone i talk to go back to the begining and so ofter the person who i talk to the most keep say c hange the setting to this to 2g and manual and this and that..like i didnt listen that last 100 times and tried everything they said and it just keeps going onto more work try taking the sim card out for 12 months and putting the pillow over the phone and holding your breath all gets me nowhere lol ..Yes I giving up I put the phone away and I meant by buy american I only ment to say buy a phone from your country for the service provider . I will get a software unlocked phone instead I found a nice one with 8mp camera from LV looks like a Ipod i will not find anything so cute like a japanese phone but then I need service. it also has wifi so i can get free internet at airports and stuff sense i travel alot its ideal more then a unstable phone without service dependability .
Im all for japanese phones but im also all for lets wait until there able to software unlock it . lets not make excused for faulty chips thats why there no guide on how to unlock the phone for att the fact is some things work for some people only becouse there chip they happen to get it eather works bettr or less then others but will not work the same for the same phone or same chip with anouther person only becouse the chip they may get is not working properly . Im not wasting nomore time on the phone even I love the phone but Im not in love with the phone..lol let someon else buy my problems :D

Im using a software unlocked japanese phone now . if it just no service it still a problem becouse even with unlocked phones I never had any problem with no service until now but the main problem is that CPR is to much like having a second job .
The phone im using right now also show no bars but at least it stay with att and can make call and recieve them . not be locked out . but actually no att phone i ever had by the carrier shows no bars they always show 4 to 6 bars ..so give me a break..im not defending anyone or anything im just saying the fact if you read my post you would know I got many many phones not just one I only got one that needs a sim card the rest are unlocked software wise.

but what phones are you using? what frequency do they use? Are they quadband or triband? That right there will make a big difference. Traveling with a phone WITHOUT 850 gsm is a nono on att, regardless of who makes the phone, samsung, sony ericsson, nokia, etc. And INEX = expensive, and not necessary the best
Actually it should require research to use a docomo, too many people frustrated not realizing the downsides and restrictions to use them, in your case thats what happened. Remember, these phones werent meant to be sold outside of japan, so of course there are going to be issues. If you want a phone then get one through official sources. And other than the n-02a, most docomos arent really unlocked by technical terms.
If you wanted a reliable phone then you shouldnt have gotten a docomo, and att isnt the most ideal provider, to use one b/c of the frequencies.

Well I got home and hurry to insert the sim and stuff to see about change my phone over to manual .
First off,The Sh-03A has Manual setting Disabled so I cannot click it secondly there is only Auto I am able to click on when I click it ..it just says searching ..no signal and resets itself..ok im looking at it now there is this
1. Auto
2.manual (disable)
3.Network re-search
4.plmn setting (disable)
when I click 1 or 2 it says changing to auto then it just says no signal and reboots itself.
the other setting is GMS or 3G mine is set to GMS
Other then that I do not see anything else I can do in the settings :s11:

I think it has something to do with your hypersim.
A lot of my customers use the same phone that you have on AT&T service (but not in your state) have experienced initial issues with their SH-01A and SH-03A (Docomo PRIME series) because the hypersim wasn't fully compatible with their AT&T 3G SIM card (the one thats blue and says AT&T on it with the "3G" written inside a fireball).
They too have spent exceeding $200 USD on buying and trying different hypersims. Inex seems to work in a lot of places but I've tested it to not work correctly using AT&T service. I have T-Mobile and AT&T sims (all active lines) to test these things. Ismart09 seems tow work with AT&T but not consistent until much later we released a hypersim called 3G-SIM which added support for 3G rated hypersims and AT&T sim cards were added in there for support which fixed most everything.
So you should check your hypersims and that should get your phone to work. I've dealt with several people with the same phone you have that works fine in the US so if they're not having any problems and you're having all kinds of issues then something is wrong on your end. If it's a crappy phone then it shouldn't work for anyone else either.
Also do check the 1900Mhz in your area. It could be your area doesn't use 1900Mhz so that it tries to rely on 850Mhz that the phone doesn't have.

Actually it has been known att to be problematic with docomos, since they first came out last year, like I said before if you had researched it you would have found out that att has issues and avoided spending so much money. Where did you research? Did you ACTUALLY GO TO HOWARDFORUMS like I said? Howardforums is where there are more north american users, so getting assistance is much easier than hardwarezone, the problems people have in sg may be different. IF you had read it, most would have said att may or may not work, but if you want to spend the money and have a brick like you did, its your risk, and you have to know what you are doing.
And no I dont have more money than you, I wont spend over 300 usd on a single phone. And what I did, I waited WHOLE year to get an older docomo series and with luck got the working hypersim with the phone. I got my docomos at nice prices.
One day while I was downtown China Town in Florida passing a phone store , I saw my dream phone in the shops window ..Docomo..wow I said as I stood there staring at big lcd flat screen showing all the cool features of the phone ..Thats the phone I want.

you bought from chinatown without knowing the first rule, never trust what a salesman tells you, thats your problem and everyone knows this, not knowing this when going to buy things in chinatown, I am assumming on colonial, to anywhere NYC, etc carries the same risk. But I decided to get rid of the phone, Before I got the phone I was told ATT was the best service for the phone and ect but anyways im sure if I use any service that did not work then it will be the worste service for this phone. After all i am talking to the phone providers. Really Im tired of messing with it I just wanted a phone that works is that to much to ask for out of a grand? :s11:
This is the new phone going with NEW LG RENOIR KC910 , it supports all formats of video and music with drag and drop I do not need to format the size or anything.
also has built in 8gb and Wifi so I can pick up free internet at mcdonalds ,starbuck or in my case the many places i visit around the world such as airports that have free internet connection many flights offer it to.
looks like a Iphone ..I hate Iphone I got one for my best friend already but I hate cpr more.
plus the phone is a whopping $300!!! only after selling my docomo I will got back around $500 bucks woohoo. And im selling my sims too each.
Hopefully this phone is good if not ..it only cost $300 bucks and im sure I do not
need cpr for it :D
now im excited about $500 back :s12:

In a old box in my closet still sits my first Japanese phone ever!! Yeehaaw
The Sony Ericsson 802se It's been in the box for more then 2 yrs!!
Time to dust it off! I try to turn it on I really did not expect much but it actually still
held a full charge!! Wow so now im going to use it for awile I guess I also got the Docomo sh-01A that one doesnt use a sim card but I have the HK version of it not the Japan.
I trying to keep that one in top notch condition Im thinking of selling it :D I hate it :s16:
My sony has a whopping 1.3 MP looks everybit as good if not better then the 8mp one i must say!! I also guess its the first 3G phone I ever owned its really made well and its heavey like a brick . I plan to sell it at one point but as I was walking outside down some stairs it poped out of my pocket (believe it or not ) (@_@ )as i steped down i steped right on my phone and tumble down the steps ..it gets better
before i tumbled I kicked the phone up in the air as i fell and it landed right in the middl of the road..ha..and it still works thoe a little banged up :s22: and the clam shell a bit off when i close it now so after that of couse who would buy my phone now it had some battle scars I have history of destroy my phone before I can sell them :(

Buy american!! stay away from any products like this they are not worth the time or money no matter how great the features sound do you really plan to keep swapping the sim card 2 or more times a week and what happen if you not around a phone and need help or need call family to meet some wherre or friends
or if you fell wile changing the tire on your car and the car falls on you..you will have no service ..sure that may never happen to you but you never know what will ,,,I will go to seek a new phone today I will sell this one later after i got a new phone ..READ MY POST see my problems and you decide if its worth your time and money I have alot rich business people come to ask me to buy for them becouse they like mine i said noway!! if i got this phone or anything like it for them they will discover quickly how annoying it really is and put me at blame becouse the point of having a cell phone is being able to make a call when you need to not find a pay phone:s27::s27::s27:
hhmmm... i have an sh-01a docomo by sharp , i bought a 2008 ismartphone universal sim adapter for $17 shipped on ebay and used it on my sh-01a and never had a problem ,i've been using it for months and never lost signal and no need for rebooting ,i have t-mobile by the way , maybe you should get t-mobile? or try the sh-01a? i got mine for $300.00 usd new
