Hi Corbell,
Was wondering if this (http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&maincat_no=134&prod_no=1654) product from MSI is available in SG? If so, what would be the RRP with the add on card?

Hi Bluegrass,
Were you able to get any information on this board? Its getting good reviews and I am sure the HTPC enthusiasts will be interested as I am.

Hi Bluegrass,
You should seriously consider bringing this motherboard.
Looking at the hardware and connections, its a pure HTPC and Audio Source for Stereo setup.
This thing can capture HTPC and even audiophiles looking for a simple ready made solution. Can knock out lots of competitiors leh! :D
I'll be very keen if you can bring in shortly.

Same here. I was planning to buy an AVR, but now put the plan on hold after seeing this board.
If you guys could bundle the board with a decent HTPC case and the required components, I will surely consider buying.
Diablo, small correction.
It is either 5.1 amplified or 7.1 with pre-amp. Not sure if MSI offers both options in the same package, but would be nice to have the flexibilty.

I think AVR still need la..It'll just that connections to display and audio is much more comprehensive.
I read that specs of the MSI board, and that's L/R line out, so I suppose it does output stereo sound into stereo (pre)/amplifiers

I think you are missing out the 5 channel AMP daughtercard bundled alongwith that board :)
That daugter card has a 5 channel, 100w/ channel digital amp which integrates with the D2Audio subsystem on the mother board. There is a Sub pre-amp for an Active sub.
The 7.1 pre-amp daughter card is just that. A pre-amp output which integrates with the D2Audio daughter card.
Details here (http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=Media_Live_DIVA_5.1&class=npc) and here (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130206)
The part number for the amp card is MS-4140

Thanks :)
saw the daughter card, which I dun think I'll be going for.
Dun wan another heat source in the HTPC casing. Morever, not sure how well this card can drive speakers so wun rather leave the amplification stage to AV/Stereo amp ;)

I am planning to build one with the amp card. The guys on avsforum (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1003579)are reporting positive experiences with this board, even when using audiophile class speakers.
If the quality does not work out to my satisfaction, then I will buy a commercial AVR and use the HTPC as a media centre.

Don't think so. This one has an integrated AVR Class audio system, which no other htpc motherboard has.

I guessed so. So it's either this or an external receiver/amplifier.

Yep. But I would suggest building this one first before investing in an AVR. Check out the audio with the 5.1 Amp card. If it does not satisfy your needs, then go out and buy an AVR.
This board has spdif out which can be used to connect to an AVR. However, this will be through the Realtek chipset. There is a 7.1 pre amp card also available if one is looking for a preamp solution out of the onbaord D2 chip.
Might consider building a HTPC around this board later this year.

I have the same intention as you :) . Hopefully MSI'll refresh the board with SB750 and AM3 cpu support :)

Don't know about that, but I will be building this once AM3 is available. Planning to build a new AM3 rig and recycle my existing CPU / RAM / PSU and Optical drive to build a HTPC with this board.

Hi Corbell. Any update on when can you bring in this MOBO to Singapore? Why is it taking so looooong for this motherboard to reach Singapore? I'm sure a LOT of enthusiasts here are anxiously waiting for this board.
Please advice.
