I am connected to my school's network with a lan cable.. but i am unable to surf the net, i tried the repair and dignose option in vista, and it said the problem was cannot ping primary dns server.

I am pretty sure that the school's network is up and running.

I can still connect to wireless networks(which is what i am on now.). I suspect the problem might be a virus. I am currently infect with one which redirects me through copy-book.com whenever i try to use a search engine. trying to resolve that now.. any help would be appericiated. Quite hard to solve problems when you can't use google.

Apart from that, I am completely lost. Anything else i should try?

thanks.

tat's right. the primary dns server in question may have blocked ICMP, thus it will be unpingable.
